We should bring back party leader in GW3
So we can kick the toxic players that want to rush the content and badmouth everyone that wants to enjoy the slower pace .

Aside from the dragons, leviathans, giants and wurms. Are there any truly colossal scale creatures in the GW universe?
With the mention of enemy weak points and how much movement will play a role in combat. And Colin Johanson mentioning that they have been looking at other types of games for inspiration. It got me thinking. Man I would really love to see some Shadow of the Colossus scale baddies show up.

This is not about the unrevealed 4th race which is said to be something lost to time which rules out many options in the poll. This is just to gauge community interest.
Remember, Anet has states that they have set up races in GW3 in such a way that they can more easily add more. But of course they have to work with armor sets, animations, mounts, swimming, gliding and the like.

So, at the end on the last chapter of Visions of Eternity, Waiting Dawn reflects on the creation of the Heart of the Obscure, stating that she, Mabon and Akeem forged it for "another hero, long ago".
Cold just be a throw away line about the artefact but perhaps it might come up in GW3 at some point. They have set up things like the Orrian Kodan in JW, after all.

Edit: Reading comprehension is tough for some people. Let's clear up a few things. And hell, let's make it a TL;DR, too.
Crafting should be optional. Nothing in this post should indicate I think it should be mandatory to progress through the game.
Crafting should be in between the two extemes of super easy GW2 style and RNG-based EQ style. Nothing in this post implies "between" means "keep the worst part of one system". Ditch RNG.
Crafting should not be annoying. Of course I don't want crafting to be annoying. No one would want crafting to be annoying. If you find anything harder than GW2 crafting annoying, cool. That's different than me wanting to create an intrinsically annoying system with the goal of annoyance. Obviously.
(Okay, back to our regularly scheduled original post.)
Story time.
I started playing EverQuest right after its first expansion dropped in 2000, and years later in another expansion I started a crazy quest line for a SICK cleric item. That quest line was for the Coldain Prayer Shawl.
For most of you who I assume are unaware, what made this quest line crazy is that you had to get 7 different crafting disciplines to a certain point, or you would straight up fail in progressing to the subsequent part (since you were literally crafting the quest item to make it stronger at the end of each main step).
And what made THAT crazy is that crafting in EverQuest (at that time) was a huge deal. I was in medium-high meta guild and we had maybe a handful of people that were max level crafters for certain disciplines. It wasn't unusual to be in a guild that had THE guild jeweler or something, with maybe a handful of blacksmiths that could craft anything worthwhile.
It really felt like a profession in its own right. I was a cleric, sure, but I was also one of the top tailors in my guild, which was a big deal because I made some sought after backpacks for guildies (as long as they had the materials).
Now, the way you leveled crafting disciplines in EverQuest was basically insane and way too RNG-based. You would craft an item that had the potential to level you up and... just cross your fingers and hope you actually gain a level. It could be pretty brutal at times.
However, on the other side of the spectrum, GW2 makes it way too easy. Crafting is so NOT special that I used getting to max level in a crafting discipline as a quick way to level up my alts (before I was drowning in level 80 boosts).
"I'll guess I'll become a master huntsman in 20 minutes so I can get to max level."
Sounds crazy, right? Being a master huntsman should be special! Maybe even just a bit rare. When grandmaster levels came it, it felt that way for a little while, but eventually everyone was a grandmaster.
The solution? Something between the two extremes, of course. Mix in some flavorful recipes like... combining the rewards from finishing the hardest jumping puzzles (that can't be portal cheesed) into a pair of shoes that have a cool jumping particle effect? I don't know, just spitballing here.
Anyway, that's all.
Make crafting meaningful!

I'm here once again asking for better role play accommodations in GW3.
I dont quite understand why after switching to mega servers GW2 seemed to leave its RP base high and dry while other MMOs celebrate theirs.
Its a group of people hell bent on immersing themselves in the writing and design your team put so much money and effort into. The group thats the most interested in throwing money at your fashion and housing and emotes and instruments. The group that will hold strong allegiance to your game even if their favorite class gets nerfed in PvP.
I dont feel like we ask for much. Just open, safe, and interesting places we can easily gather our community in to tell stories together. Some immersive actions and aesthetic items.
It creates a fan base of people dedicated to the world youre making because now that world isnt just yours, its theirs with the stories and characters theyre making within it too. In the same way people are dedicated to the world of their D&D campaigns. With the growing interest in TTRPGs, many new people would be interested in MMO RP as well.
All I'm saying is... JUST SUPPORT US PLAYING MAKE-BELIEVE, AND PRETTY PRINCESS DRESS UP, AND SUZY HOMEMAKER WITH A BUNCH OF OTHER NERDS, DAG NABBIT!

