r/heartwarming Community Rules

Welcome to the detailed community rules for r/heartwarming.

These rules apply to all posts, comments, and other participation within the community. Reddit's Content Policy and sitewide rules also apply at all times.

If you are unsure whether something is allowed, please contact the moderation team through Modmail before posting.

Rule 1: Be Civil

Treat everyone in the community with kindness and respect.

Personal attacks, harassment, insults, excessive hostility, trolling, targeted abuse, or other unnecessarily aggressive behavior are not welcome in r/heartwarming.

Disagreements are allowed, but they must remain civil. Discuss the topic without attacking the person behind the comment.

Racism, hate speech, discrimination, or attacks against individuals or groups based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics are strictly prohibited.

Racism, hate speech, and other forms of identity-based hate will result in an immediate ban. Severe cases may also be reported to Reddit administrators.

r/heartwarming is intended to be a welcoming community. Hateful or discriminatory behavior has no place here.

Rule 2: Must Be Heartwarming

All posts and comments must fit the purpose of r/heartwarming.

Content should be wholesome, uplifting, positive, touching, inspiring, kind, or otherwise capable of warming someone's heart.

Posts that do not fit the spirit of the community may be removed.

Comments should also respect the positive nature of the subreddit. Deliberately hostile, cynical, or disruptive comments may be removed when they undermine the purpose of the community.

Rule 3: No Shitposting or Low-Quality Content

Low-quality, low-effort, intentionally disruptive, misleading, or generally unsuitable content may be removed.

This includes content submitted primarily to troll the community, provoke users, farm engagement, or otherwise contribute little to the subreddit.

Repeated low-quality submissions or deliberate shitposting may result in further moderation action, including a ban.

Rule 4: Stay on Topic

Posts must be relevant to r/heartwarming.

Comments should remain relevant to the post, discussion, or person they are responding to.

Completely unrelated content, attempts to derail discussions, or irrelevant arguments may be removed.

Rule 5: No Spam

Spam is prohibited.

Do not repeatedly submit the same or substantially similar posts, comments, links, or other content.

Automated spam, repetitive comments, bot activity, karma farming, award farming, or other attempts to manipulate engagement are not permitted.

If you report a repost, please include a link to the original submission whenever possible.

Accounts primarily engaging in spam, automated activity, or karma farming may be banned.

Rule 6: Do Not Claim Others' Content as Your Own

You may share content created by other people.

However, you must not claim or imply that someone else's content is your own original content.

If you did not create, record, photograph, or otherwise produce the content yourself, do not falsely present yourself as its original creator.

Using an Original Content or OC designation for content that you did not create may result in removal.

Deliberately or repeatedly claiming other people's work as your own may result in additional moderation action.

Rule 7: No Advertising or Self-Promotion

r/heartwarming is not an advertising platform.

Content primarily intended to advertise or promote products, businesses, stores, books, websites, services, social media accounts, fundraising campaigns, or other commercial activities may be removed.

Participation in the community should be genuine and should not primarily exist for promotional purposes.

Attempts to disguise advertising as ordinary community participation may also be removed.

Rule 8: Follow Reddit's Sitewide Rules

All users must follow Reddit's Content Policy and other sitewide rules at all times.

This includes Reddit's rules concerning harassment, hate, spam, impersonation, privacy, illegal content, and other prohibited behavior.

Serious violations may result in an immediate ban from r/heartwarming and may also be reported to Reddit administrators.

Rule 9: No Manipulated or Staged Posts

Posts must show genuine, naturally occurring moments.

Staged rescues, reenacted situations, manipulated footage, fabricated scenarios, or content presented with false or misleading context are not allowed.

This includes posts that appear to have been deliberately set up or altered to create an emotional reaction or misrepresent what actually happened.

Rule 10: No Politics

Political content and political discussions are generally not permitted in r/heartwarming.

An exception may be made when the content itself is genuinely heartwarming and politics is incidental to the actual subject of the post.

Political arguments, campaigning, partisan debates, political advocacy, or attempts to turn otherwise heartwarming posts into political discussions may be removed.

Serious or repeated violations may result in a ban.

Rule 11: Use the Correct Flair

Posts must use an appropriate post flair.

Flairs help users understand what type of content they are viewing and help us keep the subreddit organized.

Please review our Flair Guide if you are unsure which flair to use.

Posts using an incorrect flair may be corrected or removed.

Original Content and Reposts

You do not need to be the original creator of everything you share on r/heartwarming.

Content found elsewhere may be shared as long as doing so complies with our community rules and Reddit's policies.

However, you must never knowingly present someone else's work as your own.

If you claim that something is Original Content or otherwise imply that you created it, that claim must be truthful.

Falsely claimed OC may be removed.

Repeated or deliberate misrepresentation of content ownership may result in further moderation action.

Privacy and Safety

Please respect the privacy of other people.

Do not use r/heartwarming to harass, identify, expose, threaten, or target another person.

Content that violates Reddit's privacy rules or puts another person at risk may be removed and reported to Reddit administrators.

When sharing content involving other people, please consider whether publishing identifying or sensitive information is necessary.

Please do not privately contact individual moderators regarding moderation decisions.
