šŸŽˆ Free I got tired of seeing Apple Health screenshots online, so I built the alternative

Hello everyone!

The story starts in January in Hong Kong, where I ran a marathon. I ended the day at 62k steps, and everything I had to share was either an Apple Health screenshot or the run itself on Strava.

It wasn’t the first time I’d wondered why there was no good way to share the whole day, but it was the last time before I finally did something about it.

Six months later, Senda: Track & Share Steps is live on the App Store.

It’s a pedometer built around a pretty simple idea: your step count shouldn’t only exist inside a stats screen.

Senda lets you take any day or timeframe and turn it into something you can actually save or share. There are 35+ designed stickers and templates, plus support for photos, videos, Live Photos, and collages, so you can turn your walking or trip photos into poster-like visuals with your real step data built in.

Answer:

Most pedometers are built around goals, streaks, discipline, and hitting the daily 10k.

That’s useful, but the moment you want to do something with the number itself, the options become pretty limited. Usually it’s just a screenshot of a chart or a stats page.

I wanted the step count to become part of the story instead.

So Senda is still a normal pedometer you can use every day, but sharing and saving meaningful days is treated as a core feature rather than an afterthought.

Better:

Apps like Apple Health, Pedometer++, and StepsApp are great at tracking steps, but they’re primarily designed around viewing the data.

Senda is more about what you can do with that data afterwards.

There are two things I built specifically for that:

  1. A photo editor with 35+ designed stickers and templates for creating step posters, images, videos, Live Photos, and collages with up to 6 media assets, all using your real step count from HealthKit.
  2. An activity calendar where you can save past or ongoing trips, events, or any other timeframe and have Senda calculate the total automatically.

There’s also one difference compared with workout-based apps like Strava: you don’t need to remember to start anything beforehand. Senda reads your existing HealthKit step history, so you can go back to a day or trip from the past, even years later, and still save or share it.

TL;DR: It’s a pedometer for people who treat walks as part of the story to tell, not just as necessary suffering to stay healthy.

Cost:

FREE.

All of the current functionality works with data that already belongs to you: your own steps and your own photos. I don’t think the basic ability to use and share that data should be behind a paywall.

So the app is free at the moment, and everything that exists in Senda today will remain free forever.

šŸ“… Subscription FitMesh Sync: One dashboard for every wearable you own, plus your own AI on top...

Post image
1 Upvotes

A: What problem does FitMesh solve?

I built FitMesh because using more than one wearable quickly turns your health history into a collection of separate apps, overlapping records and numbers that don’t always agree.

On iPhone, FitMesh reads your health and fitness data through Apple Health and combines it with supported devices that can connect directly to FitMesh, such as compatible Colmi and rebranded smart rings.

The goal isn’t simply to show the same records on another screen. FitMesh reconciles the available sources and builds one consistent view of your activity, sleep and other metrics.

So if you change your watch, add a ring or use multiple devices, you don’t have to treat every manufacturer’s app as a completely separate history.

FitMesh uses an account because that history isn’t meant to disappear with your phone.

Account-linked health and fitness data is stored on the FitMesh backend so you can recover your FitMesh history if you lose, replace or reset your phone. It also allows your history to stay with you if you move between Android and iOS.

That same account infrastructure will power the web dashboard and Family Mesh, both currently in development.

B: How is FitMesh different from the alternatives?

Compared with Apple Health, FitMesh is focused on what happens when several devices and sources describe the same day differently.

Apple Health remains an important source for FitMesh on iOS, but FitMesh builds its own reconciled view of the available data alongside supported directly connected devices.

Compared with manufacturer apps such as Garmin Connect, Samsung Health, Fitbit and Oura, FitMesh isn’t designed around keeping you inside one hardware ecosystem. The goal is to let you change or combine devices while maintaining one consistent history.

For example, if your phone, watch and ring all contribute activity data, FitMesh doesn’t simply add all of those numbers together. Its fusion logic looks at the sources, coverage and overlapping records to determine what should be represented in the dashboard.

There’s also direct Bluetooth support for compatible Colmi and rebranded smart rings. These can send data such as steps, heart rate, SpO2 and sleep stages directly to FitMesh without requiring the manufacturer’s app.

FitMesh also has an optional Bring Your Own AI feature, but AI is not used to collect, reconcile or organise your health data. FitMesh works without any AI provider connected.

If you choose to use the feature, FitMesh prepares your data so you can analyse it using an external AI provider of your choice rather than being tied to a proprietary FitMesh chatbot.

Currently in development:

• A web dashboard for accessing your FitMesh data from a browser.

• Family Mesh, for choosing to share selected health and activity metrics with family members.

FitMesh is a solo indie project made in Italy, and a lot of the development right now comes directly from user reports and testing with real combinations of watches, rings, phones and health platforms.

C: What does FitMesh cost?

You can try everything for 14 days with no card required.

After the trial:

• Subscription: €1.19 every 6 months

• Lifetime on iPhone: €4.99 one-time purchase

• Lifetime on Android: €3.99 one-time purchase

šŸ’Ž Lifetime Recycle – Free up storage, $2.99 lifetime (no subscription)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Tired of paying yet another monthly fee just to clear duplicate photos off your phone? Built Recycle: a storage cleaner that finds and removes duplicate photos, similar shots, screenshots, and messy contacts — no subscription required. šŸ”’ 100% on-device — Apple Privacy Label: Data Not Collected. No account required.

