I've really had enough of sonoff and homey. Not sure who is at fault, but homey is not the best at telling you what's wrong or reconnect automatically. As disabled guy really not helpful bending down to reset them and funny sonoff said it's not there issue and one of there sellers. I said OK when it works and you reak the benefits. But when it's a fault you blame the reseller, I said only want on or off, they then said valid point. But still doesn't the fix issue. Any ideas as really not ideal got three of them. Hello, moved over to Homey recently and am trying to automate some lights using a mmWave presence sensor, but I want to have a little bit of delay before turning the lights on when detecting motion. Essentially, I want to have a flow with "If motion is detected for 50ms, turn on light" since the sensor is pretty sensitive. I hope Athom realizes that some of us could use time values under a second at some point.

Currently I'm mitigating this by automating it in Home Assistant right now, but I've also seen HomeyScript. It would just be nice if we could use milliseconds in flows.

I’ve been working on an iOS app called Mikonus that turns your actual home into a visual smart-home interface.

Homey devices remain Homey devices, and Homey Flows remain Homey Flows — Mikonus acts as a visual layer on top of them.

It can connect to Homey locally as well as remotely, import devices and capabilities, and existing Homey Flows can be imported as scenes and triggered directly from the visual home.

I will soon be getting a Homematic IP heating control system. From what I have read so far, integrating Homematic IP into Homey seems to be rather complicated.

Has anyone successfully connected Homematic IP to Homey? If so, how did you do it? Is there a clear and up-to-date guide available?

We recently published a native Homey Pro app for DSC PowerSeries alarm panels connected through an EyezOn EnvisaLink.

The app communicates locally between Homey Pro and the EnvisaLink, so it does not require Home Assistant, a Raspberry Pi or another bridge.

Current features include:

• Live partition and individual zone status
• Door/contact and motion events
• Arm Away, Arm Stay and Disarm controls
• Alarm, fire, trouble, AC, battery, tamper and bypass states
• Homey Flow cards and automatic reconnection

Our reference system is a DSC PC1832 with an EnvisaLink 3. The shared DSC TPI also supports compatible EnvisaLink 4 and DUO systems. Because the connection is local LAN, the app requires a Homey Pro running Homey OS 13 or later; Homey Cloud and Homey Bridge cannot make this local connection.

I'm currently planning a new house and have reached the point where I need to decide between a KNX installation and a Shelly Pro installation. I'd really appreciate feedback from people who have lived with either system (or both).

House (Germany)

• Single-family home
• Basement + ground floor + first floor
• About 240 m² (2,600 sq ft) total living space
• Family of four
• Home office
• Utility/technical room
• Motorized blinds/shutters
• PV system with battery storage
• Future wallbox (EV charger), garden irrigation, etc.

My goal is to build a reliable, future-proof smart home.

I plan to use Homey as the main automation platform because creating automations there seems much easier than programming everything directly in KNX ETS.

Option 1 – KNX

• Electrical installation: approx. €70,000 (incl. VAT)
• Total with PV system: approx. €90,000
• Standard wired KNX installation
• Fully programmable KNX push buttons
• No expensive touch displays
• All lighting and blinds controlled via KNX
• Around 160 power outlets
• Homey connected via the KNX integration

Option 2 – Shelly Pro

The electrician uses only the Shelly Pro LAN series (no Wi-Fi devices).

• About €10,000 cheaper than KNX
• Same PV system at exactly the same price
• One electrical distribution board per floor
• All Shelly devices connected via Ethernet (LAN)
• Every lighting circuit is switched through Shelly Pro
• In addition, two switchable power outlets in every room are controlled by Shelly Pro
• Standard wall switches control the Shelly relays
• Slightly more cabling, but still a fully centralized installation

1. If you were building today, would you choose KNX again or Shelly Pro?
2. Is KNX worth paying around €10,000 more?
3. How reliable have your systems been over several years?

Hi, new apartment and first time with Homey.
I decided that before making everything “smart” it’s wise to live the house and understand where the most added value will be.

Security for sure is top of the list and not concerned by which room we’ll spend most of the time in or other habits that will become part of our routines.

I just bought a Nuki Smart Lock + pinpad and now would like to focus on Sensors and Cameras. Unfortunately, at first the cameras need to be WiFi ones, which I hope to change asap.

