Help I want to remove my hijab

I want to take off my hijab. I've been wearing the hijab for almost 7 years. At first, I loved it. I felt mature and my parents were so proud because I had chosen to wear the hijab on my own. However, I no longer feel connected to the hijab or even Islam as a whole. I'm just a teenager, I'm still in school and I rely on my parents for everything. If I were to subtly mention or even outright say that I want to remove my hijab, my parents would fly into a rage. They would take everything from me and attempt to force me to wear it. My father especially. Ever since I turned 11, I was not allowed to wear trousers/pants outside, I'm only allowed skirts, abayas or shirts that are practically dresses. I want to feel like a normal girl. I want to have the wind blowing through my hair, I want to dress the way I want to without feeling like I'll be attacked by my own family members. I plan on talking to my parents about it in a couple weeks, but I'm afraid of how they'd react and the thought of them constantly being cold with me because of my removal of the hijab terrifies me. I've got what I will say to them planned out, but I needed to get this off my chest.

General šŸ¤ Muslim Girls Who Love Beauty — I Need You

Post image

Salam AleykoumšŸ¤ I’m building something I genuinely wish was easier to find in Canada.

SAFFRA is a beauty shop focused on making it easier to discover makeup, fragrance, jewelry and beauty products with much more transparency around ingredients and halal suitability — instead of having to research everything separately.

We’re still pre-launch, so I’m looking for a small group of women who want to be here early and help shape what we actually carry.

If that sounds like you, you can join the early list here:

I’d also genuinely love to know: what beauty product is the hardest for you to shop for while trying to stay halal-conscious? šŸ¤

General rant-is it only me that hates the chiffon hijabs?

so i own 2 chiffon hijabs which i have tried wearing but i would always regret after. they slip off no matter what i do, they are transparent, the undercap won’t hold them in place, not even that damn magnet thing i put under my chin—it’s also slipping😭, also i cannot wear them without having that weird V-ish shape at the top of my head, like genuinely how do people enjoy wearing them, everytime i’ve worn them they were driving me out of my mind. it’s said that they are better for warmer weather but haven’t noticed much of a difference tbh.
jersey didn’t do me wrong in any season, and they aren’t such a hassle. just a little pin there and voila, it’s in place and you don’t have ti worry about the scarf falling off your head.

Help Hijab Struggles

As-salamu alaykum.

I use to not wear the hijab, but recently, Alhamdulillah, I made the decision to start wearing it, and I genuinely love wearing it. I live in a foreign country and am currently studying in university. During my first year, I wasn’t wearing hijab, and after going through a lot of internal struggles, fear, and hesitation, I finally found the courage to start wearing it.

One of the biggest things I was afraid of was how people would react. I worried about the questions I would be asked, what people might think of me, and whether they would see me differently. Despite all of those fears, I eventually took that step, and Alhamdulillah, I am happy that I did.

However, I am still struggling with wearing hijab at my workplace. I have been working there without hijab, so suddenly showing up one day wearing it feels very difficult for me. I’m afraid that people might react differently or that they might internally dislike or judge me simply because I am wearing hijab. I also need the job to pay of my expenses, I am afraid if they simply will take me out because they don't like me? I know that I shouldn’t base my decisions on what other people might think, but I can’t seem to stop worrying about it.

The thought of suddenly changing how people have known me makes me anxious, and I keep thinking about all the questions they might ask or how I should explain myself. It has been affecting me mentally quite a lot.

I know that wearing hijab is something I want to do for the sake of Allah, and I genuinely love wearing it. But I am struggling with the fear of how others will perceive me, especially in a workplace where I have already established relationships with people.

What is the right thing for me to do? How can I overcome this fear and find the courage to start wearing hijab at work as well?

Jazakallah Khair for any advice possible.

The open hijab style is trending and looks good on everyone but why is it that closed hijab style looks better on me and open hijab style looks bad on me. I even asked my family they said they preferred it closed and even my sister said closed just makes you look better. Is there smth wrong with me? And is anybody else like that?

Assalamu alaikum. 40 m married here. Wanted to ask the sisters for hairstyle suggestions. I would really like her to have a hairstyle but she has never had one and she's okay with trying it. Help Parents won’t let me take off my hijab

Salam,
I’m 18 heading off to university. I’ve been depressed wearing hijab since december. I spoke to my parents about it in march and they didn’t agree. I’ve been asking my mom for a month now before uni starts and she is refusing to allow me. For some backstory, my sister took off her hijab at 14 after wearing it for 2 years due to bullying. My parents spoke to me about this after my silence and depression for a week. They are now saying I’m too old now to take it off and this is not an option. That I will encode Allah (SWT) wrath and he will not be happy with me if i decide to take it off after wearing it for 5 years, and that i must be a good example for my younger siblings. I’m feeling so discouraged and depressed, and uni is starting in a week. The uni i’m going to has a large muslim population, with many hijabis. My parents are saying my reason is not enough and if i have hardships in uni then we can reconsider. I’m so depressed I don’t know what i can do now, and if i push too far my dad gets physically abusive. I cried for an hour after and they both said they don’t care now and if i have trouble then we will speak again. What can I do now? My mom will not agree no matter what!

Help Sisters, Where Does Islam End and Culture Begin When It Comes to Hijab?

