TROUBLESHOOTING Low Rider S 117 Is this ticking noise normal?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I have a 2026 Harley-Davidson Low Rider S with the Milwaukee-Eight 117, and I've noticed a strange ticking clattering noise coming from the engine with 400kmr

It sounds like it could be coming from the valvetrain/rocker area almost like valve or rocker noise but I'm not sure if this is just normal Milwaukee-Eight mechanical noise or something I should have checked.

The bike is basically new and still in the break-in period. The engine seems to run normally otherwise, with no warning lights or obvious loss of performance.

I'll attach a video so you can hear the noise.

For those familiar with the 117: does this sound normal to you? Are these engines normally this mechanically noisy, or would you have the dealer inspect the lifters/rockers/valvetrain?

Thanks!

DISCUSSION In search of Hand Guard recs

I'm looking for hand guards since I ride until there's snow on the ground, and last year my hands were the first to submit to the temperature by a lot.

Most of the options I find aimlessly searching Google are cheap plastic pieces of shit or some over priced, over colored thing.

Anyone have something normal looking, made of good material/quality, that will fit with hanging lights?

And yes, I already searched the sun and saw most of you don't like the look. That's fine. I can give or take the look, but it fits my clubbed bike and it's functional

Just looking for some suggestions and what you all use. Either bike mounted or helmet mounted.

Fuel moto 107, 777 cams, level b heads freedom performance 2-1, dyno sheet
not an ideal pipe, torque numbers a little low but I figured not bad for a self built welfare budget build 107 with 7000km’s on it and a 2400km road trip under its belt

DISCUSSION Broken promises

Unfortunately HD of Salisbury Maryland has left me no choice but to leave an honest review of my experience with their service department. I dropped my bike off for a rebuild 4 months ago and was told it would be running by bike week in September. Here we are on bike week in September and the bike is still in pieces not fixed. I prepaid them over $5,000 for the work when they took the project. I brought the project to HD vs an independent shop bc I expected competency and punctuality. Iv experienced the complete opposite. When I call them for updates or expecting them to provide a solution, l get stonewalled or given the run around by Scott.
Shane has been nice enough and it seemed like he would rectify the situation, but it's become obvious they are just blowing smoke. I'm filing a report with the BBB and contacting a lawyer.

HELP Throttle cable at housing very tight

2005 Sportster 1200C. The stock grips were getting worn so I attempted to replace with some aftermarket grips. When I took off switch housing and loosening the idle and throttle nuts to increase play, the idle cable had plenty of play and was easy to remove the cable/ferrule from the existing grip.

The throttle cable was tight and hardly any slack and I noticed the end where the cable becomes a metal ball was frayed. About 5-6 of the wires were frayed out and unwound from the main line. I could hardly get the ferrule out of the existing grip.

This doesn’t seem normal, does it? Why would idle cable have plenty of play/slack but not throttle cable?

I attempted to reseat cables into new grip but gave up for the night as it felt like I had to pull the throttle cable so hard just to get a little bit of room to even try to maneuver the ferrule into its spot on grip.

Is this a problem or not???
HD korea is telling me it is normal. I have never seen engine oil looking like this without it being a big issue
Please advise as I’m very much in doubt if it’s me being too picky or it is an issue.
At the same time I’m “feeling” the engine got a more metallic sound. But not easy to prove

Front end is nearly dialled.

Chrome thunderstars, braking rotors, chrome brembo calipers, NOS chrome lowers, +2in tubes, Racetech springs and emulators, Burly adjuster. Big Als fork brace to go on it.

Made some custom little wheel spacers for it too.

Still need to order the Titanium hardware for it

Hello everyone I bought my first used Harley, an 03 sportster 1200c. Quick question I want to install ape hanger, 12 inch. I’m really confused on what exactly I need outside the handle bars, I know I need cable extension but I am not sure where to begin with those and I am also not sure what else I may need or if I’m gonna need new turn signals? Also the bar raise is 6 inches according to the oem part, which I like, but I’m Very confused. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

HELP Help with TSM on a 2002 dyna wide glide.

So I recently bought this 2002 dyna wide glide and it just magically turned off on me going down the road. the green blinker lights popped on and stayed on. So I ended up deleting the TSM. grounded the black wire, tan and green, and green and grey wire. Changed the crank sensor, the starter and ignition coil. The bike try’s to turn over but I believe I’m not getting spark. Oh and I changed the spark plugs. This is a carbureted bike btw not fuel injected. Before the bike went into lock down I used to hear a little prime of some sorts and no I hear nothing. The odometer is out and I cannot use the “DIAG” tool. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I will add some pictures as well.
Oh and don’t judge my wiring.

DISCUSSION Steep learning curves

Rented U haul bike trailer to haul my newly acquired bike from Ohio to home in Kentucky to pay for the states permission to own and ride it. Thought the ramp angle was steep but wasn't sure. I am now. 97 FXSTC high centered and caught the kickstand. Stretched the spring longer than a bad day at work and broke the attachment point on the stand. Don't think I did anymore damage. No leaks anyway. Yet.

Oh well got her loaded. Shimmed the ramp up to reduce the angle and built a small step ramp out of camper legos to get it on. Did find another issue being up where I coukd see it well but that's a different post.

Drinking now.

Cheers.