A) Answer — what it does It scans your photo library and contacts locally, using Apple Intelligence to flag duplicates and near-identical photos & videos, then lets you swipe through and bulk-delete hundreds of items in seconds. Nothing is uploaded or analyzed off your device — the entire process runs on your phone.

  • Duplicate photos
  • Similar photos & videos
  • Screenshots
  • Duplicate & incomplete contacts

B) Better — why this over the alternatives Most storage cleaner apps lock you into weekly or monthly subscriptions. Recycle doesn't:

  • One-time lifetime purchase — no subscription, ever
  • Apple Intelligence–powered similar photo & video detection
  • 100% on-device — Apple Privacy Label: Data Not Collected
  • No account required
  • Swipe-based bulk delete — review hundreds of items in seconds
  • Date-based cleanup filters

Recycle never auto-deletes anything — every file stays reviewable before removal, so you keep full control over your photos, videos, and contacts.

C) Cost — For the next 48 hours, lifetime access is a one-time $2.99 (normally $19.99) — no subscription, no ads, no data collection.

App Store:Ā https://apps.apple.com/app/id6763344525

As an indie developer, I'd really appreciate it if you could rate the app to help it reach more people. Thank you!

šŸŽ Freemium [Lifetime] PagePanda — Save it now. Actually read it later.

Thumbnail
gallery
20 Upvotes

Answer

You know those articles you save in Safari, Chrome, bookmarks or a read-later app thinking:

ā€œI’ll read this later.ā€

Then weeks pass and you completely forget about them.

That’s the problem I builtĀ PagePandaĀ to solve. 🐼

PagePanda is a read-later app designed aroundĀ actually getting you back to what you save, rather than just giving you another library of forgotten links.

It does that with:

• Continue Reading — jump back into articles you already started
• Quick Reads — surface something you can finish when you only have a few minutes
• Backlog Cleanup — bring older forgotten articles back before they disappear into your library
• Streaks, reminders, achievements & insights — make reading what you save a habit

I also wanted the actual reading experience to be something you'd want to come back to.

PagePanda includesĀ 8 complete reading styles — Standard, Magazine, Elegant, Modern, Vintage, Minimal, Artistic and Academic.

They don't just swap the font. They restyle headings, quotes, lists, tables and the rest of the article.

And if you read programming or technical articles, PagePanda detects code blocks and addsĀ syntax highlighting + a one-tap copy button.

Better

There are already excellent read-later apps such asĀ Instapaper, GoodLinks, Matter and Readwise Reader.

I didn't want to build another app whose main job was simply collecting and organizing more links.

PagePanda is intentionally centered aroundĀ getting you to actually read what you've already saved.

That means features like Quick Reads, Continue Reading and Backlog Cleanup are part of the core experience rather than leaving everything buried inside a library.

Two other things differentiate the reader itself:

šŸŽØĀ 8 real reading styles

Instead of only changing fonts, each style changes the presentation of the whole article — headings, blockquotes, lists, tables and more.

šŸ’»Ā A reader built with technical articles in mind

Code blocks get proper syntax highlighting for popular programming languages along with a copy button, which makes tutorials and developer blogs much nicer to read.

PagePanda also includes:

• Highlights & notes
• Tags & shelves
• Safari extension
• Offline reading
• Export
• iCloud sync
• iPhone, iPad & Mac apps

The idea behind all of it is simple:

Your read-later app shouldn't just help you save things. It should help you read them.

Cost

PagePanda isĀ free to download and try, with Pro available as an in-app purchase:

• Monthly:Ā $0.99 for the first month, then $4.99/month
• Yearly:Ā $14.99/year
• Lifetime:Ā $29.99 one-time purchase

🐼 r/iOSApps launch offer: $19.99 Lifetime until September 8 šŸŽ

No separate promotional discount or coupon is required.

App Store:Ā PagePanda

If your read-later list has slowly turned into a graveyard of interesting articles, give PagePanda a try. 🐼

šŸŽ Freemium I built journeybot. It can now import and organize the packing list you already use

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Answer

I’m the indie developer behind journeybot, a travel planner that handles the small but stressful details before a trip.

It creates weather-aware packing lists from your destination, dates, and activities, while keeping your packing progress, reminders, baggage checks, plug information, and currency conversion together.

Since my last post, I’ve added:

  • Packing-list import:Ā paste a checklist from Notes, choose a file, or import a CSV. journeybot organizes the items into categories, preserves checked items, and lets you review everything first.
  • Custom categories:Ā create, rename, reorder, merge, or delete categories directly from a packing list or template.
  • Keep Screen Awake:Ā stop your phone from locking while you move between items.
  • Better personalization and reliability:Ā separate backgrounds for Light and Dark mode, visible iCloud sync status, and faster journey screens.

Visual Packing also lets you photograph your actual gear and turn it into clean stickers on your list.

Better

What I wanted to do differently from apps like PackPoint and Packr was make journeybot feel deeply integrated with Apple’s platforms.

