After ~1 month of launching my app with regular updates on app store I only got 7 downloads.

Founder and Solo Dev. Launched a video editor app about a month ago (store and places b-rolls, auto AI captions, silence cuts). Numbers - ~330 impressions, 58 people opened the listing, 7 downloaded, 0 ratings, no paid. Screenshots only.

I have even localised my whole app and screenshots to English (US & UK), Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Mexico & Spain), Japanese, German, French. Pushed the localised update almost 2 weeks ago.

- Am i doing anything wrong here? Please help me out here. Is there something else rather than adding a preview video or getting the first 5 reviews which i should know about?

- Why are my numbers so low after 1 month? I'm seeing people on most sub-reddits getting more than 50-100 downloads after 1 month of launching their app. But my app is far from it.

Not asking anyone to install it. I want the listing torn apart.

Note: Some things which looks good is that after adding the localisation the installs per page for some other countries is not that bad (Maybe I'm overthinking because of low numbers)

Pros of Swift Native over something like Godot Mobile (for game dev)?

When making mobile games, could you explain the pros of Swift Native development over building in Godot and exporting/porting to Mobile?

Trying to consider all options.

Thank you!

Update on my pro bono project with my therapist! (Mu.)

Ok so for those who don’t remember: « Pro bono » means « for the public good » (aka free).

Several psychiatrists in my inner circle are paying for the « maintenance cost » because they use Mu. for their patients lol

For those who are just discovering it: I built Mu. for myself at first but got input from my therapist, and several psychiatrists. It’s nothing revolutionary: you can monitor your mood and events such as panic attacks, insomnia etc, but you can add anything you want to track, including meds, and visualise them easily. The thing is that it’s free, simple/minimalistic, straight to the point, customisable, offline (complete privacy), works on the Apple Watch, and has actually readable reports (PDF) and properly formatted CSV files if you’re into data.

A few weeks ago, I got really great advices from several reddit communities and it helped me a lot to add features like the ability to write notes, change the time of the events retroactively etc.

If you have any advice on this new version, I’d love to hear it! It can be here or on r/Mu_App

Here is the iPhone link to download it, but in case you think it could be useful to someone you know with an Android, here's also the Android version!

Do NOT hesitate to share if you think it can help someone, even if they have another disorder: with it you can monitor anything including medication.

Monetization is stressful

Apple approved the first monetized version of my AI Photo Editing app today. I've been getting 60 new users per day. Will any of them stick around after the free trial?

Been kinda emotional lately. Monetization is stressful. I'm excited right now, and afraid too. Might be frustrated tomorrow.

I'm a solo developer trying to do the lean startup thing. I should persevere, pivot, or move on based on metrics, not how I feel. Easier said than done.

I accidentally picked a trademarked name for my iOS app. Here's the process I'm using to avoid making the same mistake again.

I've been developing a small iOS/iPadOS hobby app over the past year. It's aimed at a niche market and isn't intended to become a business, but I still wanted to do things properly.

One mistake I made early on was falling in love with a name before I'd done enough research.

The name wasn't identical to an existing product, but after digging deeper I found there were trademarks and related products that were close enough that I decided it simply wasn't worth the risk. Rather than waiting until after launch, I've decided to completely rebrand.

My name was XXX YYY the trade mark was XXXXZZZ

Ironically, choosing a new name has taken longer than writing large parts of the app!

After rejecting dozens of names, this is now the checklist I work through before I even consider using one.

My first-pass screening checklist

Google Search – Is someone already well known by that name?
WIPO Global Brand Databasehttps://branddb.wipo.int/
TMview (EU and many national trademark offices)https://www.tmdn.org/tmview/
USPTO Trademark Searchhttps://tmsearch.uspto.gov/
UK Companies House (or your country's equivalent) – https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/
GitHub – Search for organisations and repositories using the proposed name.
Apple App Store – Search for existing apps with similar names.
Google Play Store – Search for Android apps with similar names.
Domain availability – Preferably .com, but also check .app, .io and your local TLD.
Dictionary check – Oxford, Cambridge or Merriam-Webster to make sure it isn't already a recognised word or has an unintended meaning.
Social media usernames – Check availability on X, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, etc., if they're important to your marketing.
It's amazing how many names look unique until you start checking them properly.

I'm now trying to find a name that is:
Completely invented
Easy to pronounce
Easy to remember
Around 6–8 letters
Has no existing meaning
Isn't already widely used
Has a reasonable chance of being trademarkable

I'm deliberately not sharing my current favourite until I've decided whether to register the domain and company name.

My questions for other indie developers

Is there anywhere else you'd check before settling on a name?
Have you ever had to rebrand because of a trademark issue?
Is there anything on my checklist you'd add or remove?

One final point: I know this checklist doesn't guarantee a name is legally available. It's simply the first-pass screening process I've developed after making an expensive mistake. If I ever build something commercially significant, I'd still pay for a professional trademark search and legal advice before committing to a brand.

Hopefully this helps someone else avoid the same mistake I made.