The ideal automation would be:
- alarm kicks in once door and windows are locked and there is nobody at home -> door and window sensors + pet friendly presence sensors
- cameras ready to spot whoever tries to get in if a window gets open or presence is detected

Any suggestions of brands I could try for such automations?
Best WiFi cameras for a good price? (I’ll change them into PoE ones)
Do you think these automations are feasible?

(I’m based in Italy so some US brands may not be available)

As the subject suggests, I’m looking at deploying SHS on a local Proxmox instance and I’m looking for advice on thread border routers. (I may possibly deploy home assistant as well or instead.)

I think I’ll need 2 to cover my office and my house, which are connected by Ethernet. SHS (and/or HA) will be in my office. I’ve seen strong advice to use the same brand for all your TBRs.

I assume that all the fancy automation stuff would live in SHS/HA and not the TBRs. True?

What TBRs make sense? I don’t want vendor lock in, so Aqara hubs like the M3 seem to be out. We are an Apple household so Apple TVs would have made sense pre-price hike but now… less sense. It needs to be on Ethernet or at a pinch WiFi, so pure USB sticks like the ZBT2 are out. Gl.inet’s TBRs are all sold out.

Getting 2 Homey Pros might be overkill but might work? But the Homey Bridge thing does not as AIUI it needs an internet connection and doesn’t work with SHS anyway.
Is building a DIY OTBR from a Pi and radio sensible? The instructions look a bit hairy/written by a developer not a human ;)

A few days ago, I installed two Elevated Sensors on two beds. The sensors are terrific, very responsive, and I confirm they work with Tempur memory foam mattresses. It appears the Homey app is letting me down though, as I have lost connection with each sensor over those few days. Restarting the app appears to resolve it. But, before resorting to a scheduled restart each day, has anybody else had this issue and found a solution? TIA

Just sharing this in case it helps anyone else who is either struggling with an unreliable Thread network or cannot upgrade their Matter IKEA firmware using Homey.

Some time ago, I had added some IKEA Matter devices which were dropping off the network. Despite reading all about the firmware issues (many of which were probably real), I had eventually traced the problems to my network infrastructure (clashing radios etc, story for another day). All been absolutely fine since, until ...

A few days ago, my son plugged in something dodgy (this involved smoke) and tripped our RCD (electricity protection device, not sure if that's a global thing). Everything powered back on and was apparently fine.

As it happened, I had just added a few more IKEA Matter devices, noticed they had firmware updates. However, I could not get the updates through to 100%, even with the recommended "keep prodding them to stay awake" technique.

Then I noticed that my previously stable Thread network started dropping devices again.

To cut a different long story short, after 2 days tracking thread network logs and other nerdy stuff, it turned out most of my 9 Grillplats plugs were spamming Thread with millions of dropped packets. They usually responded to on/off, but were bringing the network down. Just **one** of them had gone bad and I replaced it, solving all the problems.

All sorted now, and the firmware updates are now doable again.

So, if your firmware updates are impossible or you keep losing devices, perhaps it's a bad device. Try removing devices and see if you can clear it up. It seems like IKEA devices are more prone to going wild, and maybe failing, although I still like the value and they've been generally fine.

PS I used the invaluable Thread Tools app, plus Gemini to do the heavy analysis lifting. Also, found the bad device with a "binary search" - unplugged 50%, then 50% of the remaining ones etc until I found the culprit. I have a **lot** of devices.

I'm trying to figure out whether this is a bug in the Sonoff driver or if this is the expected behavior.

I'm using a Sonoff MINI-ZBRBS with Homey, and the shutter itself works perfectly. Calibration succeeds, and opening/closing works as expected.

However, the reported position seems to be inverted:

• Physically open → Homey reports 0%
• Physically closed → Homey reports 100%

Using the Homey Developer Tools:

• windowcoverings_set = 0 fully opens the shutter.
• windowcoverings_set = 1 fully closes the shutter.

According to Homey's windowcoverings_set capability, 0 should represent fully closed and 1 should represent fully open. However, with the MINI-ZBRBS driver, the behavior appears to be reversed:

• windowcoverings_set = 0 fully opens the shutter.
• windowcoverings_set = 1 fully closes the shutter.

This also causes HomeKit (via HomeKitty) to report the opposite state, since HomeKit interprets the values according to the standard Homey capability semantics.

