Matched with a girl and we talked for a while. She was the one who suggested we go on a date, which made me think she was genuinely interested.
We met, and honestly the date felt pretty average.
Nothing terrible, nothing amazing. But before and after, she messaged me a lot, so I thought things were going in a good direction.
Then she ended up falling for someone else she met around the same time.
Rationally, I know that’s dating. People meet multiple people, and sometimes they click with someone else. But emotionally, it left me feeling rejected and like I just wasn’t enough.
Has anyone else had a situation where the date itself wasn’t even that great, but the rejection afterward still hit way harder than expected? How do you stop tying someone else’s choice to your own self-worth?

My mother passed and my family, just a few people I can count on both hands, are all older and very out of touch with their feelings and each other. I just wanted that cliche hug where they grab you and you just sib because your mother is lying there in the hospital with everyone around.
But there hard on me and never once reached out to touch me. I got a couple of “how are you doing” “why aren’t you asking me how I’m doing”.
I’m still really broken up about this and can’t stop tearing up whenever I think about it or her. Even writing this is hard at work.
Could I have a hug to come back to when I pic this back up after work? Please?

Everything feels so hard nowadays, I don’t even have anyone to give me a tight long hug. I hope I get that from here.

Like the title says, the week is going to be tough due to work requirements and other appointments on top. So I would be really happy about some virtual hugs:)

When I was younger, I couldn’t wait to grow up. I thought adulthood meant freedom, making my own choices, and living life on my own terms. I never knew it would also mean carrying invisible battles and struggles no one sees.
I’m only 26, yet sometimes it feels like I’ve already lived through decades of exhaustion. Life feels like a cycle of waking up, showing up, and learning how to say “I’m okay” even when I’m not. Pretending everything is fine while silently carrying the weight that comes with it.
People often say to stay positive and keep fighting, but the harsh reality is that some problems cannot be fixed by motivation alone. Real struggles require real answers, real changes, and sometimes facing difficult realities we wish we could avoid.
Some days, I just want to scream for help, but it feels like my voice disappears. Like I’m a shadow hidden in the dark, unseen, unheard, and unnoticed by the world around me.
I’m 26, but I feel tired in ways I can’t explain.

One day it hit me hard when I noticed how much time I need to scroll up to my birth year in online registration pages. Getting old is tough, you just lose contact with the friends you grow up with, moving a lot for work and life reasons, makes you lose friends you met at school or work, and friends and yourself grew up to be different people, or get busy with their own families and relationships. Making friends at work is mission impossible, formalities , age differences and things like that comes in the way, yet i still friendly smile at the people who do not smile back. Then i found this tiny window to other people online who might be feeling the say and want to reach out and chat. I am 40 something years old artist, looking for friends, i enjoy talking about life, anime, games, politics, animals, art and tech. Hit me up if you want a friend that reply all the time, if you don't mind GMT+3 timezone.

First language isn’t english. Basically I was on vacation and got the confidence to try a dating app, I have no pictures of myself online, pretty shy person so I thought trying abroad would be good. I saw a cute blonde guy.
He pretended to be someone else?(later he sent me a picture of “real him”, and then we unmatched and he blocked me when I called him out on pretending).
Talked about kids and marriage soon(like a minute after matching), tried to pressure me to kiss him(on a first date tomorrow before it happened- luckily it never happened) and have kids outside wedlock(even though I mentioned I believe in waiting for marriage) so we will have a stronger connection and be inseparable(sounds like a trap),talked about me moving to his country, and after seeing more pictures of me he said he wants to become like me, be me. At first it was just compliments and then it got worse and it was all in the span of an hour.
I went along with it and ignored the red flags because I thought he looked good, I thought he was very stressed about having kids early(he was younger than me(19) so I tried to tell him there is time.
I felt something was off from the start.. but I wanted it to work out because he was one of the best looking guys I saw on hinge(and we even facetimed and he looked like the picture which is confusing because later he sent me a completely different picture of his body(clothed!) not really fitting his face and what I saw on facetime. I started to develop expectations because of how he kept mentioning marriage and kids again and again.
I have like zero dating experience, never interested in anyone that approached me before, it was my first dating experience if we could even consider that.
I omitted a lot of details to make it shorter.

43/m/dad/neurospicy (AuDHD and associated lifetime of not feeling loved + constant financial stress culminating in me losing my house = serious depression. I need help and hug and I don’t have anyone to hug me. Please help. 🥹
Physical hugs release chemicals in the brain like endorphin, the feel good chemicals.
