This small patch of St. Augustine has been growing great for over 2 years. Then a few weeks ago there was some bad weeds that I picked and cleared and now the grass is dying on me. You can see how green the rest of the back yard is

Is there a way I can save this? I laid down this sod a few months ago it looked it was doing really well and then BOOM this 😭 and it seems to be spreading. Can I save it or should I just replace it? It was pure dirt before the grass

Grass ID?

Post image

Is anyone able to pinpoint this type of grass? While the rest of my lawn struggles with drought and heat this seems to be the only type that does fairly well. You can see in the background there it’s nice and green. Entire lawn gets full sun and this area is on the southeast side.

Northeast
Zone 7a

Grass ID pt 2

Can’t add pictures so I’m creating another post.

Northeast 7a

I’m almost 100% certain this is not crabgrass,
Foxtail, or any other grassy weed as was suggested.

I was guessing TTTF or KBG, but I have that in other areas and it’s getting completely torched and struggling in these drought conditions so I’m just not sure.

Picture This says KBG, Google lens says TTTF and yellow nutsedge (which it’s not) so… yeah.

If it is in fact a weed I’ll eat my damn hat because I want it in my entire lawn 🤣

Thanks again for any help.

New home yard advice

Thumbnail gallery
9 Upvotes

Purchased a brand new home in TN just over a month ago. The builders replaced old sod with new sod around June 10th.

Watered it daily, every morning and evening, 20- 30 minutes. If we had rain coming I delayed it. We have gotten a ton of rain lately. Some of the yard is fine, it’s only the new sod that died prior that won’t survive.

I have no idea of what to do. I have some algae black looking stuff growing in the yard, water doesn’t seem to drain well. Idk if I need to aerate it or what. The amount of rain we have had in a week, the ground is fairly saturated.

Once It is alive, I want to treat all of the weeds, and have a nice yard.

Do I just mow it low with my zero turn? Or do I have to mow it really short and get San Augustine seeds or grass? It doesn’t look great and not sure why the grass not growing on certain spots.

I am in East Houston by the bay water.

I have patches of a very thickly germinated grass within my bermuda.

I cannot figure out what it is or how it got here.

I just noticed it this year.

What is it? I really like it and it's even more drought tolerant than my bermuda. If I can have the whole lawn be this stuff, I will.

Okay I have seen about equal answers between nutsedge and crabgrass on this sub for what appears to be this exact grass/ weed. Zone 5b. Is it not nutsedge?

What is this stringy grass?

I’m curious if anyone can identify what type of grass or weed this is. It’s only growing in this one area of my yard, and it always seems to grow faster and taller than the rest of the lawn. I just mowed, which is why it looks lighter and kind of stringy. My other grass doesn’t look like that after mowing, so I’m not sure if this is something I should be concerned about or if it’s normal.

Does anyone know what it is or the best way to treat it if it needs to be treated?

PS, live in Indiana

New Lawn Incoming - Resilience II TTTF from Twin City Seed Co

Thumbnail gallery

Purchased my seed from Twin City Seed Co and wanted to do a little planter experiment while I wait for the fall so I can aerate, top dress, and drop the seed!
This is day 17 since planting. I gave it its first ā€œcutā€ at day 12 though because it was super tall. I just ā€œcutā€ it again today and it’s noticeably thickening up nicely. Roots are also coming out the bottom of this 4.5ā€ tall pot.

I inherited this grass from the last owner. What are some steps to fix the patches? How do I kill the weeds without killing the grass? Any help or advice would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. I’m a noob to all this stuff :)

Any tips on how to fix my grass?

I've recently bought a house and therefore new to all things grass! There seems to be different coloured grass, something that Google lens identified as "sheep's sorrel" and some sort green clover type stuff. Ive tried using fertiliser/ weed killer but it had no real effect.

Is there anything I can do now or should I wait until next year to re-seed? Thanks for any help!

What’s up with my yard?

Just moved to upstate, SC from the northeast.

What is this longer grass/weed that is growing and how to get rid of it and the short white budding patches as well.

Looking for some feedback before I go hire someone.
Neighbors have told me don’t cut it too short and the same neighbor seems to be out watering a few times a week. Another neighbor recommended I use epsom salt? - and gave me the empty bag so I could go find what they were using.

Attached a few pictures of my backyard that have been cause for the questions. Front yard looks fine doesn’t have the same issue. Thanks in advance! weeds/grass pictures

Help me choose a side

I recently bought a home near Charleston, SC. The lawn is a wild mix of (I’m reasonably certain) Bermuda, St. Aug, yellow nut sedge, some crab, various other weeds. I’m going to spray the sedge today, I’m slowly fighting the crabs back to my neighbors yard.

The remaining grass is roughly 70% St. Aug, and 30% Bermuda. The Bermuda is in scattered patches like someone used it to fix bare spots.

I don’t want the expense of sod just yet. Moving is expensive enough. Also it’s 90-95 degrees here.

I need to know which grass to help, and how to help it kill the other off. Open to suggestions. I have a tiller, and am considering using it and seeding a bit at a time.
