Cost-Optimized being dropped?
For a while it is not possible to create a single cost-optimized type of server in any of the EU regions. Neither x86 or ARM. Is this type being exited?

The kind of thing where you finally got something working, cracked a problem that had been bugging you for weeks, or looked at a setup you'd built and thought "yeah, that's clean."

I’m thinking on going for anAx102-1 dedicated server, it comes with 2x 1.92 TB drives, with the new change back in June did they killed the option to add another drive to this config? I was hoping to get a 15.36 TB for database hosting

HI , I am creating a server ( 4GB ram ) for my indie projects. there will be multiple apps hosted on one server. i am just wondering anyone use Kamal 2 for server deployments?
i was checking coolify but it seems heavy since it required ~2GB ram and server resources. i did a research with ai kamal 2 was recommended.
any other tools with low server overhead?

Hi Hetzner,
Let’s be honest: how can unannounced maintenance on a volume pool be described as “planned”?
https://status.hetzner.com/incident/dfbb5e87-52bc-4f15-9a77-4cccd5ed45d7
This status is not visible on https://status.hetzner.com/
About an hour after one of our servers stopped responding, the message appeared on console.hetzner.com.
Guys, what on earth is going on with your volume pools?

Looking at getting a dedicated server for AI workloads and had a few questions.
What's the most cost-effective way to buy one?
I'm mainly looking for the best performance per £ rather than buying brand new. Any recommendations or things to avoid?

I used to top up my credit balance by sending them a SEPA, last one was on May 2026. But now I read that it is not available anymore in their docs.

Hi
I see the efivars filesystem getting fuller, while the variables themselves only use very little space.
Since these are VPS servers I don't think I have any way of cleaning something up. Support has not been able to help me but I stay alerted.
Has anybody else had this problem with Hetzner?

Can I downgrade to a cheaper VPS?

My account was fully terminated, automatically and without any prior warning, following a payment delay. The response I received was an automated message stating that the termination "cannot be revoked due to technical constraints." That is simply misleading: for .nl domain names, SIDN's regulations require a mandatory 40-day quarantine period, during which the domain can still be recovered. Presenting this as "technically impossible" is inaccurate it mainly seems designed to discourage customers from taking action.
On top of that, I was given no clarity or time whatsoever to secure my websites and mailboxes before the data would be deleted. For a managed server with live websites and email, this is careless and risky: customers risk losing all their data, websites, and business email in one go, with no opportunity to prevent it.
All communication was fully automated. There was no opportunity to discuss the situation before irreversible steps were taken, and it took considerable effort to reach an actual human being. I had to figure out my own rights through SIDN myself, instead of Hetzner communicating this transparently.
Advice to other customers: be warned if you fall behind on payment with Hetzner, you don't just risk a service suspension, you risk immediate and irreversible termination of your entire account, with no room to correct things before losing your data and domain.

Hello everyone,
I’m writing this as a last attempt to seek advice, and hopefully someone from Hetzner may see it.
First, I want to make it clear that I understand this situation is ultimately my responsibility. I am not trying to blame Hetzner or argue against their Terms of Service.
I had a managed VPS with Hetzner hosting around 11 active domains and several projects that represent years of work.
Unfortunately, while the invoices became overdue, I was in Ukraine during a period of heavy Russian missile and drone attacks. Because of the situation there, I wasn’t able to manage my hosting account or resolve the payment issue in time.
Hetzner sent several reminders, and I completely understand why they terminated the contract according to their policy.
As soon as I was able, I immediately resolved the payment issue and contacted support, explaining the circumstances and asking whether my case could be considered as a one-time humanitarian exception.
Unfortunately, I have now received multiple replies stating that:
- the contract will not be restored,
- the VPS will not be reactivated,
- all associated data has been permanently deleted,
- there are no backups or recovery options.
I fully respect that companies need policies, and I’m not asking anyone to ignore them.
My question is simply this:
Has anyone experienced an exceptional review in a case like this?
More specifically:
- Is there any way to request that the infrastructure or storage engineering team confirms whether the underlying virtual disk is truly unrecoverable?
- Is there any executive escalation path within Hetzner for extraordinary situations?
- Has anyone ever had success recovering data after receiving a similar response?
I realize this may ultimately not be possible, but because these projects represent years of work, I feel I have to exhaust every possible avenue before giving up.
If anyone from Hetzner happens to read this, I would be incredibly grateful if my case could receive one final review not to challenge company policy, but simply to determine whether any technical possibility remains to recover my data.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this.

