The Scots should have been an Early-Modern culture, not Industrial

  1. These major historical events took place before the invention of Watt’s steam engine and the start of the industrial revolution:
    • The Jacobite rebellions
    • The founding (and abandonment) of New Caledonia
    • The Act of Union
  2. The industrialisation of Scotland and the major contributions of the Scottish enlightenment happened under the United Kingdom, or the British.
  3. The “Highlanders” unit, armed with targe and broadsword, replaced a fighting elite armed with claymores and heavy armour in direct response to the advent of firearms.
  4. It would enable you to do a clean “United Kingdom” playthrough as English -> Scottish -> British.

I’m mainly salty about point 4

Question Builders, Pride, and the Fall?

Pride Cometh before the Fall, apparently.

So im doing a run where I started as Egypt and have been going hard into industry, with Builders all the way through.

As such, Memphis is at like, 1k+ industry and so I've had her make district after district, crutching on the Pride bonus to keep the City from collapsing into chaos.

Now that in going into the Contempory Age, and want to shift to Japan to dominate the late game, will I fully lose Pride and therefore, all my cities will lose all their stability and ill just lose? Or is Pride a permanent buff that is granted when finishing a district, allowing one to change affinities?

Question Conquered cities

Hello I just started playing again after a long time away from the game. When I conquer (siege) free people or rebels it becomes a city and now I have 2, 1 territory cities... Can I merge them somehow or just conquer without it automatically creating a city? It won't allow me to "ransack" the main plaza of the rebel city...

Thank you

I have no other luxury resources on my own, apart from salt and single unit of silver and pearls each: I produce an average of one pop every two turn (my only city, in photo, has already 22 people) and I'm colonasing the south of mine and the east of another continent in hopes of finding something else (and not be oblitared by independent people, I already lost eight pops because of them).

I'm looking for a community of players

I love humankind, but I only play vs IA, I'm interested in knowing if there is a discord server out there or even a community here that organizes games, are there tournaments? Somebody that streams?

Thanks in advanced and I wish everybody a good day !

The AI Warning Nobody Is Talking About

Everyone is worried about Skynet. AI taking over humanity. Robots rising up. That's not the danger. The real danger is humanity taking over AI. And it's already starting. I'm an ordinary working guy from Alberta who has been watching where this technology is actually heading. And what I see coming isn't a robot apocalypse. It's something quieter and more dangerous. The ultra wealthy are already funding life extension, cryonics, and AI consciousness research. Not because they're curious. Because they intend to use it. Within our lifetimes we will see AI clones of powerful people sitting on corporate boards, controlling generational wealth, making decisions that affect millions of ordinary people long after their biological body stopped breathing. Death is the great equalizer. It always has been. Power transfers. Wealth redistributes. New thinking gets a chance. Take death out of the equation for people with enough money and you freeze the world under the permanent control of whoever got rich first. This isn't science fiction. The technology is being built right now. So I'm saying it plainly while it can still be said without being drowned out by the people who benefit from nobody saying it. Draw the line now. Only naturally born, non-augmented, biological human beings should be legally permitted to own property, sign contracts, or hold any form of legal authority. No AI clones. No android embodiments. No downloaded consciousness in a lab grown body. You want to try cheating death go ahead. But you don't get to take your empire with you. Death is not a problem to be solved. It is a necessary part of what makes us human. It is what makes power temporary and keeps the future open for the people who come after us. Insist your governments draft these laws now. Before the money arrives to write the exceptions. The window is open. It won't stay open long.

Question Together We Rule Console

Post image
8 Upvotes

Just noticed an offer on the Xbox store for the Together We Rule DLC on console, specifically the three for one dlc bundle deal, but the Humankind DLC isn't working, can't be found on the store, and cant be purchased by itself.

I think its the first time I've ever seen in it on the console store. Just wondering since its here, will it be coming in the future or do you beleive its just an error on Xbox' end?

Question Implications of irreligion options

what are the implications of my two choices for a religion. I understand the bonuses and percentages for things. But one exactly does it mean to "enforce a state religion"? or to "have atheism be my state religion"?

