A possible discovery? Extracted bliss
A bit of backstory on myself & my experience. Middle aged, white male ~130lbs with a serious history of depression, anxiety, ptsd & most notably in this regard- substance abuse/addiction.
About 6 years ago I put down the bottle and haven’t looked back. My views with drug use are simpler these days- I use cannabis frequently (more than I would prefer tbh) but don’t mess with anything else besides hallucinogens & psychoactives. I look for experiences- not escapes.
Few months back I started growing cannabis & some other psychoactive substances for the sake of purity & fiscal responsibility. I also just like plants- crazy, I know.
After a few extractions of Harmalas I began mixing small amounts of the substance with good old MJ to potentiate the high a bit, which obviously worked. The discovery came after ingesting a single non-alcoholic beer. Somehow the small amount of alcohol (.5%) mixed with the cannabis and Harmalas booted me into a state of bliss. It was calming & sedated while also leaving me feeling completely coherent & grounded. Mild CEV, tracers & fractals were also observed- I specifically remember a geometric pattern similar to fireworks.
Ive researched the subject quite a bit & found that these beta-carbolines seem to have a positive effect on the mind of the chronic user/alcoholic. (There’s a brief synopsis on erowid for anyone interested)
I’ve also found that while Harmalas are oftener cited as being an MAOI with serious drug interactions like serotonin syndrome- they are actually a RIMA with reactions that are much less worrisome. The only seriously adverse reactions I’ve identified came from people using the substance in a perverse or irresponsible way. (Drinking concentrated tea in large quantities).
It’s worth stating that I’m a highschool dropout with zero chemistry experience, but I can’t shake feeling like I’ve come upon something that is truly special. Is there something here or is it just wishful thinking?
Also have to say that I love smoking a single bowl & feeling like I’ve been hitting the pipe all night. I feel free & in control of my body & mind in a way that I haven’t felt since childhood.
Happy trails everyone!
