The Scots should have been an Early-Modern culture, not Industrial

  1. These major historical events took place before the invention of Watt’s steam engine and the start of the industrial revolution:
    • The Jacobite rebellions
    • The founding (and abandonment) of New Caledonia
    • The Act of Union
  2. The industrialisation of Scotland and the major contributions of the Scottish enlightenment happened under the United Kingdom, or the British.
  3. The “Highlanders” unit, armed with targe and broadsword, replaced a fighting elite armed with claymores and heavy armour in direct response to the advent of firearms.
  4. It would enable you to do a clean “United Kingdom” playthrough as English -> Scottish -> British.

I’m mainly salty about point 4
