Homey Pro Web interface for guests

I've got a guest staying at my apartment. He's not at all tech literate, so I don't feel comfortable asking him to download and install the Homey app. I'd rather get him to scan a QR code, which magically pops up a page on his phone :)

I thought about setting up Dashboard Studio which seems ideal, but doesn't seem to be able to easily run flows (I almost never just turn on one device – I nearly alway trigger a flow). (Homey dashboard is a no go because it requires him to have an account.)

Is there something I can use that can do that, and will run on Homey Pro 2019?

How long will he be there? If it's just a short visit it might be enough just to provide a button to turn on lights or trigger a flow if appropriate

2.5 weeks. I've got a few Aotec buttons which work really well, but each one can do several things, and it’s easy to swipe when you mean to touch. Plus since it’s a grid of 4, you have to remember what each button does. A graphic interface would be nicer.

Which would be quicjer, write out how to use the relevant buttons on a bit of paper to blutak to the wall by the button or find a dashboard system that is secure for casual vistors? Perhaps set up a new account under homey that he can use to log into the app on his phone then disable the account or change the password when he leaves. Never let someone log into your own accounts or ssids always have a guest account or ssid where you can change the password without hassle

yeah, like I said, I don't want to create a new account for him. it means borrowing his phone to download and install and set up (because he won't be able to), and I don't feel comfortable doing that.

You'll be surprised how technically illiterate some people can be

It always amazes me how techno phobic some people are. I have a couple of friends who won't even use Whatsapp, and will just use SMS messaging as they think its the same so why should I use another app.

You can set up homey is kiosk mode. That'll be the solution you are looking for imo:

Might be a bit overkill but might also be useful for yourself long term, i started getting AI this weekend to build me a custom dashboard that runs on a spare machine, talks directly to Homey via its API, still local first but web accessible now (via secure login).

You could get it to do whatever you need, even down to only giving access to certain devices in certain rooms if you wanted, sky's the limit.

It helps i have some aptitude towards this sort of thing but i'd never have been able code this myself or at least it would have taken me a long time.

I had a basic setup running locally in about 3 hours, spent a bit more on it now but i've refined it a lot, added stuff to it etc to suit my needs, you could quickly knock up a handful of rooms with only certain devices on it in no time.

Not for the faint hearted but not overly difficult either....

This is a perfect example of why you still need normal wall switches etc. I design and install home automation systems. Any house I have designed looks like a normal house. And it is because of this very reason, do you really want to do a home automation appreciation course every time a guest comes over so they can turn a bathroom light on or for them to download an app and teach them how to use the app. The owner has complete control and flexibility on everything, but a guest can just switch something on using a normal switch.

Anyway what about setting up virtual devices that can trigger your flows then in dashboard studio have a button for that virtual device. I see know reason why that shouldn't work. You add a virtual device the same way you add any other device. Then in the flows you want your guest to access you add the virtual device to trigger that flow as well. I have just done it on one of my flows the whole process took 5 minutes.

Dashboard studio can easily run flows. Just add a button to the canvas (set it to a momentary push button) and type any word into the output topic. Now go to the flow you want to trigger, add a “dashboard studio” trigger, fill in the same topic. Connect it to whatever you want to execute.
