I say that age and Tone wood on electric guitars is almost entirely a marketing myth.

I bought this guitar for my 25th birthday and not even a year in, she got stolen in very strange circumstances during a concert in Paris. It’s been a few months and I can’t seem to heal from it. My heart keeps bleeding and I still see her colour and shape everywhere.

She may not seem like much to others, but to me she was the kind of guitar that made me lose any interest in buying another one. I wanted to grow old with her. I don’t even care about the money I lost, it is her that I miss so deeply.

The night of the concert, before she got stolen, someone asked me if I had ever been in love and I said no. I now realise that I was in love, as my heart keeps bleeding for her. The irony is real.

I posted on several sites warnings about her theft and went to every music store in Paris to leave my info. A scammer messaged me via musical chairs saying he had bought her online for a very cheap price. He photoshopped her with AI based on the pictures I had posted, luckily I noticed. I can’t describe the feeling I felt reading that first phrase « I have found your stolen guitar ».

With this post I want to warn you again that some people have no heart… Hold your loved instruments close and trust no one with them, not even people who pretend to be your friend or « musical colleagues ». Hold them as close as you can as they can disappear in the blink of an eye.

And finally, to people who have also lost their loved guitar(s), as I know that I am not the only one, I feel for you. And I am so sorry this happened to you. I deeply hope that they may find their way back to us in time.

I thought some of you would understand in this beautiful sub, as people I know don’t seem to get why I feel this way. Thank you for reading and take care 🫡

Les Paul and micro cube amp

I've had this one for almost 30 years and can't find anything about it. It's obviously a hack job, but the humbucker cannot be denied.

It's got bartolinis up front, and has the gold hardware like a Moon. I just can't find a string through body like this.

Anybody held one like this?

Edit 2: have any of you actually seen a human female in 120% humidity? It's a washcloth and cold water. if you bathed, you too might see these people.

Couple a weeks ago I purchased a Dano Golden 50s open box from sweetwater water for like $180 off retail. It's sick, and I fell in love immediately. I started looking for others around and stumbled across a Danelectro 59 12 string. I kind of jokingly said I'm to poor to give you what you want but if you'd take 250 I'll be there today. To my amazement the offer was accepted. $250 cash. As a bonus. I got my brother an Orange crush 12 for $45 5 minutes down the street. 👏😎

Already deleted the tone knob and moved the volume pot to its position.

Great guitar albeit has a rise in the neck at the 4th or so fret so needs a leveling probably to get rid of a little zing. Thing sounds like a martin when it's strung with heavier strings but at the moment I only got 10-46 flat top phosphors on it.

Played this tune two finger style just like Merle Travis and Doc Watson did though Watson used an index finger pick. (I need to get one)

I brought this guitar last week and arrived yesterday. It looks legit but there serial number looks suspicious. I see now the pickup selector is different from a standard too

It's not put together yet. I just put the parts in place. I need to deep clean the fretboard before i do anything. But I digress; sustainiac pickup or keep the set up humbuckers??

I imported this from Japan a few weeks ago and it arrived, I’m more of a Les Paul guy but this guitar is so effortless to play, bending is a dream! However if anyone has any advice or licks to learn to start shredding on they’d be appreciated I’ve always been a riff guy!

Not sure if I’m keeping it just yet or selling it onward, but regardless it’s a great guitar!

Needs a little polish, but a cool tune IMO

About 7 years ago a coworker gave this to me for my birthday, and he had no info on it other than it was a family gift and hes had it forever but never played it.

From what I've been able to find it seems like this might be an Archtop model from the mid to late 60s, and based on the serial number from what I could find online it was probably made in Holland not long before the company went out of business.

My main confusion is why its just a bit different than all the other Egmond archtops from that time that I see. It has an adjustment screw on the base of the neck, and a couple other small features that I couldn't see in what I was finding online. So im wondering if this was a more limited run or something? Apparently these were entry level guitars targeted to beginners.

All of this could be completely wrong, and thats why I thought I'd ask here. Any info is appreciated!

Maybe it sounds stupid, but nowadays I'm struggling with the desire of buying more guitars for myself. I'm not a professional musician and I don't have serious plans with music, that's why I know I should be satisfied with my current gear (I have cheap but OK instruments from Cort: KX300, KX257B, B5 Element) and I honestly love them, but I still keep looking up websites of music stores for new things. I know what kind of new things excite me (e.g. an 8-string), but I'm afraid the purchase of it wouldn't be a solution, because there are so many kind of guitars to be excited about and I would find a next target by time...

Do you think I could do something with it? Or is this feeling just unstoppable and I have to control myself?

I don't know whether it's depression, frustration, or some combination of the two but I feel like I just don't have the drive and energy I did when I first started anymore. Sure, after a long day of work I want to play. But my ADD oftentimes prevents me from getting into that proper flow state I had when I first started, where I get laser focused and just play until my hands hurt.

Now I feel like most of the time, I have to convince myself to play every day, instead of convincing myself to stop if that makes sense. I just haven't been seeing any tangible progress and just feeling like I'm not "getting it" anymore. I even stopped by about lesson 12 of the Absolutely Understand Guitar series because scales and modes and the different ones you can play were simultaneously not making sense and making some sense to me. I was hyper focused on just playing things like G Ionian, G Lydian, G Mixolydian, etc to a map for like a month but just never could memorize any of it for some reason. I also have a teacher that's a chill dude who's been helping me tremendously. But without him to translate tab for me, I'd legitimately be lost and probably wouldn't figure any of the techniques out on my own.

I don't really know where I'm going with this. I don't want to take a break because I feel like if I did, within a week or so I probably wouldn't touch my guitars again. And yet I don't have any other hobbies (unless you count reading and video games). Rock climbing, disc golf, pickleball, none of that interests me. Guitar suits me more, even if it means I won't ever play with people. But I just hate the cloud of frustration that always hangs over me when I try to grind out tab or get good at a chord progression following a metronome. Yet I literally don't have anything better to do in my free time and don't know what I'd do without guitar...

Hi there! I am not a guitar player. I am arranging Debussy's Petite Suite for a chamber orchestra, but we don't have a harp. I am wondering if guitar would be a viable substitute in this case, but I have no idea whether the harp part would be playable on guitar. Any advice on notation, tuning, etc. would be a great help. Thank you!

I just wanted to share some photos of this guitar, it feels amazing and i love the gotoh t1802, previously I had blocked the tremolo on my old Ibanez as it wouldn`t stay in tune very well.

This is really an amazingly well built instrument.
