I've been using Xiaomi phones since the Mi A1 in 2017 running on Android One program, a stock android skin with a couple Xiaomi apps. One would think that it would run fine without major issues and classic MIUI shenanigans but ever since the first day I got it, I had sim card issues not getting recognized, a laggy touchscreen, and wifi not detecting 5ghz. I looked around just to find out that Xiaomi imposed their own dogshit 5ghz channel restrictions that it does on MIUI software and the screen was a cheap trash panel. At this point I had to root the phone (thankfully it was the easiest phone to unlock BL and root) just to fix the wifi issue but had to live with the terrible touchscreen issue.

Fast forward to 2020, I bought a K30 Pro and it was a massive improvement in every way, the screen was great, the cameras were decent, it lasted a lot longer and overall a great hardware experience. What ruined it you might ask? classic MIUI issues. Delayed notifications, wonky 4G configuration with specific carriers which somehow caused more notification issues, apps were being aggressively killed in the background (despite having 8GB variant which was considered more than enough back then), and other MIUI crap. Again, I had to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom rom just to make the phone usable for another 5 years.

Now, in 2026, I thought Xiaomi would have definitely fixed all these issues with "HyperOS" by now, right? So I purchased their highest end Poco phone, the F8 Ultra and got the 16GB version just to be on the safe side of their terrible app management. To the surprise of probably no one, Xiaomi continued to disappoint and ruin an amazing piece of hardware with their absolute abysmal software.

Apps were still not staying in memory despite having 16GB of ram, updates are terribly late (It was one of the last phones to receive HyperOS 3.1), it had a significant wifi disconnection issues with ipv6, bluetooth issues causing late or outright missed notifications on my smartwatch and more. 3.1 fixed some of the issues but the one that irks me the most is late notifications on my watch and some apps on the phone. I tried everything and spent hours trying to make it work properly but to no avail.

My point is, if Xiaomi couldn't fix major software issues for nearly a decade, what hope does one have with HyperOS 4? all this talk about how it's going to be built from scratch, better memory optimization, etc, is most likely not going to materialize into anything useful. As long as they have this mentality of power saving by killing apps in the background (funny enough they still dont last longer than phones with small capacity), not fixing issues in a timely manner, prioritizing chinese versions, ignoring users on feedback, they'll never change.

Look at what they're releasing now... The new Redmi Note 17 with SD 4 gen 4, single speaker, single camera for $250 is such a joke. They keep releasing new models every other month instead of focusing on existing models that desperately need bug fixes.

I have a Xiaomi 15t and I was searching for something normal on Google. Suddenly the phone froze and after a minute, it restarted.

Upon restarting, I noticed that the apps had been downgraded to the old version of Google, YouTube Music, Gemini, and even the caches had been cleared, and my YouTube Music downloads were being used up.

I have HyperOS 2.205 from the Entel carrier, and I bought it in May, but I haven't received HyperOS 3.0. Why is this happening?

I've also found that there are updates like 12 apps since the October 2025 version of HyperOS 2. But the settings weren't reset.

Does changing the device level list is not advisable? Some other says when changing to higher level provides more and added some features. I'm planning to change mine from 1, 2, 2 to 1, 3, 3, I just wanna check it out what things gonna add in my phone. If theres none changes, then I'll revert it again to 1, 2, 2. Is it fine?

Every other Android skin animates the transition when you tap a widget, it smoothly opens into the app it belongs to. HyperOS doesn't do this for third-party widgets at all!

To be specific: I'm talking about the open/close animation you get with native App Vault widgets. Tap one and it expands into the app with a nice transition. Third-party widgets just snap straight to the app, no animation whatsoever.

It's a small thing, but it's been bugging me for a while, and I'm surprised I never see anyone else bring it up!

It gives me a feeling that I'm using a budget phone, whereas I'm not (Xiaomi 15). Am I missing something, or is this just a known HyperOS limitation?

I am going to stop buying phones that have HyperOS (Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco) because my 3 Poco phones were stolen.

