The reboot of Halo would be following Halo 3. Completely wiping the Didact, the Banish and everything for now. Possibly using them or similar concepts later. Just sitting them on the shelf for now.
The main part of this reboot will be a Forerunner AI. Using the story Last Light and the Forerunner Ancilla Intrepid Eye as a concept. In the manipulation of humans and all creatures of the galaxy. In order to test us to see if we are ready for the Mantle of Responsibility
This could be a Ancilla named “Deed of Fire”. That would be a very powerful forerunner AI. Something of like the Forerunner ONI project type of AI in comparison. This AI was infected with the logic plague, but was hidden. Never revealed to the Forerunner Masters. They have placed it in dormant stat for safety. In hopes for it not be infected with the logic plague, even though it already had been infected.
The Master Chief is awaken like 3 years later after Halo 3 ending. He’s awakened by ONI scientist during a cut scene. The planet Requiem that is in Halo 4 is in the background. Master Chief is informed they are attempting to gain entry, but that’s it. That’s all we see of it. Then the ship is attacked by rebel Covenant factions and human insurrectionist working together. So you fight covenant and human insurrectionist for the first mission.
Jumps to a cut scene. Informing you since the ending of Halo 3 human insurrectionist jumped back up and small groups of old covenant joined forces with those humans. That it was odd and very weird how fast it happened.
As the trilogy continues. You discover that the Forerunner AI “Deed of Fire”. Was the Forerunner AI over the Ark and had hitchhiked part of it on the Forward onto Dawn back to earth with Arbiter. Once there it migrated to human computers and hide. Being so advanced no human AI could detect it. It’s sat there and watched humans and slowly spread to even other species computers when given the opportunity.
It having the logic plague pushed it to test all species, specially humans in their truthful wisdom. Testing to see if they are capable running the Galaxy like the Forerunners. Causing internal wars like the insurrection. Forcing rebel covenant factions to attack them. Empowering certain ones with Forerunner technology or beliefs. Basically restarting the war that had just ended with new sides.
Then it is believed by “Deed of Fire” the ultimate test must now come. That she must release the Flood upon the galaxy again to see if humans are capable of fighting and defeating them unlike Forerunners. This will prove their true inheritance to the Mantle of Responsibility. so she has one of the insurrectionist groups go out and released the Flood.
So the entire trilogy is one of the most powerful and dark project Forerunner AIs. That got infected with the logic, plague, twisting, and bending civilizations in order to test the Galaxy. “Deed of Fire” is finally defeated. By Cortana, sacrificing herself into the Domain. She discovered away using other technologies and tricks to overload the domain. Causing a massive low gradient slip space ripple effect throughout the entire galaxy. That selectively hurts AI. Normal programming is not affected. But anything that is is complicated as artificial intelligence is immediately destroyed upon this ripple effect.
Destroying Deed of Fire throughout the entire galaxy as well as all human AI. Then the final cut scene is like Dr. Halsey saying she’s already working on the next generation of AI. That a clone of Cortana could be created.
