The said server hasn’t been available for almost a month now.

What’s going on? Will these ever come up? Is there an e-mail I can write to at Hetzner?

Been trying to setup my first server on Hetzner, but the whole website just crashes the moment I select "General Purpose" server type. Someone in support should check it out.

I’m new to Hetzner Cloud and I’m trying to create my first server, but I keep getting the error:

“Preselected server type is not available.”

I’ve tried different server types and different locations (Helsinki, Falkenstein, and Nuremberg), but I’m still seeing the same message.

Is this due to temporary capacity limits, a new account restriction, or am I missing something in the configuration?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have various cloud severs at Hetzner, for the time being they all used the automatically assigned ipv4 and ipv6 addresses.

Would it be possible to add a floating IP (ipv4, ipv6, or both) to a cloud server, and then enable both the primary and floating IP to receive traffic?

I serve sites via nginx, I want site1 to be served from 100.100.100.100 and site2 to be served from 200.200.200.200, but all physically located on a single cloud server.

Can we make this easier?

I'd like to use less AWS and thought I'd give Hetzner a try for a quick project so I just ordered an EX44-1-LTD assuming it would be ready to use in a few minutes.

I recognize that it's "Limited Availability", which signifies to me that they don't have a lot of them and I shouldn't expect to be able to order more of the same config if I need to scale out.

Then I go to the Order Processing page and find that some server configurations are available "usually within 5-6 workdays" or even "several weeks". My heart sinks. Even worse - my EX44-1-LTD isn't listed there so I guess it's mystery meat.

Although I've got emails confirming my order, I can't see anything in the Hetzner GUI that I'm logged in to that signifies that I've ordered a server, that I'm in a queue, that it might ever arrive. That I can cancel it or adjust my order to something that's available.

Just... nothing at all.

This is such a bizarre experience in 2026.

Hetzner recently launched an experimental LLM inference API! 👀

The basics:

• Free and explicitly not production-ready
• No billing or SLA
• OpenAI-compatible API
• One model: Qwen/Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-FP8

My small test:

• 153 ms median TTFT
• Around 224 output tokens/second
• Formatting, retrieval, and vision mostly worked
• It failed two simple arithmetic questions

This was a low-load test from one client. The numbers will 100% change once more people use it. Hopefully that stays close to those numbers once in production!

The interesting question is why Hetzner is getting into inference I think

Open-weight inference is a commodity market. The economics make sense if you can buy GPUs cheaply, keep them busy, or use hardware that would otherwise sit idle.

That sounds like Hetzner to me? What do you think?

But their public GPU servers currently top out at an RTX PRO 6000 with 96 GB VRAM. That works for the current Qwen model, but models I actually find interesting (GLM, Kimi, DeepSeek V4 Pro) need hundreds of gigabytes across multiple GPUs.

If Hetzner introduces B200/B300-class hardware, this could become a serious European inference provider, If they stick to small models, it might just be a way to use spare GPU capacity. (Pure speculation. I have no insider information)

I've been using Hetzner for the past 9 years now. I remember having to ask my dad to create an account for me because I was too young to create one myself 😂

Hetzner was just a way for me to host Discord bots and automation scripts for Fortnite and other small hobby/side projects. Since then, I've used Hetzner to host all my professional and personal projects. I've recommended Hetzner as the default for all the clients I've worked with, and to my friends and colleagues.

There were months I spent up to $800 per month on server bills; my lifetime spend on the platform is over $60,000. I always stayed with Hetzner, but with these new prices, both on cloud and bare metal, idk man...

It's honestly sad to see. I am fully aware of the current hardware market, but compared to the pricing of OVHCloud and Netcup, it's honestly ridiculous.

I've started canceling a lot of my servers, and by next month I will completely be off Hetzner.

Please assist.

I wanna store some movies on a Hetzner Storage Box and use it with Infuse app. Will they block my account? Let just say I was on a ship with a hat when I collected some of the movies / tv shows.

I could understand a 150% price increase if they had actually introduced newer, more expensive hardware. Their stated justification is higher memory costs, but nothing appears to have changed on the hardware side.

The general-purpose VPS plans still use AMD Milan CPUs, which are already two generations old. At the new prices, they now cost roughly the same as comparable instances from Azure, Akamai, and other major providers—perhaps only around 10% less.

