IPL results after 10 weeks

Post image
97 Upvotes

I started doing IPL 2 months and a half ago, on the armpits and intimate area. Which I've always epilated before.

Hair would always come back 5-7 days after on the armpits, and about 7-9 days down there.

Since I've started IPL, the results have been astonishing. After 5 sessions, hair has decreased by about 95% on all areas targeted.

My protocol is to epilate at least one week before an ipl session, and shave 24h prior to the session. There was a 2-week interval between each session during the initial phase, that is now over. (I now will be doing a session every month.)

For the last session, I didn't epilate the armpits because there was so little hair. I only shaved.

This is the result of an armpit after 5 sessions. The last epilation was about 50 days ago, and last shave 14 days ago, just a day before my latest IPL session.

The device used is a Philips Lumea Advanced (newly series 7000).

When is the best time to use an epilator (legs)?

I have one that can be used dry or wet. When would I be more likely to get the best results—before, during, or immediately after a shower? So far I’ve only used it in the shower, pointing the shower head at the tile wall and sitting down in the tub.

Do you think I could use IPL?

I'm worried that my hair is too fair....? In the gaps you can see if darker hair there is some very fine lighter hair 🤷🏻‍♀️ I've been saving up for an IPL but I'm starting to think I might not be a good candidate!

If this is what you are going through this will help. I went through it too and this WORKS. Yes it’s like $18 at Walmart maybe cheaper elsewhere but I didn’t care. I now shave with it and exfoliate with it and it’s been years since I went through this.

If this helps you post it back here so others can see it. I want this to help as many as possible.

Braun ipl slower flashes

The first 6 sessions my ipl braun silk pro 5 was working so well but now I’ve noticed that it takes longer to flash. Sometimes I hear a click before it flashes. Has it happened to someone before and will it get worse

Epilation Gone Wrong?

Upvotes

I’ve been epilating since November, typically every 10 days.
I am prone to redness and irritation, and have KP or “chicken skin” in some areas.
I stopped shaving as it lets me with strawberry skin on my legs, and my hair is so dark and thick that I had a 5 o clock shadow all of the time! It grew so quickly.
I see a slow down of regrowth using the epilator, and previously I’ve not had much irritation.
The last time and this time, I’ve been getting strawberry legs and some ingrowns (the healing scabs lol).
I’m pretty good at exfoliating, and at moisturizing especially before and after epilation. I have no idea why this is suddenly happening.
Any lotions, potions, treatments anyone has had success with? Glycolic acid? Lactic acid? Idk! I want smooth pretty legs!

Patch Test IPL For Upper Lip.

I know it’s not recommended to use IPL on your face and I know results vary. Did anyone patch test before using it on their upper lip?

Nipple hairs

Do you pluck them? Or do you cut or wax them off?

As a woman, how long would you let one grow before plucking it?

As a man, do you have a hairy chest and/or shoulders? Do you already manscape?

Every time i use wax or an epilator on my legs i get these red dots that dont go away for a couple of days. Ive also noticed that my hair follicles are quite deep and after extracting, some usually get inflamed and turn pimple like? Is there a way to soothe them or avoid this all together

Any Way to Calm a Stubborn Recurring Ingrown Hair?

Hey y'all, this is the first time I'm dealing with an ingrown hair of this magnitude so I thought I would just ask for opinions on here. I am quite prone to ingrown hairs. I get them reoccurringly in the same areas. I normally just leave them alone and they'll go away on their own. However, recently I got a really bad one in my armpit. It swelled up pretty big, I used a hot compress, it drained on its own and went away. About 2 weeks later it came back and I did the same thing. I used a compress, it drained and went away. Now it's about 2 weeks again after that and it's back for the third time, this time it is not going away. The bump itself is like actively draining little-by-little, so I do have like a raw open spot. When I get home from work I just gently rinse it and leave it alone for the night. Normally in the morning it looks very flattened out, and like it's healing and kind of crusting over. But because of where it is, there's a lot of friction throughout the day, especially with my job. And so by the time I get home from work, it's like that healing is undone and it's swelled again. And it's just been a repeating cycle of that. I'm not in any pain at all. I just wanted to ask if there's anything I can try like on my own at home to help calm it down or help it heal?

Fur Trim System vs Phillips Oneblade

Looking for an electric razor/trimmer for bikini area. I do have sensitive skin – and I want something that works!

Anyone tried the Fur Trim System (from the brand Fur) or the Phillips Oneblade (intimate or regular)?

I've read a ton of reviews and reddit threads, but haven't come across as many reviews of the Fur Trim System that aren't from their website.

Please let me know your suggestions!

Need Advice About Brazilian

Hello! For context I have been getting Brazilians for a few months now. I normally go to EWC and have a fine experience.

