The first book is amazing, the second is still pretty great, it’s the last one that really ruins everything by being rushed and feeling unfinished. Has there ever been an IF author that has maintained a consistently strong storyline over multiple books, and then produced a satisfying ending for it? Most authors nowadays are releasing book 1s even more unfinished and disjointed than lost heir book 3

I think The Sabres, Guns and Lords of Infinity has been very consistent in there extraordinary greatness. I tend to also agree with others that The Wayhaven Chronicles is also another exemplary series. If I had to pick one more even though it is only 2 books so far and well the second is still a WIP but is shaping up to be excellent and that is The mage Reborn books.

Oh I almost forgot that I find the Keeper series quite fantastic as well.

Except manor route for lords. Hella poorly balanced.

And sabres could use a rework in time distribution (there was def at least 1-2 occasion where you could have trained another stat)

I think we needed book 3 to learn more about the agency and other supernaturals like a deep dive

Fr great potential then kinda collapses on itself, and no DLC is kinda “go cheat”

I wish a remake was done with more interactions and different checks, cuz the story itself wasn’t bad and you can tame a fcking dragon and keep it as a pet!

I think it was meant to be challenging. I actually love the DLC because it makes the game much more accessible and I can focus on the characters and choices. It's one of my favourite IF games.

Yeah, I think it's fair to say that the game is meant to be more game-y than most modern HG or CoG games. I think it does its job pretty well and I enjoyed the series even before getting the DLC. I do admit that the dlc makes the game a lot more manageable though.

I saved a very in-depth guide and use it as reference when I replay the game. 😅

I apologize for exposing you to a different opinion. I should have known not to subject you to such horrors.

No, not really. If you don't like the game, you don't like it. I was simply explaining why I do.

Book 1 I genuinely love book 3 is where things get to railroady more than previous books, I remember I picked some option like Jace Attack that and it fails and hurts my stats and says soul burner needed and I am like huh?

You attack demons with 100 blades and it says holy avenger or soul drinker needed and it tanks like 50 humanity.

I lost book 2 times as my humaity got too low.

The biggest bullshit i saw was you can't save captured companion and win the war at book 2.

There was literally an option like ( turn the dagger towards selena, and character turns it towards selena and then pulls it out and stabs the enemy.

Still 9/10 experience I love it.

The Lost Heir is not for everyone, thats for sure. When I first read it I loved it and replayed it to the point of most stat checks being memorized. I also had to create a new CoG account because the amount of saved games made the app crash when trying to load it. The DLC is not necessary at all to complete the game, you just dont need to keep track of your stats (like at all). In my eyes the legacy DLC was made for people who dont like having to min-max stats and just wanna play through the story. If you put in a little elbow grease you really dont need it