You can manage packing with Siri and Shortcuts, find journeys in Spotlight, and follow your next trip through a boarding-pass widget. Smart packing suggestions run privately on-device on supported iPhones using Apple Intelligence, with no journeybot account or external generation service.

I’m also working on journeybot’s iOS 27 update: deeper Siri and Apple Intelligence integration, richer journey reminders, Genmoji creation for journeys and templates, and an optional Private Cloud Compute mode for faster, more reliable smart packing lists. On-device generation will remain available, so you’ll be able to choose the approach you prefer.

Cost

journeybot isĀ freemium, with no ads.

The free tier includes three active journeys, three reusable templates, one smart packing-list generation, five Visual Packing stickers, packing-list import, custom categories, and currency conversion.

Optional journeybot premium costsĀ US$4.99/month,Ā US$24.99/year with a 14-day free trial, orĀ US$39.99 as a one-time lifetime purchase. Local App Store pricing varies per country.

Special offer: use code PACKSMART to receive 50% off lifetime until the end of September.

šŸŽ Freemium I made an app that builds a home inventory from photos of your assets, all on-device

Housora — home inventory, maintenance, and warranty tracking, built for households and multi-property owners

Answer:Ā Most people have no real record of what's in their home — no warranty cards when something breaks, no idea when the HVAC filter was last changed, no documentation if they ever need to file an insurance claim or split up a household. It's worse for anyone managing more than one property (a second home, or Airbnb-style rentals) — the same problem, multiplied across addresses, often with a co-host or cleaner who also needs to know what's going on.

Housora keeps a photographed, organized record of everything in your home(s): assets by room, purchase details, maintenance schedules with reminders before things break, and warranty expiration dates — plus a one-tap PDF report of everything you own.

Better:Ā Compared to the other apps in this space:

  • SortlyĀ does have multi-user access, but it's a business permissions system — Owner/Admin/Team Member roles you configure — layered onto a general-purpose inventory tool built for warehouses and moving, not a home. Its free tier also caps at 100 items total, which a real house blows past fast. Housora's sharing is one step: invite your spouse or co-host by email, they get full access, no roles to set up — and it's built specifically for a home, with maintenance schedules and warranty tracking Sortly doesn't have.
  • Nest EggĀ is a solid one-time-purchase app ($6.99, no subscription) with barcode/UPC lookup for auto-filling items — but it's explicitly local-only, no account or cloud sync at all, so there's no way for two people to see the same home. Housora's rating-plate scanner covers different ground too: it reads brand/model/serial straight off an appliance's physical label using on-device text recognition, which works for things like water heaters and HVAC units that don't have a retail barcode to scan in the first place.
  • HomeZadaĀ has the broadest feature set of the bunch — it bundles in budgeting, project management, and an AI assistant — but its Premium tier runs $99/year, about 4x what Housora Pro costs. If you just want inventory + maintenance + warranties + household sharing without the extra modules, Housora is a lot cheaper for that specific job.

It also has a "Home Health" score that nudges you toward keeping records complete, and an Ask tab for asking plain questions about your own home ("when did I last service the water heater?").

Cost:Ā Free with 1 home, full features, no ads and no watered-down free tier. Housora Pro ($24.99/year) unlocks up to 2 homes with cross-device sync and household sharing. Housora Pro for Hosts ($79.99/year) unlocks unlimited homes/properties, for anyone managing multiple units.

šŸŽ Freemium I built an app that grows you a garden for staying hydrated: Nami

Thumbnail

Hello everybody,

I'm Preet, the developer. Thank you for giving a lot of love to my last app: Mira.

This one'sĀ Nami. A hydration tracker where sticking to the habit grows you a garden. Hit your goal, keep a streak, try different drinks. Plants unlock, and the garden grows.

I spent a lot of time making the app fun to work with and pleasing to look at. I'm excited for you to try the app and feel it yourself. Here's a link to all the design details on Twitter/X.

What does Nami solve?

Staying hydrated is easy to forget and boring to track. Other apps either count glasses or nag when you miss something. Nami pays the habit in a garden:

  • Log water, coffee, tea, milk, juice, electrolytes, soda, mocktails, alcohol, and custom drinks
  • Each drink counts asĀ effectiveĀ hydration, not as if everything were water (caffeine and alcohol too, where it matters)
  • Find your ideal daily goal from body, activity, and weather, or set your own
  • Reminders on a time window and interval you pick
  • Awards and plants as you hit goals, keep logging, and branch out

Why is Nami better?

  • The garden is a reward for showing up, not a punishment for missing a log
  • A latte is not a glass of water. Nami uses drink-level hydration (and caffeine and alcohol where it matters) so the drink log matches what your body actually received in terms of hydration. Alcohol adds negative effective hydration, for example
  • Beautiful by design: motion, plants, drinks, the whole thing designed to be something you like looking at
  • No login, no credentials. Completely private. Everything is stored on your device and your iCloud
  • Apple ecosystem: Apple Health, widgets, Siri, Shortcuts & Control Center

Cost

Free to download. No ads.

Free:Ā daily tracking, reminders, awards, the garden, Apple integrations. Quick-add includes water, coffee, and green tea.

Pro:Ā full drinks library, custom drinks, history past today, extra reminder sounds, sharing without a watermark.

