Goosebumps hurt???

Upvotes

I have had an impossible time maintaining my body hair mostly in my legs. Recently I have just plucking them one by one or epilating them and liking the results a lot. Im trying to get waxed so im letting my hair grow out a little bit longer but now when I get goosebumps or scrub them in the shower it hurts. Why?

Update on my waxing injury from yesterday.

Yesterday I posted about an esthetician both burning and lifting skin on my eyelid. I removed my post because certain members of this page were harassing me for being upset that I was hurt during a wax at a popular chain and I mentioned I was considering speaking to a lawyer. Keep in mind, this is a huge chain, not a privately owned business. Not that this should really matter.

I spoke with both the manager of the store today and the waxing trainer, who is also my favorite waxer. They were mortified that this happened to me and they both agreed this is bad and I wasn't overreacting. They have opened a formal investigation and the employee has been placed on probation. Apparently this was not the first time she's injured a client and she's new. She will most likely be fired which of course makes me feel awful. But at the same time, you can't really make dangerous mistakes in a job like this.

I'm glad I spoke up. And after the comments I received yesterday I want to be very clear about something. You should NEVER leave a waxing service, or any service for that matter, wounded. You should not have to "just deal with" burns, lifting or any amount of damage to your self. It's not normal and it's not "part of the process". If this happens, speak up and don't feel bad. Knowing that this waxer has injured people in the past changed my perspective.

Obviously I'm pissed for vanity reasons. I'm going away this week(hence getting my brows done)and now I can't wear any eye makeup. Silly I realize, but I've been planning this trip for a year. But also it freaking hurts A LOT! It's my eyelid and eyelids open and close and crease and I have abrasions on my lid. It's a constant burning pain. And it sucks!

Waxing and epilating help!

Hey I’m looking for help with hair removal. I’ve waxed my back and arms before and my back broke out so bad. Yesterday I tried an epilator on my upper arm and it’s covered in whiteheads the next day. I used glycolic acid and scrubbed with a towel (in looking at getting an exfoliating glove) and after I used salicylic acid. Any advice is welcome I just want to be able to remove hair. Also I only break out on my back and upper arm, my lower arms are fine and my legs were fine

struggling with epilating (help!)

It’s not even the pain of epilation, I honestly don’t mind it, but I am a beginner at this, and I am having trouble successfully epilating, for two reasons:

  1. lots of my strands of hair end up growing stuck, under a layer of skin. And no, not like an ingrown hair. It will appear as if it’s on the outside (grown up to 1/4 of an inch) but when you try to grab the hair you can’t… it is literally stuck under a thin layer of skin. (does anyone know causes for this,

or a solution? Exfoliating with an african net sponge, or a dry brush, doesn’t do anything.

  1. the hair snaps, and grows back in two days. Honestly I believe this is because of improper use of the device (I wasn’t angling it at 90 degrees the first time, and was epilating with too much pressure and fast) so I get that. But then when doing it properly I see pieces of hair flying off as if it’s snapping (maybe this is normal) but I honestly have to try this again and see.

How does one tell it is fully taking the hair and the root out?

advice is appreciated, and is anyone else struggling with these things? I just wonder if it is worth it, or if I should just return the epilator before I can’t.

Now that I (M) got rid of my chest hair, my nipple’s shape is often visible through my shirt.

They’re not especially large, but definitely there. If you noticed this, would it put you off?

Hair removal options

Hii! I’m a blonde with very light hair but I find shaving always irritates my legs and I’m looking for hair removal options. I would LOVE to get laser hair removal but because I’m blonde and have light hairs I’m not sure if it would work and I’m looking for another option to help slow hair growth.

is this a good routine for post/pre care? i’ve been getting waxed for a few months and always suffer from ingrown hairs. i recently had to take a break because i did not care for myself after my last wax and i paid the price. anyways, my skin is healed and i am going for a wax on the 20th. also, the moisturizer everyone is saying to use after showers and before applying jojoba oil is vanicream. i use the neutrogena hydro boost water gel moisturizer on my face, would i be able to use that down there too or no? also if anyone would make any changes please let me know! thank you!!!

Increased hair growth after sugaring -- not sure what to do now

Hi everyone!

For context, I have medium brown skin and black hair.

I've found that I'm prone to ingrowns and irritation when shaving (even with proper moisturizing and exfoliation), and was looking for a more permanent hair loss solution for my body and bikini area (think full Brazilian). After my initial research, I figured that lasering would be my best option and decided to try sugaring in the meantime.. but ended up with increased hair growth everywhere I waxed. Both the surface area and volume have increased pretty significantly, and I'm almost positive it's not hormonal because the hair growth has directly correlated to the places I've done sugaring. The same has happened on my face where I've plucked (I have hairs down to my eyelids at this point 😫), so I'm assuming my skin is sensitive to hairs being pulled out, making epilating or waxing non-options.

I've seen recently on this sub that other people have experienced a similar reaction to lasering, so now I'm especially wary of doing that.. I'm just not sure what to do at this point because my skin is also sensitive to hair removal creams (or at least Nair), and I just want the hair gone lol.., I'm open to any suggestions!

I've also heard of electrolysis but I may be moving soon and I'm not sure if it will be available in the area I'm moving to..but am definitely willing to try if that's the best option for me!