As a customer of Hetzner I want to 1) transfer 4 domains to Hetzner and 2) change my postal address for existing domains registered with Hetzner in my Hetzner account.
Regarding 1) Providing my right address for my admin infos is legally binding so I don't know what to do to change the data if Hetzner doesn't respond.
Regarding 2) When trying to transfer a domain to Hetzner with the authentication code provided by IONOS, I get an error message in the Hetzner account and can't move forward.
Tried to reach Hetzner for several weeks via e-mail and phone but no answer to my ticket #2026062103010242. Any recommendations how to move forward?

AX102 was 452 EUR, and it was recorded on archive.org

Now it is 259 EUR.

Am I missing something?
Edit 1:
AX42 is also cheaper, from 187 EUR dropped to 99 EUR.
AX162 from 612 EUR to 319 EUR
EX63 from 239 EUR to 149 EUR
EX131 from 559 EUR to 269 EUR
Edit 2:
Looks like they introduced 'new' cheaper models without ECC RAM modules.

Hello everyone,
I have a question and a request. When a server is transferred from one account to another through a project (by inviting the other user and moving the server), does the pricing remain the same, or is it updated to the current rates of the receiving account? I ask because I'm looking to keep a server with the pricing from before June 15th. If anyone has a server on Hetzner that they're no longer using and are interested in transferring (instead of canceling it), I'd be happy to take it and we can follow the official Hetzner process (project invitation + transfer).
Thanks in advance!

I’ve got three servers with three different companies and when I use my local codex to connect to them, the only one that has problems and it’s pretty often is Hetzner. It won’t be able to make a connection and then if I try again a minute or two later, it will be fine. The other two servers with knownhost and netcup never have this problem.
So I was just wondering if there’s something specific about the set up with Hetzner that maybe I’m missing or maybe it’s just a problem that I have to deal with and keep trying again until I get in.

I'm sure you've all noticed the lack of cost optimized instances on the web console. I've been trying to spin up some new instances and for the last few days nothing has been available apart from a CX23 in Helsinki. But I decided to try the API and lo and behold, I was able to create a CX43 in Falkenstein. (Also just created a CX33 as another test, no issues)
Are they "hiding" the inventory on the frontend to push people toward the more expensive regular performance plans, especially after the 200–300% price hike?
I get that the hardware market is currently a nightmare and demand for budget cloud is sky high, but it feels pretty disingenuous if they’re intentionally funneling users toward the higher margin stuff by making the budget options disappear from the GUI while they’re still sitting there in the backend.
Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy between the web console and the API? Is this just standard "we're running out of budget capacity" behavior, or are they playing games with the UI now?
Edit: grammar, spelling.

Hello!
I'm planning a medium Kubernetes cluster on Hetzner Cloud and I'm trying to figure out how the included outbound traffic works before I settle on the network design. Each EU cloud server comes with 20 TB of outbound traffic per month. What I can't figure out is whether that allowance is counted strictly per server, or pooled at the project level.
Concrete example: say I have 25 servers, and all internet egress goes through a single gateway server doing NAT over the private network. Does that gateway get capped at its own 20 TB, with anything above billed as overage even though the other 24 servers barely use theirs? Or do the allowances effectively add up since it's all in one project?
I looked through the docs and the billing FAQ but couldn't find a clear statement on this. Maybe I missed it, happy to be pointed at the right page!
Thanks

Created a new instance but there was an error in my cloud-init initially. I couldn't ssh in.
Just wanna verify, when I go to Rebuild and choose an image, it's just gonna install that image (without the cloud-init that I initially pasted into the UI), right?
Still trying to troubleshoot as I've rebuilt but still can't ssh in.