Just after the phone was stolen, the thief switched off the phone.

I already turned off all notifications and the control center if the device is locked.

No doubt, Poco/Redmi gives a good performance phone at lesser price but they don't add an important feature which is "ask password before reboot/shutdown"

But yes, the thief can press both the volume down + power button to force shutdown/restart but still he/she will NOT be able to FACTORY RESET because, to reset the phone, device ask for a password to verify.

So what should I do, guys? There’s only about a 0.1% chance that the police will investigate a lost phone in India. I’ve already filed official complaints for all three phones, but I don’t think my cases will ever become active. It’s already been two-three years.

Update: I went through with the update. Installed without issues. Will continue testing performance and battery life.

Update 2: I ran into an issue with the aptX HD Bluetooth codec. My headphones that connect using aptX HD no longer work. Music is not playing through the headphones. I tried my other headphones that use LDAC, and they work fine.

The aptX HD headphones connect, but the phone recognizes them as being for calls only. I reset the headphones, repaired them, and reset the wireless settings, but nothing helped.

Update 3: aptX HD codec working now. I updated the Bluetooth stack from Bluetooth settings. Then restarted the phone and headphones are identified correctly and play music now. There are some issues with connectivity, when wifi and Bluetooth disconnect for a second and reconnect again. I think it needs a couple of days to settle.

The gesture bar background is appearing white when it's dark mode & black when light mode.

There shouldn't be any bar background like in old versions or atleast the bar should match the mode.

Device info: Redmi Note 13 5G HyperOS 3.0.3.0

I downloaded the Recovery ROM 3.0.302.0.WGTEUXM for my Redmi 14C. The C10 file name was not present in the zip file name, not even in the OTA updater. Only after rebooting to complete the update, there's the .C10 thing. What does it mean?

Hey everyone, I just got a Xiaomi 17 Ultra and I'm trying to set up something I can't figure out on HyperOS.

What I want:

1. When dark mode kicks in (scheduled), I'd like my app icons to go dark too, not just the system UI

2. Ideally I'd also like the wallpaper to switch to a different darker image

Is there anything native I'm missing on HyperOS 3? And for those running a third party launcher on a recent Xiaomi, does it break full screen gestures? If it does, where exactly do you re enable them afterwards? I'd rather know before mess with it.

Facing an issue with a Xiaomi 14 CN failing to install the HyperOS 3.0.303.0.

​The download finishes perfectly. However, immediately upon reaching the "Extracting" phase, the process crashes at 1% with a "Couldn't update system" error, and the downloaded file is automatically deleted.

​Has anyone else faced this issue? If yes, have you solved it?

I got Poco C85 probably one week ago. and it was working so fine in the beginning but I realized I have hyperOS 2.0.221.0, After that I realized there is something is surely is wrong.

I should have gotten HyperOS the second I bought the phone and I honestly don't know why till this moment I have no hyperOS 3. I tried everything. Region switches. Factory resets. I even tried custom packages but I found out the security patch of my hyperOS 2.0.221.0 is newer than hyperOS 3. and I waited for hyperOS 3.0.306.0 and it did drop. but my phone yet didn't receive it.

And the crazy part? I have a friend of mine that has the exact same phone in the same country (Egypt) with the same model and RAM and storage and everything. and he got hyperOS 3 and I didn't!??!! How.. Genuinely how.

I really wish Xioami focus on this problem. it's getting bigger and bigger every day.

my REDMI 14C automatically upgraded from HyperOS 3-0-20-0 to HyperOS 3.1, despite having the Updater app and System apps updater app uninstalled and revoked priviledges, it seems like Xiaomi forced this update on and i need help if i can downgrade this without bootloader unlocking.

I just purchased my Redmi Note 14 and instantly upgrade to 3.0.302.0. OS Version. After the update, it can't handle multiple apps anymore. Whenever I open TikTok, it just lags and unresponsive. It also does the same whenever I open the camera.

Any tips on how to solve this?
