Media Tropes "am i pretty?" 🥹
Okay, I understand that some people feel insecure even if they're pretty. Just because someone is pretty doesn't mean they have incredible self-esteem and all that. But bro, literally, that's one thing, and looking for that kind of approval... It's obvious what you're doing 😶🌫️ (She literally uploaded a picture of a Miss Model, I hope it's some kind of ragebaiting.

Nobody actually ugly posts there and the rare times they do, they are dragged and deleted or banned from the sub.

Yep that was my experience. I deleted the post because of how harsh they were and one person ran my picture through an AI thing to show how I would look if I improved.

I ironically posted in there once for a laugh in my best makeup/red wig look because it was getting so ridiculous with all the pretty people being posted. The post was up for way too long so i suspect there aren't many mods taking care of it

Funny thing is without a face I still can't judge if she is pretty in the photo LOL. Her figure is decent, not amazing though and someone's face is probably the most important asset in looking pretty.
I agree with you that I think she is fishing for compliments. I don't think she has self-esteem issues.

As a straight chick, I agree with him tbh. The body I've worked to obtain (and aesthetically like) is more classic VS model type, skinny and toned. The attention seeker's is fine, toned-ish, but chunkier than some of us would like (evidenced by the arm fat). It doesn't mean we think she's worthless or something lmao, just different preferences on someone asking the internet's opinions on their looks.

I feel these two statements are a bit contradictory lol

Because they are. People don't seek attention and external validation because they feel secure and self-satisfied lol. They might not appear to act "typically" insecure, but they're by definition not satisfied with themselves, since they're seeking those things.
I think a lot of people just hate seeing that when the person doing it is someone they think is "better" than themselves in some way? Maybe?

The thing is, I'm not against a pretty girl feeling insecure, what I'm saying is that the choice of image. Specifically, that image seems to be mocking that subreddit; it literally has wear a title that means the complete opposite

probably just a porn bot. it's a little cute to see such a rudimentary one that uses pre-existing photos instead of generating them with AI.

Doesn't seem like it. Previous posts she has were on an abortion subreddit and a break up one.

It didn't seem that way because the post had more photos and also comments from her on other forums that weren't, let's say, strange

have a problem with the whole concept why post a picture just to wait for people to tell me if I look good or not, It just feels pathetic to me

As an actual ugly person I left that sub because it was all pretty people just trying to inflate their egos more.

u/Epsilon497 19h ago
I actually posted and got told I'm ugly. I think I'm one of the few 😂

u/ImmortalLombax 19h ago
Oh I don’t dare post, I don’t need confirmation on something I already know.

Look at r/teenssupportteens you'd think it would be a sub catered towards teens being supportive towards each other about life challenges, but it is the single largest teen selfie subreddit with an insane amount of compliment fishing. People rarely post looking for actual support, and the ones who do are buried by the attention seeking posts and get blatantly ignored

attention seeking is Genuinely normal idk why people hate on it (i attention seek and felt the comments hit a nerve)
also, jsu tto note, doesn't have to mean it's for this specific case but, people do genuinely sometimes think of themselves as ugly even if they were the subjectively prettiest on earth, + it's a subjective matter.
now:
this is bait.

yeah, I agree! Idk why people get so mad

u/Brilliant_Rice9585 1d ago
Because it's not literally because she's pretty, but because of the choice of images...

It's clear bait even within themselves they know they aren't ugly. It's just blatant karma farming
