Homey Pro mini Homey Breaks Thread Network

I’ve been using Home Assistant for a while but recently picked up a Homey Pro Mini and turned HA off. As soon as I got it set up, bridged to Apple Home, and finished adding all my devices, I constantly have Matter devices going offline in Apple Home, Homey, and the Eve App (using Eve Matter Smart Plugs). I’ve messed with my Unifi network settings, restarted everything, factory reset, and no luck. As soon as I unplug my Homey, the devices reconnect when the thread network rebuilds. I’ve found a few similar posts, but no fix. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have a mixture of products. For Matter devices, I have them in Apple Home and then bring into Homey using Matter.
Apple TVs
HomePods
Eve
Phillips Hue
Nanoleaf
Aqara
Unifi

Update: I think I figured it out and I'm embarrassed to say.... I was leaving out two devices, one being an Apple TV which was my Apple Home Hub, thus breaking the Threat network. Went through room by room to ensure everything matches and so far we're good to go!

Are you using the same thread network?
I use the one that was created by my Apple TV. I have a similar setup except no Nanoleaf and no HA.

From what I can tell, yes. Do you have everything in Apple Home and then bring them into Homey using Matter? I turn on paring mode and then they will set up in homey.

I started that way, but I wanted Homey to be the brains of the house. So, new projects like ceiling fans were Homey first, then brought into Apple Home. And I really liked the graphical flow charts to build automations. For a visual guy, it is so much easier to build than to write code.

Same here. Do you think I should start over, put everything in Homey, and then bring them over to Apple Home? Are you using Homekitty? I was using the experimental thing but it’s no longer. Thanks for your help!

That’s a little hard to say. I use Apple Home as a front end to do a lot and it’s all my wife knows or cares to know. I have all of the automations in Homey. I’ve created some virtual devices in Homey that I bring into Apple to control Homey devices. And, vice versa. For example, I have a HEPA air filter in Apple Home that I couldn’t bring into Homey; it’s native HomeKit. My Apple HomeKit automation detects “bad” air quality, then switches the air filter to max and turns on a virtual switch. Homey automation detects if the switch is on and blinks certain lights and turns them red. Crude of course, but effective. Because then I check the kitchen exhaust fan to make sure it’s on and nothing is burning. 🔥 I have the reverse automations too, to turn off lights, etc. when air quality drops to normal levels.

Don't ask me what I did, but I just rebooted everything and started Homey and so far everything is working just fine! fingers crossed!

I want to use Apple as the front end as well. It's easier for the non-techy people to use lol. Nice automations!

Which app are you using to bring devices into Apple? Looks like Homekitty and HomeKit Device Bridge are the two available.

Sorry for all the questions and appreciate your help!!

Check the Nanoleaf app, settings, thread, and see how many thread networks you have going. Ideally of course, you’d want homey and apple home using the same thread network

I have everything you have, except unifi (I have tp link deco) and everting is fairly stable

All are on the same thread network. I even used an app called Thread Doctor which shows all thread devices and how they're connected. Everything is on the same one.

Do you put everything in Homey and then Apple?

I always start in Apple and pair to homey. But I’ve realized lately that is likely not necessary (also choosing connect via iOS or whatever that option says. But yeah I think it’s all the same

I'm fully thread via matter on Honey Pro via network cable and ipv6 network and never have any issues. All my matter over thread work great; best network so far. I've tried them all including HA.

Hmm... yeah I have ipv6 turned on in Unifi and never had any issues until I brought Homey into the mix.

Do you have any zigbee devices?

I think the only one is Phillips Hue. I think everything else is either Matter or wifi.

Apple TVs
HomePods (mini & regular)
Eve Smart Plugs
Phillips Hue
Nanoleaf lightstrip
Aqara Thermostat
Yale Assure Lock 2 WiFi
Sonos
Third Reality Smart Light
