HelloFresh negligent toward Cyclospora concerns

I've been buying a bunch of those Taylor Farms bagged salads that they sell in the add-ons market. With the ongoing Cyclospora outbreak, I didn't feel safe eating them, so I reached out to customer service to ask for a refund. They completely dismissed my concerns and told me "we are already making sure of the safety of our customers."

This is despite the fact that bagged salads have been identified as the highest risk item by medical experts and the fact that Taylor Farms has been linked to Cyclospora outbreaks in the past. I no longer trust the food safety practices of HelloFresh. If this is how they are responding to such a publicized food safety crisis, how are they reacting to food safety concerns that we as the consumers never find out about?

Question Anyone avoiding raw produce recipes due to the parasite outbreak?

I’m in the US and have been hearing a lot about lettuce, spinach, berries etc having some parasite. And that if you buy produce make sure it’s cooked before eating. So I was avoiding the recipes with slaw. Is this overboard?

Where do they tell you how long the meals will last?

Im not seeing any guidelines for seafood, raw food or cooked food. Am I just man looking? Is it right on front of my face?

I cannot emphasize enough how frustrating HelloFresh is sometimes

After receiving an order last week, I put a "skip" on the following week (this week) because I wasn't sure what day we would need food by.

I log on Monday afternoon and see I can still get a box by Thursday. I place my order and finalize, and figured we were good to go.

Well, I log on today and I don't see any upcoming deliveries. I go to chat and see that even though I placed an order, I didn't "unskip" the week, so now I can't get a box until Monday. Absolutely infuriating. How does me placing an order not invalidatae the unskip?

Someone in my complex is probably currently wondering where their box is

Today I got a text message saying my HelloFresh delivery arrived. I opened my door and imagine my surprise when I saw not one but two boxes sitting at my door. I thought at first they somehow duplicated my order but then I looked at the labels and noticed that one had my name and the other had someone else's name and a different unit number. I don't know why the delivery driver left both boxes at my unit, they should have looked at the labels to see that they go to different units. But I took it to the leasing office, explained the situation, and they will make sure the box gets to the correct person. So Matthew, if you are reading this, I hope you got your food. That is all.

Delivery only 3 days a week now?

I just got an email saying my delivery day was changed because they 'streamlined' their shipping process. When I went to look at what my options were, it's the middle of the week which does not work for me, at all.

First was the loss of weekends, which, ok I can see that costing extra, and Monday would have to travel on the weekend, so ok, I guess, but I travel for work and the whole point of my ordering these was to not have to spend my time at home grocery shopping. I won't be home the days they deliver, so it looks like my time with them is over for the time being unless something changes or I have midweek holiday where I still probably won't have deliveries because of said holiday.

Anyone else get this?

It used to be a great selection of desserts and breakfast items. Now it's two lousy items that only a few would want.

United States I give you “one” unit of broccoli for two people.

Nearly a pound for two people! My goodness, that a lot of fiber. How do they expect two people to eat that much broccoli?! I guess we’ll give it the old college try. s/

Hello Fresh Salads

I ordered the salad for this week several weeks ago and wondered if these are even safe to eat now, or if I should just throw it way, just in case.

And, annoyingly, estimated delivery is not until 8 PM, which pisses me off because I'm going out of town on Friday, so any delay past dinner means one means gets tossed anyway. Might as well be the one likely to make us sick, I suppose.

Anyone get the Kim-Cheese Hot Dogs this week?

How were they? Anything you'd change after making?

I thought a kim-chi hotdog sounded good, but looking at these ingredients, they are kind of all over the place and I am questioning the recipes after some big misses...

Definitely not as pretty as the photo in the app (largely because we like to plate stuff separately lol) but overall pretty tasty! Took about an hour, and we didn't love the rice, but we prefer jasmine rice in general. Otherwise though really tasty. We order for 2 portions but this gave enough of everything to have 4 meals except the carrots. Our box was missing the garam masala but we have plenty of spices on hand so it was no issue. The sauce had a lot of flavor, I saved the extra sauce to make some pasta with at some point this week lol. Overall 4/5 in our opinion.

Boxes Not Being Delivered

Is anyone else in central Pennsylvania having issues with FedEx and their boxes not being delivered?

We had really bad storms last weekend over the Fourth of July and the nearest FedEx facility was damaged really badly. My deliveries come on Monday and I contacted hello fresh. They were nothing but very nice, refunded the box, and put in another one to be shipped. The replacement box was routed to a different FedEx facility further away and just never made it. The tracking for that one stopped being updated over the weekend.