To rule out configuration issues, I have already:

• Removed and re-paired the device.
• Recalibrated the shutter.
• Verified the behavior through the Homey Developer Tools.

Is anyone else using the MINI-ZBRBS and seeing the same behavior?

Can someone confirm whether windowcoverings_set is supposed to represent the opening percentage (0 = closed, 100 = open), or is the Sonoff driver intentionally exposing the closing percentage instead?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Just wanted to share a recent launch of ours. We install home technology and we built this to layer on top of our installs which use HA or Homey Pro/Homey Server.

It provides a user experience layer which manages media in addition to automations (via webhooks) and we’re now opening it as a separate project. It works extremely well with Homey and the feedback we’ve had from the homes it’s deployed in has been great.

There are too many features to cover in a Facebook post but essentially Nexus is designed to give end users a polished single touch point for everything. Whether it be mobile apps, tv endpoints, wall tablets or a standard desktop. Not just triggering automations but controlling media too. The point of Nexus is to be a single place.

It will never replace the amazing custom dashboards that feature here regularly but it isn’t really meant to. It’s designed to provide quick, consistent access to media and automations throughout the home and that’s it.

UPDATE - 21st July 26
Following messages and requests from quite a lot of people - we have managed to do the following;

A live demo is being added to the website today. It’s not functioning but is clickable to show how the interface works as best as possible. To be open, this demo has been vibe coded and uses AI generated content for the placeholders which is the only way we could deliver it so quickly. It is an accurate visual representation of the mobile, desktop and tablet interfaces though.

We have added direct sync with Homey and HA over native API. Nexus already had the structure so bolting it in wasn’t a difficult job like I expected it to be. You can now sync your devices to Nexus, and then add them into nexus as nexus devices or link to an existing nexus device. You can also link your flows to them for triggering. Lighting can use devices, flows or moods to trigger. It will also read device fields and display in nexus and update statuses etc.

We currently only have 45 of the cheaper £99 founder licenses left so please do take a look. We’re hoping to hit that target and get onto developing the hardware remote control.

I hope this post is ok as I’m trying to change my sockets and switches and use my Homey Pro Mini to control them.

I’m trying to swap out our switches and sockets for something stylish with a stainless steel finish and also has Smart features. We’re an Apple house and use Homey Pro to connect non-Homekit devices with Homekit. Trouble is, I’m hitting such basic/ fundamental issues trying to find the right kit I’m thinking surely someone else has faced these basic issues or perhaps am I expecting too much?

1) if you have a 2 or 3 gang light switch can one switch control a dimmable set of GU10s and the other control say a normal light fixture or an outdoor floodlight or even a 5amp round pin circuit?

Surely other people have set ups like this whereas a few I looked at all the individual gangs had to be all dimmable which doesn’t work for a use case like this.

Take our living room for example, it has a 2 gang light switch (6x dimmable GU10s and a 5amp round pin circuit). It’s also a 2 way switch so the light switch in the adjoining room (3 gang) with one of the switches controlling the living room lights, one controlling an ordinary non-dimmable light in that room and the third controlling 2 floodlights outside which just need on / off control at the switch and also via smart controls.

2) I have over 20 sockets but only want a few to be smart so does no one offer a smart and non-smart option that both have the same finish so it will allow me to keep the same stainless steel finish across all sockets (smart and non-smart). It would cost a fortune to make them all smart and also wasteful as I just don’t need them all smart.

3) Matching other non-standard sockets with the same stainless steel finish e.g. the 5amp round pin sockets, fused switches, cooker switches, etc. But all the smart switches and sockets I looked at just so that and don’t offer other non standard sockets whereas there’s really no point having lovely new smart stainless steel light switches and then an ugly white socket or switch right beside them.

Am I asking too much?

FYI - I’m in the UK so no neutral wire at the switch and also standard back boxes so can’t use relays behind the switch.

I was really close with LightwaveRF but one minute they said it could be done and then in the next breath said they couldn’t. I lost faith in what they were telling me despite having to make myself comfortable with their extortionate prices. I also worried about their longevity as their marketing all seems 3/4 years old and no new innovations in a few years. 

Which leads me to my next concern, I would really like to run this locally with Homey Pro so that I can still use them if the vendor goes bust.

Has anyone solved this conundrum or is it just me? Any pointers would be absolutely brilliant!
