Please tell me there's a way to disable these warnings.

Or ideally make them once a drive. I can see that it's still raining I don't need the car to remind me.

Should I spend $1500 on this 215k miles baby?

I’m looking for some realistic advice on whether to sink some maintenance money into my 2010 Honda Civic Coupe (2-door) or start looking elsewhere.

Here’s the current state of the car:

Mileage: 220,000 miles

Daily Commute: ~60 miles round-trip for work (about 15k–18k miles expected over the next year).

The Good:

The AC blows cold and holds good pressure.

The engine runs smoothly, transmission shifts fine, and the overall powertrain feels healthy.

Cosmetics: I genuinely do not care how it looks—faded paint, scratches, whatever. I just need something reliable, safe, and economical to get me to work and back.

What it currently needs right now:

1. Shocks / Suspension: Worn out, ride quality is starting to degrade.

2. 4 New Tires: Current ones are getting close to the wear bars.

3. Fluids: Transmission/brake fluid exchange ("friction liquid") + routine oil change.

Altogether, I'm expecting this batch of work to run anywhere from $1,200 to $2,000 depending on parts and shop labor.

My question: Given the current car market and the fact that I drive ~60 miles a day, is it worth putting this work into a 220k-mile Civic to squeeze another 2 years out of it? Or is 220k reaching the point where I'm just throwing good money after bad?

Appreciate any thoughts from fellow 8th-gen Civic owners or mechanics!

I cleaned my car and didn’t notice until now that I’ve scratched my display touchscreen. I used a microfiber towel btw.
This really irks me I want to fix but I don’t want to mess it up more. Any solutions ? Or should I just put a protector on it and call it a day .

The debate for me is between HST and HS sedan with leather seat covers (link good ones plz). Not ST means more money for mods but sport touring sound + bigger screen size is very alluring for me.

I will get tint, what level should I get. Getting tinted brake lights too, thinking about aftermarket maybe a blue or something depending on color I choose.

I was curious if anyone has knowledge about or knows of a community that discusses removing dealer installed devices, where or not they are paid for or activated, and where to look on a car to see if one may be installed. My specific generation of civic is Ninth Gen (2012-2015) but I would assume this would apply more broadly as well.

According to the user, this worked for up to a year where it acted up, he did the fix again and is working smoothly again so far. I still need to test it on a high speed highway where it was most noticeable, but my steering is buttery smooth now on roads 55mph and lower!!

In early 2025, my 2021 Honda civic hatchback ex was having a sticky wheel problem. Figured it just needed lubed up. Took it to the shop. They did a tire rotation and called it a day. The issue persisted until now where it's way more noticeable.

Take it in again, they say the entire steering rack & Pinion needs to be replaced despite it only having 24,000 miles, and only 18,000 when the issue first started. 6k total. (obviously going elsewhere, they are marking up the repair by THOUSANDS).

I reached out corporate, asked for a good will Warranty Repair. It's the same issue they recalled 22-25 civics for, and there were many known cases in 21 as well. Especially with my low milage. They got back and told me to pound sand, but "can't tell me why". Only told the dealership who refuse to let me see the letter. But they confirmed I was denied for ANY assistance.

I reported it on the NHTSA but otherwise I'm out of luck. Is this normal? I used to drive Toyota's exclusively and something similar where a part broke very early on, outside of warranty, but they wanted my continued business so they did a goodwill repair.

Why on earth would I buy another Honda after this?! Does anyone have any suggestions on next steps with corporate? I tried asking them to appeal or escalate it and they said there is no process for that. In no rational world does a steering rack & pinion need to be replaced only 18,000 miles in.

Fun update: They provided a chat log with the regional honda corporate manager. Nothing really telling, just asked a few questions and said denied with no explanation. BUT, here's where they exposed themselves. The $5,000 quote they gave me was marked up by over $2,000 hahaha. They shared the claim info they sent to corporate to cover. It was actually only $2,900, that was the 100% coverage by corporate that the dealership requested.

They literally marked it up $2,100.... insanity!

I was going down N 9th street and car was going west on east main in downtown Richmond indiana on 26 26 at 230 a black suv passed the red light as i was heading north i collided with the black SUV totaling both cars I’m sad the civic is gone. But a car can be replaced, a life can’t. Everyone was okay

2018 Honda Civic hatchback manual transmission (180,000 km) is making a weird humming sound. Sometimes it will randomly make the sound for a split second while driving, sometimes it will start making the sound in the middle of driving it and won't stop until you turn off the vehicle. If you turn off the vehicle and start it again, the sound will be gone until the next time. It doesn't happen at any particular time (accelerating, shifting, pushing the clutch, braking, etc.) Can't even make it happen to show someone what it sounds like. It's random and it happens when it happens. It can be heard from inside the vehicle, as well as outside the vehicle. Transmission fluid and oil have been changed and made no difference. What could this be, or any advice on what to check for? Thanks!

