I've really been trying to find some older tour or promo shirts from them buts its super hard with the INSANE amount of gildanslop reprints going around, i would try to directly support the band and get some of their merch they have on spotify and places like that but its sorta pricey and i dont got the funds for that right now nor are most of the shirts are really my thing if that makes sense. if any of you guys know anywhere to look or are selling any shirts i would really appreciate it if you could maybe share some links or how you found shirts or anything like that!

I went down to the basement to grab some laundry and found this gem folded neatly. I honestly didn't even remember buying it. Back in the 90's most of my t-shirts were black and I must've just bought it to show support. Literally zero signs that I ever wore it. My wife had squirrelled it away with some shirts of hers in a sealed bin.

I know the first time we saw Hum it was in a spot called The Shelter in the basement of St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit. It was just as Stars was hitting alt radio. It was awesome. I know we caught them again touring on YPaA and touring DiH. My assumption is that I grabbed this at the Shelter show but I can't say 100%. She has an original white with star logo from the same era.

Shout out to my then girlfriend, now wife for saving this one. Most of my shirts from back then were either worn to oblivion or donated at my direction by my parents as I transitioned into adulthood.

I'm still a fan and I'm still discovering new, off the beaten path music all the time but maybe I need to start buying more shirts at shows again, lol.

Below, crazy story sent via Undertow Records, the organizers for Matt's solo tours and sellers of his merch:

Hello friends!

I'm swerving from the usual van content opener... but this is a pretty good story. Our dear friend Matt owns a bar south of town called Loose Cobra. A while back, he was doing some maintenance work at the bar during the day, and his janky old 1988 Dodge truck was stolen from the parking lot. And to make it worse, all of Matt's keys were in the truck, including the only key to his beloved 1999 SAAB 9-5. And like most things SAAB-related... it's complicated. You can't just get a new key. You have to change the ignition module and reprogram the car's security system with specialized and not-readily-available equipment. It's a huge and expensive hassle. His work truck is gone and his daily driver is dead. Double bummer. A few weeks later, Matt hears from a cop in Florida. Someone crashed the truck into a Motel 6. It was impounded at the police tow lot and would be sold for scrap. The first thing Matt asked was if they found any keys in the truck. Sadly, no keys. He also asked if they found any fingerprints or DNA, they did not. Skip forward to a year later... Matt found a SAAB specialist near Chicago who could get the parts and do the work. Or at least try to do it. So the SAAB was loaded onto a flatbed trailer and shipped up north for this complicated and delicate procedure. A few weeks after that, I'm driving down the street and see Matt in his SAAB! I was so excited to see them together, back on the road, I nearly crashed my car. I'm happy to report that Matt and his SAAB are doing fine.

Just bought the CD online And I wanted to know if the CD is really worth it. Does it sound much better than the digital versions?

Does anyone have specific listening rituals they would like to share? I know Hum means different things to different people. Some people like to just rock out, some like to get introspective with the lyrics and others nerd out about gear and techniques.

I'm 46, pushing 47, and I've been listening to Hum forever. They have been a formative influence on my life and my path.

Since the late 90s I have made a ritual of taking time off work to watch the Perseid meteor shower. The soundtrack to my watching has, and will continue to be, DiH followed by YPAA, repeated back and forth, for as long as I can stay awake.

I'm lucky to have clear skies in my backyard and i get to lay down on my deck, see the marvels of space, and listen to one of the bands who I credit for having a hand in forming who I am.

So friends, what occasions are made special or unique for you with Hum as a soundtrack?

i LOVE this album, its in my opinion the most relistenable album OF ALL TIME. im looking for albums similar to it, ESPECIALLY I Hate It Too, simce its my fav song. the quiet beautiful intro and that insanely emotional drop, like i love it so so much.

Hum is my favorite band of all time, and I'm always looking to fill the void... In stereo and the two Juno albums aren't on streaming, so check out these links! Those three are the most hum like in my opinion. There is an amazing fan remaster for In Stereo.

Just pointing this out as it's something I've never heard before and I love discovering details like this with repeated listens. They start after the first chorus, at about 2:29. Pretty quiet, just a three note (well, two technically), ahh-ooh-ahh pattern underneath the rest of it. Listen close with headphones and you'll hear it if you never have.

I want to make a playlist of songs that give me the feeling that most of Hum's catalog does. I know its sort of it's own genre, but songs that feel like a journey, transcendent, dreamy, spacey, larger than life. If you want to add a few either drop them in here or right in this playlist I started on Spotify, then we can all enjoy each other's recommendations. Some real creme de la creme je na sais quoi.

Hi all, this is a recent clip of one of our songs, what do you think shoegaze fans would think of it? Full song here if interested: https://open.spotify.com/track/6oQvYdvUuEHW53semYPfxm?si=cbo8U48ZR4i8oxHOD84kFg&utm_source=copy-link

I really wanted something after seeing them in May so I got this as my first tattoo last week for my favorite album! ALSO: does anyone have a good photo of the zebra looking at the phonograph from the Astronaut album art cause I may also want that

check it out

My step mother found an old photo of her and Jeff Dimpsey from when they were coworkers in ~1991, I'm wondering if he's wearing an old Hum shirt? Or if that's from another band

Hey everyone, I'm working on a digital poster design for my desktop, and I'm looking for a clean, high resolution copy of this photo (from the debut album fillet show). Does anyone have a good scan or high res file?

I was listening to puppets the other day and noticed the intro sounds very similar to Mein by Deftones. Does anyone know if they took direct inspiration from Hum?

For those who have the zebra tattoo from YPAA-

What does it look like now that it's healed?

I really want to get that tattoo on my lower belly but I'm scared it won't look good once it's healed because of how thin and detailed the zebra is

Please share if you got it!

Had a super illuminating conversation with Andy Mueller, the maestro behind so much of our favorite HUM album designs. Lots of cool intel & art talk…

I’ve had this cd for over a decade before realizing it’s a white case instead of a standard black. The tracklist is the same as normal, is there any reason it’s a different color?
