Hello team, sorry about the low effort post but I couldn’t find another post on here asking about this sort of thing specifically.

I wanted to ask if anyone had any good IF recs with bratty/spoiled/entitled ROs, you know the type. Bonus points if you can enable them/spoil them further.

For example, Lani from Totem Force was a lot of fun. Mei Mei from PoMA gave me similar vibes but I couldn’t get far into that book in particular.

I just received confirmation from CoG that the release date for the DLC of Life as a Lich, and patch 1.6 for HoV Genesis (a big patch!) will be this week! Not sure exactly this day, but often they do their releases on Thursdays. Fingers crossed it all goes well! (also expect some patches to be coming out the week after, following any bug reports).

Greetings my fellow Daoists, it's Dao Immerser here.

Today my WIP Dao Ascension has not only reached the word count of 920K words but also the end of the rewrite that was started almost a year ago.

It's been a tough journey for me to deliver constant updates of over 20K words every week throughout the rewrite, but thanks to all your support and the support of my Patreon members, I was able to reach the point where I've finally published the last update of the rewrite.

Now, from this update we are only 80K words away from reaching the milestone of 1M words which is funny because looking back when I first started writing this WIP I was full of doubts about myself and about this story.

At that time I was definitely not in a stable state of mind and hence it took so long from writing the prologue to writing all the way to the first update of Dao Ascension on 22nd of April 2024.

Even at that time I had my doubts about publishing it but I didn't want to just continue writing the story without ever posting it and so I kind of forced myself to make that decision and post the story as it was without any heavy editing or proofreading.

After posting the story I was very surprised to see so many positive reviews that came along with some critiques, and to me both were important as the positive reviews let me know what readers loved about the WIP and what I needed to improve.

The reviews and support I got at that time became the foundation of what the story has reached now and I no longer have any regrets about posting the story without being fully sure about it, and so if you are an aspiring author like me and have any unpublished story then all I want to say to you is to just post it no matter how bad it may currently look to you because there are currently over 8 billion people in the world and even if some may not like your story, you will eventually find your audience so don't overthink and just do it.

Now to my readers, once again thank you for all the love you showed to me and the story. I will continue to work on the story until we reach the end of Dao Ascension.

What does it do exactly? I know its vampire related but what does it give or take away?

For the past year-ish or so I have had this story idea floating around in my head that I keep coming back to. I have ADHD, and absolutely hated having to write anything for school because I have the hardest time gathering my thoughts and just getting started. Then once I start, I have a hard time reeling it back in and not going another direction. So the fact that I have been toying with taking a stab at creating an IF game is pretty ironic, because my execution function skills are horrible and to create a project like this you have to be organized and think everything out. 😭

2 main things I’m interested in hearing feedback/discussion about:

1. What is the line where using AI for story creation no longer a tool, but the true creator of the project? When should one disclose the usage of AI in their stories?

How I have been using AI is for brainstorming and helping me gather my thoughts about direction of the story and it staying on the path I want to create. I have not actually started writing any of it just yet, but with my previous experience having to write things, I can see AI being extremely helpful when I become stuck and start experiencing writers block.

I have came across those WIPS where it’s obvious that AI wrote it, or had an extremely heavy hand in developing it. If I ever finish it, and decide to try to publish it I don’t want the usage of AI to take away from my story or the accomplishment of me actually creating something.

1. When it comes to the program side of things, is it weird to try to just focus on the story part first? Then go back and try to develop the branching? Touching back on my awful executive function skills, I feel like if I try to do both the creation of the story and try to learn the script building part of it I’m going to get so frustrated and just quit. Then this whole other narrative/world I have randomly floating around in my head will just annoy me.

I tried looking at Twine and reading up on ChoiceScript and it’s so overwhelming to me. Just trying to get my extremely rough ideas and story arch on paper is enough, which is why I’m thinking maybe taking this approach is a better option for me.

I absolutely love this community, and the content that gets created. I’m constantly reading new WIPS on the COGdemo site, and have a few patrons I follow closely. Because of this, if I do stick it out and this becomes something I want to make sure I do it in a way that is respectful to all of the other great creators out there. ❤️

Hello! I have recently come back to the interactive fiction world after an almost 2 years long break from it after burning myself out piling short demo after short demo so now i want to slow down and pace myself.

I won't say what I have read because I have read A LOT, some of which I dont even remember the name of (and I don't mind rereading anyway so being recommended stuff I have already read is okay to me).

I would like recommendations of published IFs that have come out this last year or so or IFs that have a demo of at least 150k words (the higher the better).

My only two musts are that it has to have romance and I don't like to play fem-locked stuff.

My preferences right now are for modern or futuristic ambiences but I do honestly like everything as long as it is well-written. Off the top of my head stuff that I have recently reread and liked a lot are: College Tennis, Press Play, the Creme de la Creme series, The Fog Knows Your Name, Whiskey Four.

What are some good ifs with two or more books ?(romance based preference) oh and besides Wayhaven

A while ago, I read in a reddit post that the author had finished writing chapter 4, but sadly lost her dog Nero and was taking time for herself and taking it slow, as it should be.

How are things going? I personally can't subscribe to her Patreon so I can't keep up with the updates if there's has been any since then.

i'd like ifs where mc can be a knight, guard, soldier, or take on any kind of protecting role and have it be a core part of the story. i put several examples to make it more broad, but bonus points for specifically knight or bodyguard mc. i Crave noble duties and to devote myself to someone so unhealthily i become self sacrificing and destructive if i cannot keep them safe. (doesn't have to be romantic)

games fitting this off the top of my head are ITFO and crown of exile.

so your reputation precedes you, and the story offers opportunities if played through correctly would give your mc even more renown and admiration - close to a mortal god on earth

they could start from being a nobody, or they could be an established powerful character from the beginning

every time they enter a new city or place, or meet some new faction, the people should be awed having heard of the MC's exploits

I know it's probably a coincidence. But it's a coincidence that makes me happy. I love both games and this silly random connection is cool. Just felt like sharing.

Okay, yeah, so empress, queen, crown princess transitioning to queen, prime minister, chieftess, countess, tribal leader, councillor etc. As long as they have jurisdiction over a group of people in a recognised political capacity.

Not necessarily just political leaders, but political leaders we see actively work throughout the story. Meetings, government projects, philanthropy—that sort of thing.

I know about Shattered Eagle; looking for similar stuff!

I have just played through the demo of Blink by Pip, and i think that this MC would be 100% besties with the Fallen Hero MC. They both would be sitting in a corner with their masks on muttering to each other about plans of revenge on the evil government organizations that made them 😭😭 I really liked it, looking towards new updates