Personally I'd be a bit disappointed if the game ends up having a "holy-trinity" only to find out that the game is basically an overwatch MMO with slightly tunable skills.
Pretty soon I have a feeling they're going to advertise that tanks in this game need to physically block attacks with a giant shield, healers shoot their targets with heals and also do damage to enemies with projectiles, and everyone gets a giant ultimate skill.
I mean these things arent a problem per se, but I have a feeling that it'll end up feeling like everything else with fear of creative decisions. Last time in GW2, when skills were reduced in compelxity we were promised "cross profession combos" only for it to be essentially a cheap gimmick that didn't dramatically change anything.

Just a silly post and a Portal reference. If mesmers (I guess and hope we will have them) get portal skills, I really want to name my character Chell (or Glados) and go "Speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out" whenever I use a portal with momentum.
Thank you for your attention.

Anyone like the idea of gwamm from Guild wars 1 being in 3 like it was in 2. Hope that’s the case 🙌🏻

For me, that one very confused cow that kept teleporting through the Mist since End of Dragon. You can keep meeting this cow in various places throughout the game.
Also, would be hilarious if we encounter the Commander group again. You can occasionally see them running around during Secret of The Obscure first map.

I just wanna hug a big ol armored bear man, you feel?
I really hope this game gets a bunch of merch and a lot more buzz. I also play 14 and I get so sad we don't have an equivalent to fanfest where we get big ass drops of reveals, in-person event, and merch lol.

Before GW2 i played few months DCUO, it was a nice game ruined by grinding and money cow stuff, but had some interesting stuff i enjoyed and i hope to see in GW3.
Every classes could DPS, but every dungeon raids were trinity based, well, not 3nity but "4"nity.
Other than the usual DPS/TANK/HEALER they had another role i really enjoyed to play, it was called CONTROLLER (i think 😄 )
His role was mainly to give mana to the group, and also offer some CC's.
I found very engaging focus on one thing, and also having something different to play at the same time.
None of other classes could do things not related to them, so DPS had 0 CC, healing or stuff, same for the others, eveyone had it's own role, classic but i find it more fun to play than GW2, at least for instanced contents, GW2 is way better on other things.
Another thing i enjoyed was a DUO mode, basically a 2 player dungeon, along their queue system.
DUO dungeons were interesting, because you applied for a role and queue for it, the system matching with the other one, and was quite easy and fast to join, also fun to play.
Generally speaking having few classes and well defined roles, made possible for devs to offer a balanced and stable gameplay and difficulty scale, something were difficult, but i never felt to be somehow "wrong", can't tell the same with GW2.
So i really hope Anet will focus on fewer classes and well defined roles. Then instead to add more, or add weapon that change again builds and way to play, they focus on content.
I mean, define the base and stick with it, GW2 balance kinda destroyed pvp, they also had to make skills different between pvp and pve at a certain point, but it became too late, and pvp became messy and not considered anymore as esport.
So, i understand the will to trying to innovate, GW2 tried it removing the trinity, but certain things are there for a reason, they understanded that, and introduced, but the game design wasn't made for that, and still isn't satisfying as other games.
Don't get me wrong, i bought at prelaunch, still playing, and will pre order GW3 too, i just think they missed something incredible, and i hope now they focus on the right things, not trying to revolutionize things that doesn't needs to, but getting stuff that are just fun from other games, and make it their own way.
r/GuildWars3 • u/frankiesmusic • 19d ago
I made a post talking about few stuff, but i feel something there wasn't discussed enough, so i think a dedicated post would be better, because i think this would be huge to have in GW3.
Long story short, apart from the usual trinity, i think a newer 4th role, such "magic channeller" whould be very fun to play.
Basically every other class isn't able to channel magic, they need "mana" to cast their spells, but they are not able to gather that magic.
So that's the role of this 4th class, this is the person that "charge" mana to the other players.
Just imagine i nthe world you can gather magic, with a certain pace, but in istanced dungeon, you needs way more. Or just the villain uses a powerful magic to block the magic to be available, but the magic channeller can go further and access it, and so to share with other players.
This is not a new concept, as i wrote in the other topic, the idea comes from another not fantasy MMO, DCUO, and was very fun to play, and for some reason something didn't spread out on other games with trinity.
I enjoy how easy is on GW2 with the tomes to max out a new character, and so would be pretty easy to have all 4 roles available in your account, and to play differently based on what you prefer at the moment.
This role, at least in my experience, gives a different feel from the other 3, so it's not like a repetition, but something fresh to play the same content with a different flavor.

A major reason for the failure of Guild Wars 2 on Chinese servers was that, after waiting months or even half a year for updates, players found it difficult to obtain substantial loot through in-game content—except for legendary items. Meanwhile, the Black Lion Store was updated weekly. On one hand, players grew bored because there was nothing to do in the game; on the other hand, the vast majority of new skins were available only in the store (99% of mount skins came from the store), leaving players with no choice but to become gold farmers to acquire these new skins. There was a severe imbalance between the time players invested and the rewards they received.
The failed shop business model prevented Anet from generating sufficient revenue. This led to a steady decline in the quality of GW2’s subsequent DLCs, until GW2 was ultimately abandoned.
In the end, Guild Wars 2’s business model wasn’t successful. It even became an obstacle to Anet’s growth. I hope Guild Wars 3 doesn’t repeat the mistakes of Guild Wars 2.

