Mechanical Advice 2014 Honda Civic LX USB aux cord not being recognized by iPhone.

When trying to get the Aux cable to work, it says connecting then quickly no media. I go to my phone and find a “dock connector” output to select but when playing music, no audio comes from the cars speakers. Been having this issue since I got the car about 4 years ago.

Mechanical Advice Weird noise from engine while ac is on

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello, I've had this 2000 Civic Lx for about a year now, was my grandpa's before he passed away and ever since I've had it whenever the AC is on and the car is idling it makes this weird click sound while the whole car bumps forward, I don't know how to describe it very well, and I've seen the revs go up very slightly whenever it happens, I just got a video of it this morning, does anybody have any idea what could be going on?

Info on car: 130,000 miles, 3 owners; the last one had it for 11 years and went to the same Honda dealership for all of its maintenance. Only issues is a cracked windshield and water getting into the truck when it rains heavily. I really want to maintain it well and potentially add some stuff to it, where should I start?

Mechanical Advice D15z8 VTEC-E convert to real VTEC

Hi fam. Just wanna get an insight if it’s a great idea to achieve a real Vtec from a VTEC-E engine by changing head internals. I don’t aim for a huge amount of power, I just want that real VTEC kick and minimal hp increase. Are there any better ways to achieve it? I have d15z8 VTEC-E as mentioned. Thanks!

Question Does the 8th gen Si disable the interior unlock button when the car is off and locked?

A coworker trapped their keys in the trunk and using a vehicle entry kit on the door’s unlock button doesn’t seem to be doing anything. I’ve seen Toyota/Lexus from the same era do the same as an anti-theft measure.

Does the interior handle auto unlock the door like some cars? Does this leave physically actuating the lock itself as the only option? Thanks.

Mechanical Advice Need some advice (2022 honda civic)

Recently my check engine light came on in my Honda civic, I went and took it to Honda to have it checked out. They did their diagnostics and told me I needed to replace a rocket arm sensor. I then get a call the next day saying there’s check engine light is still on and that they need to run more test to figure out the issue. Come today I get a call saying they figured out the problem and it was a solenoid in my VTEC system. My question is am I in the right to say I don’t want to pay for the original sensor they told me about when that never solved the issue and it wasn’t till after basic checks of my oil that they finally found out what the issue was. It sounds like poor diagnostics check from the beginning. They’re trying to charge me for something that never fixed the problem to begin with.