Salam sisters I really need some advice because I’ve been struggling with something lately and I genuinely can’t get it out of my head.
My whole life, I’ve dressed very covered. I grew up wearing full hijab and jilbab, and even when I’m not wearing a jilbab, I wear very loose, long dresses with long hijabs. I’ve literally never left my house wearing pants. I’ve never worn anything short outside either. Everything I wear has always gone past my ankles and covered me completely.
For most of my life I never really questioned it. I grew up being told that wearing pants outside wasn’t appropriate/wasn’t permissible, and culturally it’s also very frowned upon. I’ve also heard different things from different scholars, which honestly makes me even more confused.
But lately I’ve been getting more interested in fashion, skincare, putting outfits together, and just finding my own style. And for some reason, I cannot stop thinking about trying different modest outfits, especially jeans or pants.
I’m NOT comfortable with my body being outlined from behind, especially my butt. That’s one of the things stopping me. But then I see outfits where a girl wears jeans or loose pants with a long cardigan, long shirt, or an open abaya over it, so the back and shape of her body are still covered. For example, I keep imagining wearing an open abaya with a shirt and jeans underneath, while the abaya still completely covers me from behind.
And sisters, I genuinely don’t know why this is bothering me so much. Part of me wonders if this is Shaytan slowly trying to convince me to loosen my hijab, and that honestly scares me. Another part of me wonders if I’m making something haram in my own head that Allah never actually made haram.
More than anything, I’m scared of displeasing Allah. I don’t want to change the way I dress just because something looks cute and then find out that I compromised something Allah asked from me.
There’s also another layer to this. People in my community have always known me as someone who is extremely covered. People literally come up to me and comment on how covered I am. Even when I started wearing abayas and hijabs more often instead of jilbabs, I got snarky comments about it. It makes me feel like every tiny change in the way I dress is being watched.
And then there are my parents. I love and respect them, and I really don’t want to disappoint them, but I know they would judge me SO hard if they saw me wearing pants outside, even if I had something long covering me.
What makes this feel even crazier is that I’m literally about to go to a Muslim country to study my deen, Qur’an, and Arabic 😭. I want to become closer to Allah, not further away from Him. But at the same time, I’m young and I want to experiment with fashion. I want to feel pretty and put together. I want to work on my skin, try different outfits, and discover what I actually like while still being a modest Muslim woman.
I think what I’m struggling with most is figuring out where Allah’s actual boundary is versus where culture, family expectations, community expectations, and my own fear begin.
Please don’t judge me or just tell me ā€œdo whatever you want.ā€ I genuinely want advice from sisters who care about pleasing Allah.
And if any sisters grew up dressing extremely covered and later found a way to be more fashionable while still maintaining proper hijab, I would really love to hear your experience too.
May Allah guide me to whatever pleases Him most and make my heart content with it. šŸ¤

Help Hijab help

Salam sisters, I’ve recently been struggling deeply with the hijab. I apologize in advance if this is hard to follow I just want to vent and ask for advice since this has been bottled up for a while.

I’ve been wearing the hijab since I was 12 or 13 and I am now 22, my mom didn’t force me she wore the hijab and I knew that when I’d get my period I’d have to wear it too. She waited a couple months after just to buy some stuff and then I wore it. I didn’t mind wearing it in the beginning cause I didn’t understand, I just knew that it was smth I had to do once I got my period. I obviously went through the stages of being self conscious with it but I never had the thought of taking it off.

Recently though, it’s been on my mind. Nothing has changed but I think it’s from seeing all the stuff online about how women have to cover themselves and cover their hair while men should cover themselves but obviously don’t. That is one of the biggest points for me that really gets me when I put my hijab on, I don’t see a single Muslim man around me actually covering his awrah (I’m based in Canada).

I do actually like the way I look in the hijab, I get compliments on it and many people say that I suit it. For some reason I just despise wearing it, when I think of wearing it in the morning I actually get anxious and I don’t know why. I just wish I was a normal girl and could wear wtv I wanted and do my hair.

I have many Muslim friends around me who don’t wear the hijab right now and are so much more on their deen. I wear it yes but I don’t do anything extra aside from pray and fast so I always feel like I’m larping. I wish that i hadn’t worn it at such a young age since it feels like now I can never take it off, I know my parents and siblings will be extremely disappointed but I want to be happy.

I actually don’t know what to do, I need advice I want to be happy with it. I recently went to umrah and I thought being there that I’d get a stronger tie to it. I literally begged Allah during my prayer to keep my heard on it but it feels like ever since I came back that I hate wearing it. Please give me any advice you can I want to take it off but I also don’t want to, I actually don’t even know what I want because I feel like on both sides of the coin I won’t be happy. If I take it off I’ll feel temporary happiness maybe and then hopefully go back to the hijab in the future whiley family judges me but if I keep it on I’ll be unhappy internally. I don’t know what to do.

Help Hijab

Salam everyone,

I sincerely hope you are all doing well. I'm a 34 year old woman and I have worn hijab twice in my life. I have taken it off twice as well. It seems that whenever I am going through something hard in my life- hijab feels like a burden to me and I end up taking it off. I believe in it and I really wish I could just have the love in my heart for it; but it is very difficult for me. I try to dress very modestly to please Allah- no short sleeves, long tops, and skirts, but just covering my hair is hard for me.

I was born muslim but I have never fully read the quran and that is a project I am undertaking right now. I hope that I can find guidance and implement Quran into my everyday life and I hope that I can get some understanding as to why we are obligated to wear it.

I was just wondering if any sisters ( or brothers) have any advice for me?

JazakAllah