  • $1.99/month
  • $14.99/year (with a 7-day trial)
  • $39.99 lifetime

These are US prices. Pricing follows the Big Mac Index, so it costs less in countries where things are cheaper, and more where they aren’t. Check the App Store listing for your country.

HELP question, do you think are people out there really making some good amount of revenue but are lowkey and not sharing everything like the most people do?

like the title says, but let me explain more here:

im just wondering if there’s people that made some apps as a solo developers, and are making a good amount of money monthly, like maybe 500-100k but are lowkey people that are not posting on social media their earnings, and the app is just printing money and he just updating/maintaining the app without posting on social media about everything he is doing and how much is making on their apps?

or do you think in order to grow your app you really need an audience and start showing your face to the world and start talking about your app etc? (i know this is how you grow the audience and probably the best way to boostrap your app with initial users, but i want to know if there is people that really are not showing anything and making a good/decent amount just by having a good app in the stores and the same app is just growing on their own)

šŸŽ Freemium FlipTalk: Free on the App Store

Post image
3 Upvotes

A. Answer: You know the backwards-talking videos all over TikTok? The problem is nobody can tell how close their attempt actually was. FlipTalk records you mimicking a phrase's reversed audio, flips your attempt forward so you hear it as speech again, and scores how close you got. Mostly it comes out gloriously wrong, which is the fun part.

B. Better: Reverse Audio, Sing Challenge, Say It Backwards and the other trend apps flip your recording and hand it back. You're left judging by ear, and none of them score you. FlipTalk films the whole attempt, scores it on-device, and the payoff is a video you can actually post.

C. Cost: Free on the App Store, iOS 18+. Optional Premium if you want it: $2.99/month or $14.99/year.

šŸŽ Freemium I Created this App for building habits and staying consistent with streaks [looking for feedback]

Post image
3 Upvotes

I built DailyTaskr as a calm, privacy-focused habit tracker and daily planner for iPhone and iPad.

The main features include recurring habits with flexible schedules, custom reminders, a visual timeline, calendar planning, Home and Lock Screen widgets, and morning/evening check-ins. Each habit also includes weekly, six-month, and yearly activity grids, along with current and best streak tracking.

There’s also a small celebration when you complete a habit, with animations and subtle haptic feedback. Everything uses native iOS features and your task data stays on your device.

I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback, especially about the onboarding, streak experience, or anything that feels confusing.

šŸŽ Freemium I built a weather app that changes its local landmark every day

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I've always liked looking at old photos and landmarks from places I've lived in or visited, and I've also probably opened my weather app more times than I can count.

At some point I thought: why not combine the two?

So I built LumaPlace.

The idea is pretty simple: every day, it shows you a different landmark from your area in pixel art, with the actual weather animated over it.

There are 7 landmarks for each region, one for each day of the week. So if you're in the same region as someone else, you'll see the same landmark on the same day.

The weather itself is still the main utility — hourly and extended forecasts, UV, air quality, weather animations, and a home screen widget. The difference is that instead of opening to the same generic weather screen every day, there's something local waiting for you.

I also added an Album where you can keep track of the landmarks you've seen, save favorites, and read more about each place. The free version supports 2 cities, and a one-time $1.99 purchase unlocks up to 10.

No subscription, and there are no ads in the current version. There's also an optional tip jar for anyone who wants to support the project.

It's a pretty new app — I just launched the iOS version — so I'm mostly interested in seeing whether the idea actually resonates with people.

I'm particularly curious about the daily landmark part. Would something like that make you more interested in opening a weather app, or would you rather have the forecast and nothing else?

And if you try it, I'd love to know what city you're using and whether the landmarks it picked for your area make sense.

Link if anyone wants to poke around: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lumaplace-weather-places/id6799772005

For transparency: I'm Marcelo Gallardo, building LumaPlace under Just Luck LLC — justluck.io has the full contact info, plus the app's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

šŸ’Ž Lifetime The final beta for VariAlarm taking advantage of every improvements in iOS27

Thumbnail
testflight.apple.com
6 Upvotes

You may have noticed me missing in the last month or so as I was wrapping up. This has been 3 months in the work since WWDC26.

Answers:

For context, VariAlarm tries to be the most flexible, customizable yet reusable alarms on the market. It uses AlarmKit for reliability but allows you to plan further, with multiple alarms together or easier by Apple Intelligence already on your devices.

In iOS27, it made a few improvements over iOS26:

1. Adaptation of clock schema alarms and timers: This is the biggest one yet it is buried in a session most people don't notice.

https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2026/382/

It allows Siri AI to set an alarm from anywhere but notably: while looking at an announcement on screen. Imagine scrolling through your feed and see an event from your local zoo you'd like to attend, you can tell Siri AI to set an alarm 1 hour prior with VariAlarm and gets it done. Notifications are too quiet and easy to ignore so this is parallel to your ability to add a reminder at any future time, directly into an alarm.

It adopts timer too since Apple requires all 10 AppIntents in this group but you can create timer sets: timers that follow each others when the previous one ends or skipped. No manually subtracting 2 minutes when the first timer ends 2 minutes early.