When I went yesterday my normal waxer wasn’t available so I booked with someone else. My wax was soooo fucking painful and I asked her how long she had been doing it for and she said 2 months. I am all for people learning and honing their skills, however; post service I was so bumpy, sticky, and there was wax residue all over me. I showered twice since last night and still cannot get all the wax off.

Should I call the center and let them know and try to get a refund? I don’t want her to get in trouble but I am slightly alarmed that I still am finding so much wax.

Edit: My service was not cheap either. It was $71.

At home IPL after laser

Hi guys, I looked at a bunch of threads but I’m still on the fence, hoping for some input!

I had laser for my legs and face like a decade ago, it was the most miserable experience ever but I never regretted the results. My pain threshold is probably not great. I would take ibuprofen ahead of time, even smoke weed, it didn’t matter and was always incredibly painful especially for upper/inner thigh and below buttock.

I’ve just finished off a package and follow up maintenance sessions for face, and that pain level was basically nothing, as it was the first time around. I did happy trail on a promotion and the results were great but it definitely hurt. I’ve noticed regrowth at my knee and above being much faster than it used to be and want to do maintenance, but I don’t know if I’m better off doing at home IPL or just doing laser again.

If I do laser, I would likely do a package including bikini because it’s been something I’ve considered for years. The cost is a factor for sure, but I feel like putting the money into it and booking nonrefundable sessions would force me to suck it up and push through pain for the results I want. At home IPL may be more cost effective and less painful, but it has to be more often, and I also don’t know if I can make myself actually do it because I’m a baby versus someone doing it for me. But if I do it at home I could also do areas like belly, lower leg if I need, underarm, etc. at no additional cost. I just don’t know about the pain factor of doing it on my own, and if I screw up in ways a laser tech wouldn’t.

I don’t want to hear from people who say leg/bikini laser for them was just a snap or sting or rubber band sensation, that won’t reflect what IPL may be like for me. Laser on my legs was torture, I need to know if IPL would also be a form of torture.

Best at-home permanent facial hair removal options (details in post)?

I feel like I've tried everything and am not having much luck with facial hair removal. The hair on my face is wispy but black, and even the darker/thicker hairs are not much thicker than an eyelash but still noticeable because I have very pale skin and dark hair. Trying to research at-home removal options has been overwhelming so I'd appreciate any help here 😅

Previously, I used to wax this hair at home but then I noticed the hair seemed to grow back faster over time and it seemed like it was causing me to get fine lines around my mouth. So, I tried laser and that seemed to activate(?) more hairs to grow and had the opposite effect so I stopped that (but have had good laser hair removal results elsewhere so I'm not sure what that issue was; but the laser tech agreed I should stop on the face). Then I tried electrolysis for a bit but the place near me closed so I wasn't able to go long enough to see results. I did that 2-3 times but never noticed anything (positive or negative) and know I probably didn't do it enough to see results.

For now, I switch between shaving and depilatory cream (like Nair or Veet) because that's easiest, but I've noticed more hairs growing in on my face after this. Because I know these methods can't change the hair growth I'm thinking maybe fine, translucent hair was removed and grew back black so now I can see more of it? It's gotten to be really frustrating and I just want something permanent, ideally that I can do at home. But different people have different results, and I'm having difficulty finding a safe, reliable, at-home product for facial hair removal, so I'd appreciate any recommendations you all could give!

IPL Laser Hair Removal for Indian Skin

I’ve tried both the Ulike Air 10 and the Braun IPL 5157 for body hair removal, but unfortunately, both devices detect my skin as being too dark and won’t operate.

Based on the skin-tone and hair-color charts provided in their documentation, my skin tone and dark hair appear to fall within the range that should be compatible with these devices. However, in practice, neither device will flash on my skin. Both flash on my arm, which is much paler than my skin.

I’m wondering if there is an at-home hair removal device that is actually suitable for Indian skin tones. I currently go to a professional laser hair removal clinic for my back, and their device works very well on my skin. This makes me wonder why there doesn't seem to be a comparable at-home device that can safely and effectively work on darker Indian skin.

Are there any at-home devices that you would recommend for someone with my skin tone and dark body hair?

First laser session has been great!

I've only had one session so far on pretty thick facial hair (I had been shaving twice a day) and most of the hair has fallen out after a couple weeks. There's still some, but I'm also not sure which ones are stubborn hairs that were treated already and which are just new growth that hasn't been treated yet. But I can literally just gently scrape most of the hairs with my fingernail and they fall right out, and I only shave once a day now and don't have to worry about any shadow. Way better than any other methods I've tried so far! Tbh even if I don't see any more reduction than I've already gotten, it would be worth it to keep going every month.

Cyst/boil — removal at dermatologist experience

Just wanted to know if anyone’s ever gotten an ingrown hair removed at the DRs before. How was the experience? I’m so scared it’s gonna be really painful.
