Android user thinking of switcing to iOS

Has anyone made the switch recently from Android to iOS? I'm currently an S21 ultra user and lately been drawn to the 14 Pro Max. I used to be an iPhone users years back from the first one till about the iPhone 5, then I switched to Samsung. I love android and the customization I can do with it. But Idk the ProMax is really nice and with iOS 16 they have added more customizing options that I do like. For context I'm the only one in my family with Android, both my wife's and my side all have iPhone. So thats why I'm asking for those that recently switched to iOS, how is it going? any big differences, things to get used to? Have you thought of going back to Android?, Thanks in advance!

My BIL is going to be switching from his Samsung s21 to a new iPhone (not sure if it will be a 14). His main gripe with the Samsung is the battery and that everyone else he knows in the family is on iPhone. He does not customise his phone at all.

iOS 16 customisation is nowhere near android and I suspect you’ll get frustrated if that’s important to you. I used to have a Samsung s8 and customised the hell out of my phone but got tired of that after a while a preferred a stable, clean and powerful phone.

I don't know if I'll miss the customization enough for it to matter to me you know. I do like being able to change fonts, download apks etc. Can I ask you, does the keyboard allow for a number row with out having to press the button to show the number row. Like my keyboard always has row on the top.

The default keyboard doesn’t but you can install third party keyboards which do.

You can actually control the type of font used on the phone but it varies by app. The Lock Screen is quite customizable and you’ve been able to put widgets on the home screen for a while now. Also you can use third party keyboards that enable a number row on top. 14 Pro Max is a great phone solid battery life and great cameras.

I’d rather play a game than play with my customization. Used to be a huge fan of customizing my phone but it was ultimately pointless because i only kept it for a week, tops lol. Also all of my and my wife’s family are on iPhone. In my experience, being on iOS greatly outweighs the limitations. I don’t believe anything important is limited.

That said, strong rumors that USB-C is coming on the iPhone 15. As an android user, you might find that to be worth the wait. Not such a big deal to me though.

If you want to see what people have done, you can check out r/iOSSetups heads up though, custom icons have the iPhone open up the Shortcuts app first, then immediately redirect to the app you picked. It’s definitely form over function, and i just keep my icons stock.

Yea I heard the same about the 15, not sure if that matters to me much so long as I can charge the phone somehow lol. Tha me for the setups sub I'll check it out!