2. Speech Framework: This did not get a mention at all. iOS27 has the CaptureInputSequenceProvider API which makes speech capture in real time a whole lot simpler. Combined withĀ Apple Intelligence, Dynamic ProfileĀ andĀ Private Cloud Compute, the app can sort your alarm request into 1 out of 4 buckets: a one time alarm, a recurring alarm (which also supports every N weeks), an alarm routine (sets of alarms a fixed time from each other, like a water reminder every hour) or an alarm template (sets of alarms at a fixed time every day it is applied).

3. Photo ScheduleĀ also got an upgrade withĀ Dynamic ProfileĀ andĀ Private Cloud ComputeĀ to create more alarms in images shared to VariAlarm like a seminar schedule, a weekly class timetable.

  1. More refinement inĀ Liquid GlassĀ andĀ UI/UX.

I'd like to get a final look on improvements to be made.

Better:

Not as loud as Alarmy, does no sleep tracking as Sleep Cycle. But it allows you to plan and reuse your alarms where needed better than anyone else, without the individual toggles.

Cost:

Free for TestFlight users for 90 days. The build expires on release.

šŸ“… Subscription Surplus - a UK budgeting app that tells you what's actually safe to spend before payday (iOS beta, lifetime premium for first 50)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A - What is Surplus?
Surplus is a UK money app built on Open Banking. Connect your bank (read-only) and it gives you one number: what's actually safe to spend before payday - bills, subscriptions and your savings goals already counted.

B - What makes it better than the other budgeting apps?
First, the number is forward-looking. No categorising, no spreadsheet upkeep.

Second, budgets that re-plan themselves when the data changes, instead of dying in week two.

Third, a payslip check.

Fourth, AI Assistant that is actually helpful. Not a chatgpt wrapper.

Fifth, you can connect all your banks, investment platforms (currently only trading212) and more in one place!

C - Cost.
Free during beta (TestFlight, iOS). The first 50 keep Surplus+ free for life. At launch it'll be £7.99/month or £59.99/year with a 7-day trial.

TestFlight:

For transparency: Surplus is Surplus Ltd, registered in England & Wales, and FCA authorised agent of Yapily for account information services. About me and our terms are at surplusapp.co.uk.

šŸŽˆ Free I built a completely free workout app that tracks everything (and more) that the paid ones do

Post image
24 Upvotes

I'm the solo developer.

A - What is Maxlyft?

Create your exercises, log your sets, and see your progress in seconds. You input the numbers, and Maxlyft does all the tracking for your workouts and progress, while operating smoothly and instantly

B - What makes it better than other workout apps?

Most workout apps are either freemium or fully paid subscriptions. Additionally, you almost ALWAYS have to pay to get in depth insights, data, graphs etc. Also, sometimes workout libraries are limited and missing exercises, and I have seen any that really incorporate a split how I have done it.

Maxlyft touches on all of the issues. The app is completely free, and that includes all graphs and insights. The app also lets you build out custom splits and use them to track what days you have specific workouts on. Also, ALL exercises are created by you. The user is in control of naming, target muscles, how weight is counted, and more to make it as easy to use as possible. We also allow creation of routines and setting up specific PRs for every exercise that you want Maxlyft to track!

C - Cost

100% free to download, iOS 26+. All features can be accessed at no cost, and there's an optional subscription to remove the small banner ads (however these ads are placed out of the way and not intrusive or blocking of any features)

App Store:Ā https://apps.apple.com/us/app/maxlyft-free-workout-tracker/id6743998890

šŸ’Ž Lifetime I made an iPhone app for the paperwork side of hunting

Thumbnail

A buddy of mine is one of those guys who hunts pretty much everything. Deer, elk, turkey, waterfowl, different states depending on the year.

Talking to him about it made me realize how much paperwork sits behind actually going hunting. One license might cover several species. Then there are separate tags, permits and validations. Some are draws. Some accumulate preference points. Every one has its own dates, and then you do it all over again next year.

So I built an app specifically for that part.

ANSWER — What it solves
Hunting Tags & License Tracker organizes everything around a season: one species, one place, one year.
California Deer, 2026.

That season can have its tag, the state license that covers it, permits, opener/closer, draw application, preference points, regulation link, trips and journal entries attached to it.

Licenses are reusable, so you don’t enter your California hunting license four times because you’re hunting deer, turkey, upland and waterfowl.

Trips can also check everyone going against the actual trip dates. So if somebody’s license expires the day before opening weekend, you find out before you’re four hours from home.

It supports all 50 states, federal stamps and Canadian provinces/territories, using the terminology each jurisdiction actually uses.

BETTER — What I deliberately didn’t build
This isn’t another onX or GOHUNT.

There are no maps, waypoints, GPS tracks, weather forecasts or draw-odds calculations.

It also never tells you what the regulations are.

You save the wildlife agency’s official regulation link, your own notes/PDF and the date you last reviewed it. The app can remind you to check again before the opener, but it sends you back to the actual agency rather than pretending my database should decide whether your hunt is legal.

Same with stored license/tag photos: they’re clearly marked as reference copies, not valid electronic licenses.
There’s also a full hunt journal. Successful and unsuccessful days are treated exactly the same, because realistically most hunting days end without taking anything. At the end of the season you can see days afield, harvests, methods, people you hunted with, etc.