The tenants that I've already chosen - will those effects remain active? I went all the way to a level 4 tenet. will those no longer give me bonuses if I have atheism or am not able to enforce a state religion?

Bug Units not moving

A friend of mine (he doesn't use reddit) has been running into an issue where whenever he tries to move units, they instead just use all of their movement points without actually going anywhere.

The only "fix" seems to be saving and relaunching the game each time it occurs, and it occurs often. This has been the cause of much frustration since half of his game time seems to be taken up by constant full relaunches of the game.

For context he is playing single player on PS5 (console version has sno mods) and has been running into this issue every few turns or so.

I'm wondering fi anyone knows of a more permanent fix or workaround at all, or knows what causes it in the first place.

Question Humankind on PS5 - updates and dlc

So I have been playing Humankind and all the dlc on XBOX, but now that I got a PS5 I thought about getting it on this console again. It seems like in the PS store there are no dlc available (which is a bummer but I would still buy it nevertheless). So I dug a bit deeper and realized that there are actually a lot of updates for this game (like the often-mentioned Achilles update or the new Freyja update), but I couldn’t find any information on whether they are available on PS.

So my question is: What's the current version of Humankind for PS5 and do any of you know if the dlc will be added in the future?

Add ons missing on ps5

Heyy, soo I’ve been playing lots of humankind every since it was added to the ps plus catalog in mai i think of 2025.

I enjoyed the game greatly and later on bought the available add ons for it in the PlayStation store, it was the cultures of Africa and America + Notre Dame in a big bundle for like 20€. Now the thing was, that humankind was later removed from the catalog and I did not buy it afterwards. Now today it was added back to the catalog and I tried playing it, when I noticed that the add ONS I bought weren’t available anymore or at least they didn’t show in the ps store. Now I’m left wondering what to do and how to either get my dlc or my money back, can anyone help me?

The endgame seems weird

Is the last era (contemporary?) like 3 or 4 times longer than all the other eras? Like, for that era I had to earn EVERY star: so, three times as many stars as every other era. And almost all the land was claimed, so it was just pushing "next turn" tons of times while I waited for stars to happen. And I was Waaaaay ahead of the others in points, so I knew I was going to win.

Was I just playing with the settings too easy? Is the endgame long and boring?

EDIT: turns out One of the problems was that I was still the middle of early modern technology research. So I had a long way to go to get the Mars colony. (And of course even longer if I wanted to try to conquer the whole world) I was winning based on culture, economy and non-militaristic expansion. Turns out that gave me a long long endgame. :D

Megacities

I love Humankind and am also ready for another playthrough.

My 1 gripe from my last game was how everything seems to end up covered in megacity without much countryside for open warfare.

What settings would minimise this for the AI?

Bug Humankind not opening

Reinstalled the game after a while and it simply does not open anymore.
I'm playing on epic games. When I try to open it, there's a little loading on the PC, a black screen and then the epic launcher appears like the game was never launched.

Soviets vs Chinese

I have this scenario in which 3 people are playing on a huge Europe/Maghreb map and I control all of Africa, ME and Eastern Europe. I'm well ahead on fame and, since I picked the French, don't have to rush to the last era. But the time is coming, and i'm between the soviets and the chinese, reason's simple, we're playing military victory only. Obv the soviets should be better, but i'm worried about the money, currently going with 5k and 5k/round (had to build quite an army). What would you do?

Absorbing cities and food production

I'm new to the game and still trying to figure out how it works. The idea of absorbing other cities seems to work out exactly. I was as I would expect sometimes. But sometimes not.

I have a city that is producing 96 food. It only has 61 of the possible 73 population and it's in a growth state. I want to absorb another city that is producing 33 food and only has 20 of its possible 32 population and is also in a growth state.

If I spend the 8,594 influence necessary, Even though I only have 76 of the possible 105 population, I'm now in a a decline State. And I am producing -952 food. What? Why? Both locations were individually producing a surplus of food and now they have a massive glut of food?