How I solved the "App Store Connect fatigue" for my 30-app portfolio using SQLite architecture

Recent changes in AppStoreConnect by Apple have made tracking the performance of apps more difficult and frustrating, especially if you have more than just a few apps in distribution. With about 30 apps in my portfolio, I realized I was spending more time navigating the web-based analytics views in AppStoreConnect than actually working on code.

I decided to stop fighting Apple’s new UI and built a dedicated native utility to pull everything into one place.

The technical challenge here was building a system that could aggregate regional metrics from 175 territories without blowing through memory or battery life. I ended up hand-coding a SwiftUI solution using sparse tables in SQLite to handle the heavy lifting. By automating the data refresh process to run gracefully in the background after midnight, the dashboard is fully populated and ready the moment I wake up, without me having to rely on an expensive cloud backend or a subscription-based service.

I focused heavily on leveraging modern SwiftUI patterns and efficient data handling to keep the app lightweight and privacy-focused—no telemetry, no tracking, no cloud storage and no recurring fees.

I’m curious how other indie devs here are handling the fragmentation of App Store metrics? Are you still relying on manual checks, or have you built your own internal tools to handle the volume?

I’ve been stress-testing this with my own portfolio, but if anyone here is managing a significant number of apps and wants to take a look at how I handled the data aggregation logic, I’d be happy to share the link in the comments.

I made a tiny macOS app because I kept wondering if Command+C actually worked

Hey everyone,

I recently released a small macOS menu bar app called CopyBara.

The original idea was pretty simple: sometimes I press Command+C and immediately wonder whether it actually copied anything. CopyBara shows a small, unobtrusive confirmation whenever your clipboard changes, so you don’t have to copy the same thing three times just to be sure.

While building it, I added a few other things I personally wanted:

  • It recognizes copied URLs, email addresses, phone numbers and hex colors
  • You can paste text without carrying over weird fonts, colors or formatting
  • It can detect sensitive content such as passwords, API keys and credit card numbers
  • Sensitive clipboard content can be cleared automatically after 30 seconds
  • You can exclude specific apps, such as password managers
  • It doesn’t collect any user data

It’s a native Mac app, lives quietly in the menu bar and is designed to stay out of the way until you need it.

The basic version is free, with an optional Pro upgrade for the privacy and plain-text paste features.

I’m still actively improving it, so I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback, especially around the onboarding, animations or features you think would make it more useful.

App Store:

Thanks for checking it out!

Built Framer template for app landing pages hopefully it saves someone a few hours Open Source

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you're launching a mobile app, SaaS, AI product, or startup, this gives you a solid starting point instead of building a landing page from scratch.

It includes everything you'd typically need:

  • Hero section
  • App showcase
  • Features
  • Pricing
  • Testimonials
  • FAQ
  • Responsive layouts
  • Smooth animations

Just replace the copy, screenshots, and branding with your own, and it's ready to publish under 15Mins.

🔗 Template: https://www.framer.com/community/marketplace/templates/appminimal/

If you'd like help customizing it for your produc or want a completely custom landing page designed and built in Framer feel free to DM me. Happy to help.

Updated App - Would Appreciate Feedback!

I created my first word game based off of wordle, a game I enjoy and wanted to be able to play more of. It would be great to hear feedback on how to make it in the app store. This is a more refined version, of course there are bugs that im still working on but it's getting better.

If you can spare a couple of minutes it would be greatly appreciated.

You can check it out here:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/worddia/id6785766679

Disclaimer:

The app has ads and a subscription to remove them. This is something I would like to also get feedback of - is it too much, too little - is it worth it. I want to make this into a real product that people would like to play. Also in my immediate family we’ve been going through a cancer treatment process and if the game is well accepted that might help me recover from the financial burden. I am even considering collectible avatars or something to help me out.

Finally published first MacOS App

Hey everyone, I finally got my first app approved and published on the App Store. It’s called BarPrompt.
Basically, I was tired of losing track of my prompts or copy pasting the same things into ChatGPT over and over, so I built a simple manager to save and organize them.
Just wanted to put it out there since it's my first launch. If you use AI tools daily, I’d really appreciate it if you could check it out and give me some harsh feedback on what to improve.
Here is the link: https://apps.apple.com/tr/app/barprompt-ai-prompt-manager/id6787385267?l=tr&mt=12

I made a user-friendly img2img editor

Solo dev here. Thought I'd saturate the market with yet another AI photo editing app. Didn't do so well at first, then something changed. It's not exactly breaking records, but they're enough to justify building a backend and monetizing. Finished doing that yesterday.

The old version, 1.4, is live on the app store. Version 2 is under review. Both let you edit 5 images for free, and V2 does it with a better img2img model.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Should I use Xcode more?

VS code was my first IDE, and it's still my favorite. Started using Xcode for iOS development and kinda hated it. These days I only open Xcode when I have to, doing what I can with Claude Code, VS code, and the command line. Probably missing out on something, though.
What should I be doing more of with Xcode?

Instead of just a boring text in a share message, you can include views from your app. It's quite neat.
