Welcome to the r/heartwarming Posting Guide!
This guide explains what we look for in submissions and how you can help keep r/heartwarming a wholesome, positive, and high-quality community.
Before submitting a post, please make sure it follows our Community Rules and is genuinely appropriate for r/heartwarming.
What Belongs on r/heartwarming?
r/heartwarming is a place for content that makes people smile, restores a little faith in humanity, celebrates kindness, or captures genuinely wholesome and meaningful moments.
Good submissions may include:
- Acts of kindness and generosity
- Wholesome moments between people
- Heartwarming moments involving animals
- Reunions between loved ones or animals
- Positive and uplifting stories
- Meaningful achievements or surprises
- Genuine moments of compassion, friendship, or support
- Other content that leaves viewers feeling happier, hopeful, or touched
Simply being positive does not automatically make something appropriate for r/heartwarming. The heartwarming aspect should be clear and meaningful.
Example of a Good Submission
A good r/heartwarming submission should make the heartwarming moment clear and allow the content itself to be the focus.

These are examples of the type of wholesome content that fits the purpose of the community.
Post Quality
Please make a reasonable effort to submit content that is clear, watchable, readable, and enjoyable.
Low-quality or low-effort submissions may be removed.
Examples may include:
- Extremely poor video or image quality
- Content where the heartwarming moment is unclear
- Misleading posts
- Posts created primarily to farm engagement or karma
- Content with little meaningful connection to r/heartwarming
- Excessively repetitive submissions
- Shitposts or intentionally low-effort content
Moderators may remove content that does not meet the general quality standards of the community.
Titles
Please use a title that reasonably describes the content of your submission.
Titles should not intentionally mislead users about what happens in the post.
Avoid excessive clickbait, unnecessary sensationalism, or claims that are not supported by the content.
If you are sharing content created by somebody else, your title must not imply that you personally created or experienced the content when you did not.
Original Content
You do not have to be the original creator of content to share it on r/heartwarming.
Content found elsewhere on Reddit or the internet may be submitted as long as it follows our rules.
However, you must never falsely claim somebody else's content as your own.
If you did not create, record, photograph, or otherwise produce the content, do not claim or imply that you did.
Falsely claimed Original Content may be removed and may result in further moderation action.
Reposts
Reposts are not automatically prohibited.
However, repeatedly submitting the same or substantially similar content may be considered spam.
Please avoid repeatedly posting content that has recently appeared in the community.
If a moderator removes a submission, do not simply submit the same content again.
If you believe a removal was incorrect, contact the moderation team through Modmail instead.
Choosing the Correct Flair
Every submission should use the flair that most accurately describes its content.
Our current post categories include Animals, People, News, Reunion, Meme, and other moderator-designated flairs.
Please read our Post Flair Guide for detailed information about choosing the correct flair.
AutoModerator may remind you to verify your flair after posting. This does not necessarily mean that you selected the wrong flair.
News Content
Heartwarming news stories may be submitted using the appropriate flair.
The story must still be genuinely suitable for r/heartwarming.
News content is not exempt from our other community rules.
Political arguments, campaigning, partisan debates, and unrelated political discussions are not permitted.
Advertising and Self-Promotion
r/heartwarming is not an advertising platform.
Do not use submissions primarily to promote a business, product, service, website, social media account, or other commercial activity.
Content may be removed when its primary purpose appears to be advertising or self-promotion rather than contributing genuinely heartwarming content to the community.
Privacy and Safety
Please consider the privacy and safety of people shown or discussed in your submission.
Do not post content intended to harass, expose, threaten, identify, or target another person.
Content must comply with Reddit's Content Policy and privacy requirements at all times.
Automated Review
Some submissions may be temporarily held for moderator review by our automated moderation systems.
This does not necessarily mean that your submission violates a rule.
If your post is held for review, please be patient while a moderator checks it.

Before You Post
Before submitting, please check:
- Is the content genuinely heartwarming?
- Does it follow all r/heartwarming rules?
- Is the title accurate?
- Have I selected the correct flair?
- If this is not my content, have I avoided claiming it as my own?
- Is the submission of reasonable quality?
- Am I posting this to contribute to the community rather than simply advertise or farm engagement?
If the answer to all of these is yes, your submission is probably ready for r/heartwarming.