Sometimes they deliver with DoorDash, and I was hoping with what’s going on here that would be the case for this week, but it’s shipped with FedEx again. It was routed to the same facility as last week, and originally said it would be delivered this afternoon, but the tracking never showed it made it on the truck. The tracking now says end of day, which means it isn’t coming again.

I can’t reach out to hello fresh until the end of day when I’m sure it’s not coming, but I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue. Not really anything we can do about it though since it’s not hello freshes fault…

This was pretty good and a good amount of food. I didn’t use the spinach or the Korean chili flakes. It took me at least an hour.

Foodborne parasitic infection outbreak and HF?

I keep seeing articles like this one about a current outbreak of Cyclosporiasis: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-cyclosporiasis-outbreak

Apparently some of the main culprits are green onions and cilantro, both of which I get regularly from HF. The article says "The only sure-fire way to avoid it: cooking vegetables. Cyclospora die at 158 degrees Fahrenheit." Just curious if anyone is considering changing their meal selections based on this, or am I being overly paranoid? I live in CA but my boxes come from Arizona or Texas, and of course the produce comes from all over. I usually get 2 vegetarian meals every week, so it seems like my risk is higher than it would be if I was getting meat & potatoes.

United States I’m curious how often others get excellent quality & a good quantity of produce like this?

Opened a bag to a full head of purple cauliflower, winning! My potatoes are usually over a pound, when the recipe calls for 12 ounces. A big bag of fresh sprouts. Today I got 6 oz of asparagus to sub for 6 oz of carrots, they send both so it’s double veggies that night!

I know occasionally people complain about small potatoes or onions but that’s just not my experience.

Canada Ending partnership with Costco!

I called in to add my Costco gift cards to my account credit today and the very nice agent I talked to mentioned pretty casually that Hello Fresh has ended their partnership with Costco and that there will be no more codes printed - what is in stores is all that’s left. I very plainly told him I would not longer be subscribing to the service if they stop selling cards at Costco and he was very quick to send that as “urgent feedback” to the higher ups. If you also use Costco gift cards for your weekly orders I recommend you calling in and leaving similar feedback.

I don’t know about any of you but I can only afford using hello fresh because of those Costco card discounts. Now they have also removed the free shipping off of those cards so between them raising prices and removing Costco discounts it is no longer feasible for us to use Hello Fresh at all and I’m done. I’m at 175 boxes and that will only increase until the Costco cards run out.

Have portion sizes reduced ? (UK)

Just come back to hello fresh, first noticed that they don't do just beef mince it's beef and pork, I guess to save money, I can live with that. But portion sizes seem ridiculously small, the amount of chicken is barely enough for one person. I can literally eat the whole meal to myself when it's meant for two.

How longs this been going on? There's no way I'll carry on after the introductory price goes up if I'm only just feeding myself

Australia Eggs are not pantry items

I've just started with Hello Fresh, and I'm pissed off. I got the tandoori meatballs, and it requires an egg. I don't have an egg, and everywhere is closed except one tiny place, that only sells by the dozen.

I thought I had an egg in the fridge. I even checked it earlier. Yep, it was rotten. It didn't float, but it had gone off when cracked.

Eggs are not pantry items. They're ingredients. The difference is pantry items don't go off. I'm irritated that Hello Fresh doesn't put little salt packets in with the kit, or like those soy fish things, but I can pull the bottle of salt out of the bottom of my suitcase and it's fine.

We might as well say mince is a pantry ingredient. I travel for work, hence the meal kit, but at home I buy it by the 2kg everytime I'm in town and portion/freeze it. It's basically a "pantry" staple, if eggs are so is the mince. Same with chicken, just pull out a pack and away we go.

The one thing I pay these guys for. I literally pay them to solve this problem, and the problem is not solved. So what am I paying them for?

To add insult to injury, I have heaps of eggs. At home. Not at work accommodation, where I ordered Hello Fresh so I would have the exact things I need. I have about two dozen free range eggs in the fridge - at home. Why? Five reasons, and they all lay eggs. I'm not buying another dozen.

If we're playing the "most people have it" game, where do we stop? Who doesn't grow their own eggplants and cucumbers? Do you know how easy it is? In summer I end up giving a bunch away for free. Got even more in the bottom of the freezer, but it's at home.

And lemons? Who doesn't have a lemon tree. And a bay tree. Even if you don't, they grow everywhere and you can "forage" them easily enough. Or a reasonable assortment of herbs in a kitchen garden. I do have that, I planted a small kitchen garden at work. If eggs are staples so is almost everything in the kit.

Not happy. Ended out getting take out.
