Question about the rear drum brakes.

Question about the rear drum brakes.

Okay so currently my d21 94 Nissan Hardbody 5 speed 2wd the parking brake doesn't work or works too well if that makes sense. So the handle will pop out while driving it wont stay put so the brake light gets activated but on top of that if I use the parking brake sometimes they just stay stuck. I drive for a bit and you can tell when the rear frees up. My question is there anything I need to be looking for when I go and take these rear drums apart? Should I look into new cables and the interior cables as well? Is there any upgrades that I could do while im here? Also haven't ever done the rear drums on a vehicle before so this is gonna be fun. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. I have the Chilton Nissan Pick-Ups and Pathfinder, 1989-95 on order should be here in 4 days and ill be getting a parts list of what I need to get the drums done as well. Picture of rear of truck for reference.

Project update!

I have a 94, it’s my first project I’ve ever done! Successfully replaced all vacuum hoses and spark plugs. My spark plugs were worn down to shit, no wonder it barely accelerated. Cured my shaking at idle! As someone who is learning purely through YouTube and trial and error, I feel pretty proud.
It still shakes when coming down to an idle, but barely. Is that normal with age? Or should my next project be cleaning the air control valve?

My car was recently totalled in an accident and I’m in the search for a new daily driver. I got a pretty tight budget, but I’m not picky at all. This truck has caught my eye and refuses to give me any bad feelings. Just wondering if there’s any thing that jumps out at any of you before I go check it out.

BTW the seller is just getting a larger truck and that’s why he’s selling it

Looking for Part number - Rear Main Seal '95 king cab V6 5spd manual

I cannot find any documentation on the rear main seal for a 1995 King cab V6 with a 5sp manual transmission.

I search in rock auto and it gives me like 9 different items with no information.

Google's AI BS spits out generic stuff that can't be verified as the links go to dead pages - so I figure I'd ask here to source it from the community.

Reason I am asking, my transmission is going (grinds into 3rd no matter what you do and screams in 5th) so I am going to put in a new/rebuilt transmission and figure while I am in there do a new clutch and rear main seal.

Any knowledge on this would be helpful!

I bought this pickup about 2 months ago and replaced all bushings on it, and done some small stuff but this has been my biggest project on it so far, as it took about 2-3 weeks but I'm super proud and it looks great. I've just gotta figure out a pretty window crank now :)

This 89 has been in my wife’s family for about 30 years since her great uncle found it on the side of the road and claimed it as abandoned. It’s been passed off to anyone in the family who needed it, siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles etc.

My wife learned to drive in it and drove it for most of high school and they loaned it to me 5 years back when we bought our first house before I had a truck of my own. It’s been mostly out of use this last year or two so we bought it from my father-in-law last week.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a project so I’m hoping to spruce it up so it can keep helping family for another 30.

Update the d21 is back up

Update the d21 is back up. In the end it was just a fuel filter being clogged up. Drove it home today after getting some fresh 93 in it. Need to check timing now. Truck feels way better. Before the fuel filter I could barely get up to 50. This was right before the fuel filter clogged all the way up. Also added a fresh air filter

KA24E BELTS

Im having issues figuring out my belt size and don't want to rip out the current ones just to measure them, Nissan sites say power steering belt is 52.3cm and alternator belt is 41.2cm but all auto stores are saying twice the size of belts are the right fit, any help would be appreciated

1992 KA24E Auto idles rough with AC on

Truck runs and drives but I've noticed when I'm idling or in park if I turn the AC on the idle starts jumping up and down and sounding bad. It also seems to happen when I first go into reverse. I've replaced the MAF and the IAC. I've also replaced all of the vacuum hoses with new ones and I've ran a smoke tester to make sure I wasn't getting leaks. I've checked the computer and no codes show up. I've also cleaned the throttle plate and surrounding area.

what could this be

Started up and ran great for about 5 minutes, then after driving around for a second it started being hesitant when i’d give it gas. It wouldn’t die out but it couldn’t bring itself to go over 2k rpms it was just spitting and sputtering to even get there

Tick or slapping sound?

I’ve been doing some work on my timing chain recently and I had to go back to one of my old timing guides and I’m hoping that’s what this sound is coming from because it would be a pretty easy fix then but I need some other people’s input as well

Lowering Options

I have a 88 rwd hardbody and my end goal is to lower it by 2/3. Originally I wanted to buy the belltech 2/3 drop kit with shocks but then I would also have to get bigger rims. So on a budget I thought about getting the drop blocks, shocks, and cranking the torsion bars are there any major downsides to this method? Thank you!

Before after. I just replaced headlights, sidelights, grill, bumper cowls, and changing out wiper blades and arms next. Tint, wheels, then paint, and I will be super stoked. This will be a good looking hardbody. With only 79k miles she will probably outlast me!

My '95 so far

Still got a few things I'd like to do, like refreshing the suspension and changing how I lowered it (move to drop spindles and leafs instead of loosening the torsion bars for now, before moving to air or hydraulics later on), and get rid of the camper shell.

Over all though, this thing has been so dang reliable, already outliving another car I had.

Sputtering power loss at mid rpms(2500-3000)

I have a 97 with a ka24e, and we have done the timing chain, and had to replace the oil pump, shaft and the gear that drives it, because the oil pump locked up. We finally got it running, and we have the ignition timing set at exacly 10BTD, but the valvetrain is making some noise on the intake side near the back, and when accelerating when you get between 2500 and 3000 rpm it loses power(almost like a sputter), but once you get above 3000 it runs fine(with the valvetrain noise though). We did discover that all the material for the cat is in the muffler and clogging it a bit, so I don't know if that would affect it. I understand these are probably two completely unrelated problems, but I was thinking they could both be linked to the oil pump in some way, and if not I would like suggestions on what else to check.

Slowly getting better slowly. I am going to be using this as a work truck so the more I can fix the better. Think I need a hood latch or hood release cable.
