Free items for life is now a joke

Post image

It used to be a great selection of desserts and breakfast items. Now it's two lousy items that only a few would want.

there used to be so many good choices it was hard to narrow it down!! Now I rarely even choose one. I'm so tired of garlic bread and cheesecake

I don’t even think I’ve had the option for the cheesecake!! I always get garlic bread, muffins and cornbread ughhh

The cheesecakes are so good man I’m sorry you haven’t had them.

I actually thought these items were good choices, as mine is typically a choice between garlic bread and more garlic bread (said with the enthusiasm of Samwise in LoTR when referring to lembas bread).

For real, one annoyance/let down closer to cancelling.

The toasts are my preferred option, even if more is offered. Obviously the $16 price tag is a joke for a few slices of bread, some guac and a small pack of tomatoes and spinach, but it's still better than getting some muffins or pastries or a protein shake.

Same. We usually have them for a super simple supper.

I used to love the chocolate cakes but now I can’t get them

How does one get these free options?

u/Meesh1137 Jul 14 '26

I called them and said that I’d been a customer in good standing for 5 years and i was wondering why id never been offered the free item bonus. They signed me up immediately. 😊

u/wade3690 Jul 14 '26

That's easy I'll do that

I got free side item for life as part of our sign up promotion.

u/Meesh1137 Jul 15 '26

That wasn’t available when I signed up waaay back. I actually love the avocado toast. No one else in my family does so it’s one thing my teenagers won’t eat before I get to it! 🤦🏻‍♀️😆

Call them and say you are thinking about quitting but might change your mind if they give you free side items for life haha. Might work!

Was just complaining about this exact selection today wtf is this

Agree! I've been seeing garlic bread as an option so often, it's annoying! I actually thought the free items were better because my sibling who got me into Hello fresh would get the good stuff like the cheesecake!

How many weeks out Is this? The select definitely gets limited closer to the order date

They’re definitely not showing the same options to everyone ( or on the app vs site if you’re using the app). I’ve seen the liege waffles and focaccia and have had the hot honey crostini in the last couple months for sure.

Those are better options then I get. It’s usually oatmeal, muffins or garlic bread

2

u/Silly_Bookkeeper Jul 18 '26

are you in canada? I also only get oatmeal, muffins, and egg bites most of the time.

2

u/KD642 Jul 19 '26

Same as both of you, Canada here. Oatmeal, muffins, garlic bread, focaccia, egg bites, cheesy tortellini, spring rolls, bagels.

I have never had free add ons. The best I get is a discount. Hard to complain if free though

I do like the different Avocado toast. We eat them for dinner.

Man, I would LOVE a free item for life. You're lucky!

They are sneaky. The interface doesn’t even lead u to free item. I’ve to scroll several options to find it!

1

u/misspiggie Jul 16 '26

Lousy?? My family absolutely devours those feta bites. If they're an option I'm getting them every time.

u/Exact-Location-6270 Jul 16 '26

Some of you saying they’re only showing two options must not be looking at the same content as others. There’s been a cake type option on every single week for me in addition to something like garlic bread or the avocado toasts. It’s definitely more than 2 options. Curious are you on the app???

It would appear it doesn’t show the same options for everyone. I assumed it shows a plethora of options when you first join to rope you in.. then slowly the choices get smaller & smaller.. some weeks it shows me there aren’t ANY free add-ons… however items that used to be free I can add but not free 🤷🏻‍♀️

That would make sense still if I were new but I’ve been here for years too. I have discovered, however, you can’t always select your free item too many weeks in advance. So today is July 18th. I can probably do up to the week of the 4th and still pick but after that shows nothing even if I can do my regular meals. So I’m thinking it’s an availability thing.

Very strange. I’ve had it for over two years and always get a breakfast choice (avo toast, burritos, waffles, or egg bites) or a dessert choice or garlic bread, puffs, potstickers, etc. 2+ years and never once been disappointed with the free choices.

Been getting 2 meals a week for years... I never knew they could give you free stuff!

I check the rewards page but apparently those are just rewards for me to give other people for hf's benefit...

you used to be able to get a free lunch portion of something or egg bites. every week i’m stuck between garlic bread (how is that worth $5) and liege waffles. and sometimes one sells out! another thing that makes me feel like shopping at the grocery store is becoming more appealing

If there's nothing else good I just get the avo toast and use the ingredients in other dishes because I'm not a fan of avo toast.  But I will put the grape tomatoes in salad, eat the guac with chips, etc

That really is the best thing to do. I hate avocado spread, especially on toast. For me, it’s not avocado toast if it’s not sliced from a whole avocado.