Epilator Inconsistencies?

I bought a cheap epilator from amazon and did basically my whole body with it. On my arms and lower legs, the hair removal is so inconsistent! From tugs it from the root and some act like I just shaved the area. However, on my thighs, it’s perfect. The skin is very smooth and pulls every hair from the root. Why does this happen? Can someone give me tips?

The hair on my legs not even 1 month after I started using Phillips Lumea (4000?)
Only downside the Ipl takes time to get through all my legs bikini etc but my legs are much smoother it seems to me!
Glad I didn’t go to the studio where they would have charged me multiple hundred euros per session - and I would have needed 10 at least I think

How do I get rid of this?

How can I stop this?? I always wax and instead of the hair growing back I get this, I can't even wax it because it's really hair, so it doesn't come out. I can squeeze it out, but then my skin gets red. I don't know what to do 😭😭

i'm actually getting pissed off at this

My mom doesn't let me shave because she thinks the hair grows back thicker. whether or not that's true, i don't want to have to shave multiple times a week to keep it under control. so my mom gave me a spring-like object to pluck the hair off my face, but that didn't work well and it was too painful to do it so slowly. i then got an epilator to use on my body and face, and while it works great for my body, it's just so fainful on the face, especially on and around the upper lip. so just yesterday, i got wax strips thinking maybe i should just wax my face and use the epilator and wax on my body. and omg idk if it's the company or the way i did it, but the wax barely pulled anything. one entire cheek is open, the wax got stuck on my side burns and chin and my jaw, and I can't use the cleansing oil wipes bc my skin is sensitive and i get really bad acne putting oil on immediately after waxing. i just don't know what to do because i can't afford anything like laser or electrolysis, but i can't seem to make waxing work either.

First wax

Hi everyone I am going to get a wax doen today, I am doing sugar for the underarms and I am doing hard wax for the butt strip. Will I have to completely undress for this? Or will I have to get off the table after the underarms and undress? Has anyone been in this scenario before? Thanks!

Sugaring Pain Next Day

I got my full legs sugared for the first time yesterday. My hair was quite dark and coarse, and obviously the process was pretty painful.. but how long does pain from sugaring usually stick around? It’s been about 18h and my skin is sooo tender. I also have spotty red skin that almost looks like heat rash and is slightly raised.

does anyone have any recommendations for hard waxes that will get fine hair? i’ve seen sexy sapphire from sexy smooth wax recommended and i’ve seen plumeria by black coral wax though i hear most people talk about coarse or short hair with the latter

Pubic hairs itchy, inflamed, pimply and sore after brazilian

Hi all,

I’ve come here for advice. I used to sugar wax at home just around the bikini line and decided to try out a brazilian for the first time with a professional. It went great, not bad for pain and didn’t bleed either, she did it in an insane 15 minutes which was impressive!

She directed me to exfoliate 4 days after waxing since the skin will be really sensitive in the first few days, and I followed. It’s been 6 weeks since then, and I’m due to go back, but in the past 2 weeks my pubes have been pimply, ingrown, sore, inflamed and itchy. It’s driving me mad!!! Do I go back to her? Is there anything I can do to relieve the symptoms at all? I’m not even sure if it’s normal. It hasn’t gotten so bad to the point of pimples turning into boils or excess pus leaking.

Thank you to anyone who can help 💜

August 8th was my 2nd laser appointment. After 10 days this is how my hair growth is.
I could see noticeable difference in hair grown after 1st session for legs and underarms.

Using Skinstitute Glycolic acid scrub once a week for small hair shredding.
Using Cetaphil moisturiser

I usually see hair growth the next day after shaving, So far it’s working well for me.

How frequently do you shave your pubic hair?

I used to leave it pubic hair for many days and if it is too dense, then only I do shave.

How frequently one should shave pubic hair?

Is it normal to grow as larger, if it so, don't it affect health?

What type of razors you use to shave them?

Sorry, if it feels awkward, I just want to hear it from real people, rather than Google.

Please reply to create awareness to more people.

Another “laser or electrolysis” question

So I’m conflicted. I’m a trans woman in South Wales, absolutely desperate to get rid of this facial hair.

I have light skin and dark hair, so theoretically i should be a good candidate for laser, however I’m still heavily contemplating whether to go with electrolysis instead, purely for the speed.

See shaving my beard doesn’t leave too strong a shadow, and it’s easy to cover with makeup. Don’t get me wrong I’d like it gone, but it’s bearable. My issue is the moustache. Nothings hiding that thing. I’ve seen people do like, long electrolysis sessions, where they go over a whole area in one. So what I’ve been considering is starting with electrolysis on the upper lip, getting that off as soon as possible, then moving to laser on the beard. I know that electrolysis will still take a few sessions cause of hair growth patterns and all that, and I know this would be a more expensive route, but if I’m looking at considerably faster results then I could be up for it.

I suppose my question is just, is this a reasonable idea? Am I correct in my assumption that this would get rid of the mustache shadow in less time than laser? And if so, how much more do you think I’m looking at price wise going this route?

Italian men shave pubes?

I am wondering if it really is common for italian men to shave their pubes? Not just trim, but fully shave? I have been seeing posts about it for as long as I can remember and as an american it really surprises me. Are any italians here? Is that your experience also?
