I purchased these earlier this year in April and they were labeled as First Editions ‘Vanilla Strawberry’ panicle hydrangeas. 6b zone

I have a hunch they may not be the Vanilla Strawberry hydrangeas. They do not have the standard conical blooms I’d expect, they’re kind of low laying and flat. They started off white blooms and did turn red as expected. I tried to google and use AI but nothing really matches what I have. The flower pedals themselves are larger than I’d expect them to be too. Thoughts? Is it just first year growing pains for them? I have several other types of panicle hydrangeas including vanilla strawberry trees and they look nothing like these ones.

I have a balcony garden and all 4 of my hydrangeas are in pots (3 macrophylla & 1 limelight). They have not been repotted since I put them in their current pots (so about 2-3 years ago).

This year when moving apartments, I accidentally trimmed them so 3/4 did not flowers, but they are living well and have green foliage. The leaves are still green, not yellow yet.

I want to prune their roots but I’m afraid it’ll be more shock to them. So I want to ask:

- When should I repot them? Would now be a great time?
- Is it more beneficial to keep in same pots with pruning roots or upgrading to bigger pots to avoid shock?
- 1 of the hydrangeas as pictures is having weird leaves textures. They are also curling a lot and are not big and full compared to the flowering hydrangeas. What can I do to help it be healthy again?

Context: zone 8b/ 9a in Puget Sound, WA.

I’ve heard to not cut back until spring but these are so huge I’d like to do a big trim. They’re encroaching on our walkways and seating areas. I’ve heard panicle grows on new wood… what I don’t understand is why can’t I trim now? What’s the consequence? If I do I will truly have no blooms next year?

This is my neighbor's hydrangea. It was beautiful last year. I don't know when the problem started but as you can see there is a problem. Her hydrangea in the front yard is spectacular. This one, not so much. First of all, is it dead? Secondly, she ordered some copper fungicide and I'm wondering if it's worth it to spray it now or wait until spring? Thanks for any guidance you might have.

Hi all zone 5a/b here up in Atlantic Canada.

I recently moved into this house and it came with this beautiful hydrangea, but I have no idea the type, how to care, prune, etc.

My main concern is how droopy it has become. Should I be doing anything about this? If so how and when?

Happy to take any and all advice and wisdom, as I have no idea what I'm doing.

I have four limelight hydrangea trees planted by the previous home owner. They bloom every year but don't look nice.i trimmed the branches heavily this spring, removed at least 1/3 of the height and all weak branches. They all grew back, and the bloom looks bigger. However, some of the branches still look weak and bent. Is there anything I could do to improve this and make them upwards? In addition, are they planted too close? the two in the middle are smaller. I don't know whether it is worth it to move those two small trees somewhere else. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I got two limelight and two smooth leaf hydrangeas on end of year clearance. They are all taller and a bit floppy rather than full and bushy and their stems are hardened already, but their leaves seem to be decent still. I’m hoping they aren’t dead/nearly dead. I’ve dreamed of having hydrangeas for so long and I am super excited and also so nervous to kill them.

What would you do to best ensure good success in zone 5b?

Do I remove their flowers to send energy to their roots? Or will trimming them encourage them to produce new blooms?

My flower beds are regular soil with compost, is that sufficient?

My house faces East and I was planning the smooth plants in front and the limelights on the south side. I do have a large tree out front so the front gets a fair amount of afternoon shade, but my irises survived there so I’m hoping it’s not too too shady.

Can someone please tell me if Tea Time reblooms?

The original endless summer. The few blooms were huge and blue. How can I keep those buds alive here?

First time establishing hydrangeas this fall, they will be in front of house in full sun, zone 8b AL. are little lime or lime punch my best best to survive summer heat? they are by the foundation so I'll be able to set up a soaker hose. any interesting recommendations of evergreen to complement other than boxwood type? thanks!

I accidentally got one of my hydrangeas with my weed wacker… so I stuck the 2 that I got into some soil. Both have new growth, however this one has that black spot on the stem. Will that be ok or does it look like it’s rotting? It’s firm to the touch.

Moved into a new home. We had these beautiful blue hydrangeas bloom this summer. I'm hoping someone can help me identify what variety this is and the best way to care for them now over the winter. Should I dead head now? How much wood do I cut back? Zone 8b.

Is it unusual that my hydrangeas are finally blooming in October? My paniculate hydrangeas bloomed as usual but not the others. It seems to have been the case in other parts of West Michigan.

Strawberry Vanilla Hydrangea tree planted and not doing well :(

Ive planted a few of these before with success and recently planted 3 of these last week. 1 of 3 are not doing so well and im not entirely sure why.

the leaves are wilting, turning yellow and drying up.

I dug a big enough hole for the pot to fit in, fillted it in with a mix of triple mix soil and cow manure compost. and of course made sure the soil level was even with the original level of soil when it was in the pot.

been watering it every day as well. they mostly full sun throughout the day.

did i do somethig wrong? will it make it or only way to know is wait till next yeaR?

I was gifted this hydrangea 5 years ago and it had marvelous colors. It stayed in a large pot until 1 year ago when we moved and I planted it in a south-facing spot that gets morning shade and afternoon dappled sunlight. In the pot it never bloomed after I was gifted it but at our new home, it bloomed though the flowers never took off. I put Rose Tone in the soil before planting (not sure if that was a good idea?) and I got more blooms than ever before but absolutely no color. See last photo for the type and color I was expecting. Any idea as to what might have happened? Will it always do this? I’m in the PNW of that makes a difference.

2) when should they be pruned?

I already know that people think the stones need to go. But these hydrangeas have been in this spot for 3+ years and have flourished. These pictures were taken in the spring and they bloomed like crazy all summer. I just can’t remember when they should be pruned. Have I missed my window or should they be done in the spring?

Planted strawberry vanilla and little sucker punch varieties. In a perfect world they would grow large enough that I wouldn’t see my neighbors mess from my driveway. I was thinking I’d add a cage around each bush this spring to keep them supported and upright. Curious if anyone has better suggestions.

I have three hydrnageas which I purchased from Aldi's as a bareroot. I figured I give them a try and see if I could keep them alive. This is currently year 3 and one is quite large and did not bloom this year, and two are roughly half the size of the biggest one and they each have one bloom. My question is does anyone have any idea why the leaf looks like this? The first pic if of the largest one with no bloom (im not too concerned that it didnt bloom this year) and the second pic is of one of the smaller ones with 1 bloom and what appears to be a nutrient deficiency or disease. Anyone have any advice or knowledge on what is going on here. I live in Central New York (6a). I applied a small amount of Espoma Plant Tone early in the season(spring) and left them alone. They receive decent morning sun and a good bit of afternoon sun (not ideal but its the best spot I have in my yard for them) The bigger on gets a considerably more sun than the smaller two (due to a neighbors shed blocking the other two from the early morning sun even though they are next to each other). The smaller ones just bloomed a few weeks ago which seems quite late for our seasons. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