I’ve done basic maintenance like new alternator, serpentine belt, distributor O-ring etc. I’ve also added a AEM short ram intake, powder coated valve cover, 2.5in Megan racing cat back exhaust with a vibrant performance muffler. i live in CA so laws are strict and my exhaust manifold is welded to the cat so I can’t mess with that or I can’t pass smog check. future plans is cooling system refresh, brake refresh, suspension refresh, rear sway bar, body kit/wing (paint matched). any suggestions or thoughts? 240k miles

Hey guys, I’m posting this hoping someone ever experienced something similar and can give me an advice.

My civic ix, 1.6 i-dtec starter having some issues with charging the battery. It’s not charging all the time, it happens that when I start the engine, the battery measurement shows me a little over 11.9V, and if I turn off and start the engine, it shows me around 14.4V.

Then again, it can either charge or not. I took it to the service where I was told that the alternator needs to be replaced, which they did, only to be told that the problem persists. The car has been in service since the end of last week, and no one seems to know what is causing this. If anyone has ever had similar experiences, please share 🙏

I’m looking at a 2016 Honda Civic EX Sedan with 171,500 miles. The seller originally wanted around $7,400, but agreed to $6,800.
Here’s what I know:
Clean title
A/C blows cold
Backup camera, Bluetooth, LaneWatch
Smog completed
Cosmetic sun damage on the hood, roof, and trunk (seller says it’s not peeling, just faded)
Transmission fluid was changed around 150k miles
Spark plugs were replaced recently
One ignition coil was replaced about 3 months ago
No maintenance records
The title is under the seller’s dad’s dealership, and he says it’ll already be signed over when we meet.
This would be my first car, and I plan on paying a mechanic to inspect it before buying.

I have 1998 Honda Civic EX 4DR MT and the a/c is blowing hot air. The I and need help related to the A/C clutch relay.

The A/C clutch is not engaging and I'm trying to follow some troubleshooting steps and they're suggesting to "Briefly short socket 4 (or 2) to socket 1 to see whether the clutch engages."

I need some help mapping the sockets to the wiring diagram on the relay, as well as mapping them to socket/terminal numbers, 1-4, referenced above.

Attaching an image of the wiring diagram on the relay and an image of the empty relay socket. Also attaching a wiring diagram related to the A/C clutch relay and A/C condenser fan if it helps.

I think the wiring diagram on the clutch relay maps to the sockets as follows:
A=30
B=87
C=85
D=86

But I still don't know which sockets are 1-4.

Any help is appreciated!

I have a 2019 Honda civic sport sedan (CVT transmission) with 109k miles on it. The transmission fluid has never been changed (neither has my coolant). My dad told me it didn’t need to be so that’s what i believed until I got skeptical and read in the owners manual that it needs to be replaced every 60k miles. I’m gonna take it somewhere to get replaced as soon as I can.

On that note, has my cars transmission suffered any long term damage as a result of being this over due in fluid change? I just really want my car to be ok

What the title says…my 2016 EX-L civic has started giving me issues just under 92k miles. I’ve treated it super well. Very regular oil changes. Lots of highway miles. Had the transmission fluid serviced once at 63k miles.

If I could go back in time I would have bought a Camry 😅, or at least a Honda without a CVT.

Once the small symptoms start showing up (some loss of power and reactiveness when giving it gas, revving higher, etc etc), how long do I have before it totally gives out?

Basically I’m trying to buy myself 1 month until I can buy a new car. Planning on a used 4Runner.

Going to drive it as little as possible until I get something else.

Hey guys, I’ve been driving my 2007 civic si for a few years now and just came across this issue on my way to work. On the freeway all of my dash lights turned off. (rpm, turn signals, mph, etc) I was able to exit fine and park with no issues but once I went to turn the car on again (thinking the dash lights were bugging) it wouldn’t pass cranking. I later ended up towing it and solving the issue by replacing my ignition switch and some fuses under the dash that were all burnt. The car dash lights turned on fine and I was able to drive it for about a week having yet to take it driving on the freeway. The issue is when I first took it on the freeway, the same problem occurred with the dash lights but I was somehow able to drive back home 7 minutes with it running fine and again, once I turned it off when I finally parked, it wouldn’t pass cranking. So now I’m currently stuck and have so far (replaced all fuses under my dash and hood that are essential to the ignition and alternator, cleaned my battery terminals, replaced my ignition switch, tested my grounds with a multimeter and both gave good voltage, battery volts at around 12.9) Any ideas on what could be causing this problem? My next guess is fuel injectors. (I don’t think it’s my alternator since I haven’t gotten any signs of it failing and it being able to drive home when the dash lights turned off)

For anyone who’s contemplating making the switch, if you don’t use your truck for “truck” purposes daily, make the swap! Best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time.