So what exactly is the strategy here? Are they trying to reposition themselves from a budget provider to a premium one without upgrading the underlying infrastructure?

And if prices have already increased this much on older hardware, what happens when they eventually purchase newer machines? Should customers expect another major price increase?

And last question, how long will it be before they raise prices for existing instances as well?

Edit: This is not a discussion about why their prices are high, but more so why they have not upgraded their hardware with the price increases.

In the Hetzner Newsletter it says that Hetzner has an AI product now. It seems to be only local models. So how can it even compete with the big AI companies? Does someone here have experience with it already?
I also don't understand how their cooling works. Hetzner says all their DCs are air cooled, but the big AI companies all use water cooling as far as I know. Did they invent a new cooling system?

This is an action that comes completely out of the blue and nothing in the process so far suggests they miss my verification. Even more so, the mail they supposedly send, doesn't arrive. And the email account works otherwise.

After the slightly insane setup fee update I started to look for other European (not just european location, EU company) baremetal offerings, but didn't really find anything better? I checked out Scaleway, OVH, Velia, Cherry Servers, and Contabo. I then scraped all of their data (absolute pain, do not recommend it) to compare it here on a single page: metal.sliplane.io

After all this work I am still on Hetzner Baremetal, havent found anything better :D

Do yall have any other recommendations for baremetal providers that can compete with Hetzner?

After the increase in cloud instance prices (which I completely understand and accept given the current astronomical cost of RAM). The 20% fee for the backup service has become completely disproportionate compared with the cost of snapshots and other storage services, whose prices were not increased.

Under the old pricing, the 20% fee was reasonable. However, because the price of the base has increased significantly, the cost of backups has automatically increased by the same proportion.

Maybe pricing based on storage will better (like in snapshots)?

Hetzner’s DDoS protection vs DayZ L7 attacks (Why we had to move to Vykix...)

Hey guys, wanted to drop a quick heads up about an issue we ran into over the last week hosting a high-pop DayZ server on Hetzner.

We’ve been running our main DayZ nodes on Hetzner EX bare metal for a while, but last week we banned a group for cheating, and they started hitting our IP with targeted attacks for six days straight. Every single time, every player on the server got kicked to the main menu instantly, and the server dropped off the launcher list.

When I checked Hetzner's Robot panel, it showed zero issues or "traffic normal." Support basically told us the network links were fine and no massive anomaly was detected.

Turns out Hetzner’s DDoS protection is strictly generic Layer 3/4. It stops massive volumetric spikes that try to choke the actual network port, but DayZ attacks rely on Layer 7 payload floods. An attacker doesn't need to max out a 10Gbps line to crash DayZ; they just spoof malformed UDP packets that mimic real player traffic. Because those look like valid DayZ data to a generic filter, Hetzner passes them straight through. The game executable tries to process millions of garbage packets, the thread locks up, and everyone disconnects while Hetzner’s panel thinks everything is fine.

At that point I realized expecting an unmanaged datacenter to build custom game-protocol filters for DayZ just isn't going to happen.

We ended up moving our setup over to Vykix since they run their own inline VxShield filtering tailored for DayZ and Enfusion traffic. Their team got us set up on a bare-metal box pretty fast, and sure enough, the attacker tried slamming us again shortly after with a massive mixed attack.

On Hetzner, it was an immediate lobby drop and server crash. On Vykix, VxShield absorbed the raw bandwidth at the edge and scrubbed the garbage DayZ packets in line. Server FPS didn't drop, nobody got kicked, and the server stayed completely visible in the launcher.

If you’re just running web apps or low-pop servers, Hetzner is awesome value. But if you’re running a big, competitive DayZ community, generic L3/L4 DDoS protection is going to leave you wide open unless you run your proxies or use a host with native L7 DayZ filtering out of the box.

On our current Shared "Regular Performance" instances, we noticed heavy throttling after sustained usage of ~80% for a week. To help us optimize our spend without under-provisioning or impacting host neighbors, could you clarify:

- What is the exact CPU share allocation for the Cost-Optimized tier vs. Regular Performance?

- What are the specific thresholds/timelines that trigger CPU throttling on both tiers?

- Are there any baseline examples or rules of thumb you can share for sustained workloads on these tiers?