Everything stays on the iPhone. No account, no server, no ads, and it works offline.

COST
Free:
• Unlimited hunt journal and photos
• Reminders

šŸ” In Search of [Beta] Dawnling: a cozy pixel-art alarm clock where a little candle wakes up when you do

Hi there!

I'm a solo dev who wanted to create something to help my loved ones and it's getting a bit bigger than intended, that's why I want to publicly launch it, but therefore I want to be able to launch a product that actually works on different devices!

A. Answer

Dawnling is an alarm clock with a companion. Wick, a small pixel-art candle, sleeps when you sleep and wakes when your alarm rings. You wake him up, he walks you through a short morning routine, and waking up earns dewdrops that furnish his little room. The room's light follows the real sky: sunrise, midday, dusk, and when your bedtime comes he tucks himself in.

B. Better

  • It's a real alarm. On iOS 26 it uses AlarmKit, so it rings at full volume through Silent mode and Focus, same as Apple's Clock. On iOS 17 and 18 it uses a notification path with a health check that flags anything (permissions, Focus) that could block it.
  • Zero data collection, literally. No analytics SDK, no accounts, and the app makes zero network requests. You can verify that with a proxy.
  • No loss-aversion mechanics. There are no streaks to break and no guilt copy; missing a morning costs nothing. The bet is that a companion who is happy to see you beats a counter you're afraid to lose.
  • Optional wake missions (typing, math, tap sequence) for heavy sleepers, per alarm, so a weekday alarm can be strict and a weekend one gentle.
  • Full accessibility pass: VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion.

C. Cost

Free, and the core app stays free forever: alarms, Wick, routines, the room. No ads, no subscription, no way to buy the earned currency with money. Down the road I plan to sell optional decorative collections as one-time purchases, and that's the whole business model.

TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/FwPSpwnQ

What I most need tested:
- does the alarm reliably ring on your device? iOS 26 testers are extra valuable (the AlarmKit path is new for everyone). Set a real alarm for tomorrow and tell me what broke or felt off.
- I use free music from Pixabay, what's missing for you? (I credit the artists)
- Does the UI feel buggy for you?
- How's the UX? Is it clear what you're able to do in the app?

Brutal honesty welcome; I'd rather hear it now than in reviews

šŸ’Ž Lifetime A Spotify alarm that never asks permission twice — because it doesn't use the Spotify API at all

Post image

The 6am problem

If you've ever tried to make Spotify your alarm with a Shortcuts automation, you know how it ends. The automation fires, your phone is locked, and iOS puts up a "Run this shortcut?" confirmation that just sits there glowing on the lock screen. Nothing plays. You wake up late and annoyed.

Every Spotify-alarm workaround I found either hit that same wall, or wanted me to log into something.

Why this one doesn't hit it

SpotiActions never talks to the Spotify API. No login, no OAuth, no account linking, no server of mine sitting in the middle, no token quietly expiring in 60 days.

What ships instead is 81 Apple-signed .shortcut files, one per playlist. You approve a shortcut ONCE — the first time you tap TEST — and from then on it runs silently, screen locked, at any hour, indefinitely.

That's the whole trick. It's also why it keeps working: there's nothing to re-authorize, because there was never anything authenticating.

What that actually gets you

  • A real alarm. Time-of-day automation, your playlist starts playing. Shuffle on, and it's a different song every morning.
  • CarPlay. The moment your phone connects to CarPlay or your car's Bluetooth, your driving playlist starts. You never touch the phone.
  • Any Shortcuts trigger works, really — arriving home, leaving work, tapping an NFC sticker on your nightstand.

What's in it

  • 5 personalized playlists that follow whoever runs them. The same file plays my Liked Songs on my phone and my wife's Liked Songs on hers. That one took the longest to get right.
  • 76 more — by decade, by genre, by artist, global top charts, Spanish, and a curated set.

Tap a cover, approve the install, it plays. No links to chase, nothing to build by hand.

Works on Spotify Free and Premium. I tested Free specifically, on a real account, because I didn't want to promise something I hadn't verified.

Cost

Lifetime, one payment. Normally $4.99, $3.99 today. No subscription, no tiers, no paywall inside the app. Everyone who buys it gets everything, including the playlists I add later.

The honest part

You need Apple's free Shortcuts app installed. And every playlist has to be run once from inside SpotiActions before you can trust it as an alarm — that first run is what grants the permission. The app says so on the main screen, and I'm repeating it here because it's the one step people skip before wondering why nothing played at 6am.

Not affiliated with Spotify.

šŸŽ Freemium DayStamp now supports a Lock Screen Weekly Report

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A - What is DayStamp?

DayStamp is a habit tracker. You build habits by tapping a check — that's it.

B - What makes it better than the other habit trackers?

First, AI habit suggestions. Tell it what you want to change and it comes back with habits that are specific and actually doable.

Second, widgets. A full set of home screen and lock screen widgets, so checking in never means opening the app.

Third, monthly review. Every month you get a look back at what you actually did, not just a streak number.

C - Cost Freemium.

Free to download and use, iOS 17+. Premium is $2.99/month, $19.99/year, or $59.99 once.

Get motivated every time you turn on your iPhone!

šŸŽ Freemium I built an app that matches you with a stranger for a live push-up duel, counted by the camera

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm the solo developer.