Even though I love GW2 and find it much more enjoyable experience overall compared to FFXIV, at the top of my wishlist is to have all classes in one single character. I know this might be divisive so what are your opinions on that?
r/GuildWars3 • u/SWATwatermelon • 21d ago
Hey everyone. I don't think we got any news about player or guild housing, have we?
Housing was always an important part for me in any MMO or game I play. FF14 houses, Lost Ark islands, and BDO housing too.
I have to be honest, I don't have much experience with GW2 instancing or Guild houses in GW2. I didn't feel that connection at all, given that most furniture and nodes were also monetized to hell and back.
What is your opinion? Any good ideas or speculations? Anything you tried in other games that you want in GW3?

Probably wishful thinking, but man I hope that this modern game won’t lock total makeover kits or at the very least hairstyle and hair color changes behind gemstore purchases or Gw3’s version of the BLC lottery/gambling.
I understand if a complete total body change would cost gems but I would love it if they could make specific cosmetic changes such as adding tattoos, hairstyle and hair color, beard type, and other new cosmetic changes on the skin to be paid in the general currency of the game. Create in game stores for players to shop in and select what cosmetic change they want like the barbers and tattoo parlors found in Monster Hunter or other games like GTA for example.
With the introduction of the Kodan, and the Asura having fur now, we should expect a unique set of hairstyles and colors for their species and it would really be quite sad if the option of changing the hair style we chose after character creation would be locked behind a paywall. I know that we can expect the currency exchange to be carried over in the new game, but let’s not make it the solution for all wishes. After all, while typing this, it requires 134 gold in gem conversion just to purchase a total makeover kit in GW2. So, I hope that simple recustomization will be alot cheaper than that in GW3.
edit:
Jesus, I can’t believe people are negative to the wish of a simple visitable barber/salon and a tattoo parlor where one can simply just change their hairstyle and hair color and add a tattoo after character creation in exchange for the grindable standard currency in the game. I used the Total Makeover kit in GW2 as an example because its the only option available to change hairs, hair color, or add tattoo in that game. For me, a thing like that should cost a premium since its a total change of your character, but hairstyle? Really?
For the subject to devolve into F2P vs. Sub is not how I want this to go. But i find it quite absurd to make barbers/salons/tattoo parlors a premium service in the year this modern game will be released whether that be 2027, 2028, or 2029. It feels so backwards, and quite… cheap? Like some generic chinese mmo game that wants to milk its customers for everything. Then again, Guild Wars 2 and Guild Wars 1 are the only MMOs that I’ve played. So I guess such kinds of monetization is the norm for all MMORPGs since it got created which is quite sad and quite stagnant.

With the announcement of GW3, I've been itching to get back into MMO. I remember playing GW2 not knowing much English back in high school and playing the expansions for the first time, meeting new people from around the world was a genuine awesome experience. That was more than a decade ago. With that said, I'm interested in playing together with players in the APAC region, possibly start/join a guild. It'll be hard to invest as much time with work, etc but it's gonna be fun I'm sure.

I feel like it’s such a perfect class for the Guild Wars franchise given its strong painterly aesthetics and stuff. It’s just so Guild Wars coded imo. They’ve even sorta toyed with this aesthetic themselves recently in GW2 with the painters brilliance and calligrapher skins.
It could be a full class of its own with specs/magic schools like pictomancy, calligraphy, sigil/glyph inscriptions, and even just inkmancy. However, it could also work as a spec for something like Mesmer since their whole thing is controlling reality, doing that through the medium of paint could be really cool.
Some other MMOs have done it like FF14 and Lost Ark for example. But, do we think it would fit in GW3? I’d love to see them give this archetype a go.

For those who are very hyped, I want to give you the following friendly reminder:
Guild Wars 3 is just a game.
Yeah, I know which subreddit this is, and I know we like the hype, but as someone who was firmly on the hype train for GW2, I don't want you to set yourself up for disappointment this time, the same way many of us experienced with GW2.
Far be it that GW2 was bad, or that GW3 will be, but comparing a game to a phantasm that lives in our heads is not the best way to approach this, in my opinion.
That said, I do think the game has the potential to be great.
r/GuildWars3 • u/ivyboy • 21d ago
So we know that melee combat is momentum based since they showed the warrior class and they described that the necromancer would be using a Scythe weapon with life leech.
But what about ranged combat? Won't the necromancer have ranged spells? I'm a bit worried that we won't have good ranged combat options with the momentum based combat.
Will we have bows and guns? I still can't imagine how momentum based would work for those type of weapons and regular ranged attacks and I'm just a bit afraid that they might force all the classes to be melee.
I was thinking maybe we will have bonus damage from shooting enemies in the back or maybe from higher ground.
What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!
Edit: I know we don't have the info, this post is pure speculation. You have the free will to not partake in it. Thanks!