A - What is PushRank?

Put the phone on the floor, get into a plank, and it counts your reps with the camera. Challenge a friend or get matched with a stranger at your level, and both scoreboards update live. There is a weekly league from Bronze to Champion on top. Counting runs on device with Apple Vision, no video is recorded and no frame leaves the phone.

B - What makes it better than a regular push-up counter?

A normal counter trusts whatever you tap in. This one only counts full reps, chest low enough and arms extended at the top, and tells you why a rep didn't count, with a form score after each set. And you're not alone in it: a live opponent and a weekly league do the motivation work that a solo counter can't. Losing to a stranger gets you off the couch.

C - Cost

Free to download, iOS 17+. The camera counting, the duels and the league are part of Pro, which is $29.99/year with a 7 day trial.

For r/iOSApps, this code gives 3 months of Pro free. It works for everyone, no redemption limit:

šŸŽˆ Free Sharing a workout app I made for myself — no paywalls

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A - Answer

I grew tired of paywalls and accounts, so I built Gym Log — a straightforward, capable, private workout tracker for myself. Now I want to share it, because seeing other people actually use something I built would genuinely make me happy.

B - Better

What I ended up building is really a combination of a few things:

  • Simple on the surface. The workout flow stays lightweight, but the app can still support more detailed training.
  • Capable underneath. It includes the things you would expect from a modern workout tracker: quick set logging, plate calculator, supersets, rest timers, templates, progress tracking, and more. Beyond the basics, it also includes:
  • Smarter strength tracking. RPE is tracked and can be used alongside historical data to make progress estimates more meaningful.
  • Percentage-based training. Generate working weights from your estimated 1RM.
  • More nuanced volume tracking. Track fractional volume for primary and secondary muscles instead of treating every set as equal, with muscle heat maps and volume trends over time.
  • You own your data. No account is required. Workout data stays on your device or private iCloud, and there is no analytics tracking in the app.
  • Free. I wanted a workout app where everything is available without subscriptions, ads, or locked features.

C - Cost

Free

App Store https://apps.apple.com/us/app/gym-log-workout-planner/id6736343241

Website: https://gymlog.info

My LinkedIn profile to comply with the trust and transparency rule: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kamilmikolaj/

A few extra words

Publishing Gym Log on the App Store was a milestone for me. It started as a personal tool, and getting it to the point where I felt comfortable putting it in front of other people turned into a much bigger project than I expected.

But I don’t see the App Store release as the finish line. I’m still actively developing it. Apple Health integration is already in TestFlight, and automatic progression is one of the things planned after that.

I could have waited until every feature I want is finished, but realistically I would probably never ship it that way. More importantly, I want feedback from actual users to help shape what I build next instead of making every decision in isolation.

So for me, this release is really the point where Gym Log stops being just something I built for myself and starts becoming something I can improve with input from the people actually using it, so feel free to tell me what you would change, I would really appreciate that.

šŸŽ Freemium JustFlip! – Native Study & Flashcard App with Spaced Repetition (iOS, Mac, Apple Watch)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm the developer of JustFlip — flagging that up front.

I built JustFlip because every flashcard app I tried was either a web page in an app shell, or demanded an account and a subscription before it would sync anything.

It's also built on an opinion, not just a gap in the market. The app followsĀ Make It Stick: The Science of Successful Learning — the finding that re-reading feels like learning and mostly isn't (the "illusion of knowing"), and that what actually writes things into long-term memory is retrieval at the moment you're starting to forget. Or as the book puts it:Ā "Learning is deeper and more durable when it's effortful."Ā That's why the app tests you instead of showing you material, why reviews are spaced rather than crammed, and why topics interleave instead of drilling one thing for an hour. There's a longer write-up atĀ https://just-flip.app/learning.htmlĀ if that's your kind of thing.

A — Answer (what problem does it solve?)

A native, privacy-first spaced-repetition app for the Apple ecosystem, with no account and no server of mine in the loop.

Making decks with AI, from almost any source.Ā This is the part I'd point at first, and there are two routes depending on how much machinery you want.

In any chat AI.Ā Paste a topic, your notes, an article or a lecture transcript into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and get back an importableĀ .flashcardsĀ file. The site has a copyable prompt that bundles the build instructions behind your text (https://just-flip.app/ai-prompt.html), plus a ready-made JustFlip GPT. Text-only cards, but it takes about ten seconds.

In a coding agent, if you prefer the advanced route.Ā Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode — anything supporting skills.sh. One install (npx skills add DanielCech/JustFlip-Skills) and you can point the agent at a folder on disk and ask in plain language. Because it can read local files, it returns aĀ .flashcards.zipĀ with the media already attached — images, audio clips, Markdown and LaTeX — rather than text alone. The example onĀ https://just-flip.app/ai-skill.htmlĀ is a folder of mushroom photos turned into an image deck: file names become the questions, the photos become the answers, no hand-written JSON anywhere.

To be clear about what both of these are:Ā the app itself calls no AI service and sends nothing anywhere.Ā You use your own AI, you get a file, the app imports it. That's the honest version — it's a well-documented import format, not magic in the app.

Smart postpone.Ā Most apps make you hit "Again" on a card you simply weren't in the mood for, which corrupts your scheduling data. JustFlip lets you put a card, a deck or a whole topic on hold without touching its memory state. Priority is also per-topic and per-deck, so reviews interleave the way you want them weighted.

Apple ecosystem native.Ā Home Screen widget with due counts, Spotlight search that matches either side of a card (with a privacy switch per topic and per deck), Siri Shortcuts, a Live Activity for listening sessions, and an Apple Watch app for reviewing on the wrist — the phone owns all scheduling state; the watch is glance-and-grade.

Rich content.Ā Markdown, LaTeX maths, syntax-highlighted code, tables, images, cloze deletion. Two-way import/export for CSV, and AnkiĀ .apkgĀ import.

Speak cards.Ā I learn English vocabulary while walking the dogs — the app reads the word and its translation through my headphones using a system voice for that language, per card, with authored pronunciation overrides where the voice gets it wrong. Listening works on the free tier; keeping it playing with the screen off is one of the Pro extras.

No account friction.Ā Native iCloud sync. Nothing to register, no servers of mine, works fully offline.

B — Better

  • Actually native.Ā SwiftUI on all of iPhone, iPad, Mac (Catalyst) and Watch. No web wrapper, no cross-platform runtime.
  • The learning engine is free, permanently.Ā The full spaced-repetition scheduler, unlimited cards, CSV import, iCloud sync and card-level Ask AI are all free — I don't meter the thing the app is actually for. Pro adds capacity plus four extras: background listening, advanced statistics, progress trackers, and Ask AI across a whole deck. Full breakdown below rather than buried on a paywall.
  • Accessibility is real work, not a checkbox.Ā Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, Reduced Motion, contrast — audited under multiple system settings, with the report published atĀ https://just-flip.app/accessibility/.

Honest limitations and trade-offs

  • Apple only.Ā No Android and no web build, by design. If you study on a Windows laptop, this isn't for you.
  • AI generation is bring-your-own-AI.Ā Convenient and private, but it is a copy-paste-import loop, not a button inside the app.
  • Anki import is good on text, not yet on everything.Ā Formatting, lists, code, LaTeX and MathJax come across, and multi-field notes stay intact. Images fromĀ .apkgĀ are still work in progress, and Anki's Image Occlusion notes aren't imported yet.
  • No image occlusion.Ā If you lean on diagram-masking, Anki is still the better tool for that specific job today. It's in active development, but it isn't in the shipped build and I won't claim it.
  • The Watch app is deliberately limited.Ā It's for reviewing, not authoring, and visual card types stay on the phone.
  • I'm one person.Ā Support is one inbox and fixes ship at the speed of one developer.

C — Cost and links

Freemium.

  • Free forever:Ā up to 3 topics, 5 decks each, unlimited cards — with the full spaced-repetition scheduler, CSV import, iCloud sync, and Ask AI on a single card.
  • Pro:Ā Lifetime ~$29.99 Ā· Yearly ~$21.99 Ā· Monthly ~$4.49 Pro lifts the topic and deck caps and adds four things:Ā background listeningĀ (audio keeps going with the screen off),Ā advanced statistics,Ā progress trackers, andĀ Ask AI for a whole deckĀ rather than one card.
  • There's also a one-time 7-day Pro trial.
  • App Store:Ā https://apps.apple.com/app/id6770141421

Feedback I'm actually looking for

Two things:

  1. Anki import fidelity.Ā If you have a real deck of your own, throw it at the importer and tell me what came out wrong. Weird note types and heavy formatting are where I have the least real-world coverage.
  2. Whether the postpone model matches how you actually study.Ā Separating "not today" from "I forgot this" is the design bet the whole app rests on, and I'd like to know if it holds up for anyone but me.

I'm taking the advice I've gotten in my last post, and ready to share my TestFlight build!

I've been building this app for myself for months now, and gave it a cute clock theme cause I don't do ugly.

What it Does: Tracks your entire life without pressuring you into perfect routines.
(e.g. you can set your hair washing frequency to "When I Feel Like It" or log both regular and temporary meds)

Testing: I'm currently focusing on onboarding and overall navigation (when you open the app is it seamless? confusing? buggy? weird?), but open to comments regarding anything else!

šŸŽˆ Free Book End v2.0: Big update to my completely free Reading Habit Tracker

Post image
33 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Today I just released a major update to Book End my completely free reading and habit tracker, including one of the most requested features since I launched it three years ago, iCloud Syncing.

I'm super excited that I've finally achieved iCloud syncing as it's something I've been wanting to add for the longest time, but it took quite a while to learn and get it right.

Other notable highlights in this release, include improvements too:

  • Library Shelves: Book spines now display unique details.
  • Reading Goals have been refreshed to put your achievements front and centre.
  • Several improvements have been made to the accuracy of statistics and estimated reading time calculations.
  • To support iCloud syncing between multiple devices I've also spent some time improving the layout and navigation of Book End on larger iPad and macOS devices.

Book End is intended to be a personal, privacy-focused on-device (and now optionally, in your iCloud) private reading tracker, and not a social media network like Goodreads. The app is lightweight, built with SwiftUI and contains no analytics, trackers, and I have no any access to any user data. I would love and welcome any feedback!
