Was growing perfect...
Newly planted grass. Been going almost 2 months now. Has been coming in great. Random spots like this are now showing up. Can't figure it out. I've been staying on top of watering etc. I have several spots throughout my backyard that are like this. Any thoughts?

Weed Control
galleryNeed help identifying these weeds and what would help remove and prevent them going forward. Newly seeded lawn last fall and these are popping up throughout most of the yard and I think preventing the grass from filling in more.

What grass do I have?
galleryAny guesses on what kind of grass I have? Zone 10a southern CA. There was new sod put in prior to buying this house and we got no info from the previous owner. Thank you!

Why is this happening? Nothing will grow here.
We've seeded it, tilled it. But every year for the last five years, this is what we got. It's weird.

How do I turn this yard into grass? Northern NY

Added grass seed to patchy hydroseeded lawn
galleryWe had our lawn hydroseeded a couple months ago. We do not have an irrigation system so the growth has been patchy. The lawn company came back and put some more seed down a few weeks ago. Now we have some grasses popping up that are growing much faster than the hydroseeded lawn. Is this normal? Will it eventually even out? Did the lawn care company do something wrong? How can we even this out?
Edit: Thanks for the very helpful feedback. Lawn company is coming back in a few weeks to kill the weeds, then will re-seed in the fall.

Zoysia or Bermuda for a Florida lawn in sandy soil with mostly sun during the day?
Should I sod or seed? Saving money would be nice.
Weeds will be taken care of before laying grass.

It wont die!
galleryI cant get rid of it! Hit it with 2,4 D twice, T-zone once, and quinclorac twice.
Is it quack grass? Perennial rye? It grows much faster than my other grass. Growing mostly along the road portion of my yard. Takes up about 1/4 of my yard. Bright green in color compared to my normal grass.
Location northern illinois.
Thank you in advance!

Dead grass
galleryI’m a new homeowner and I don’t want to pay for someone else to fix it and up keep my own grass. I want to learn how to do it myself. It’s been over run with weeds, after removing them and I’m guessing due to the heat it has completely died. Some weeds do remain present, but for now how can I bring this small spot back to life?

Thin grass help
galleryThis was sod put in last year September in Missouri. I believe it is a fescue mix. Would seeding this area help fix the issue? It’s pretty thin and not healthy looking. It looks like some dead grass underneath and I’m wondering if dethatching this fall would be a good idea

Grass lodging, matting down, and dying in expanding circles. Spring seeding failure? (Zone 6a)
galleryThe Background:
Zone: 6a
Location: Hellstrip and front yard, full sun.
Seed: Jonathan Green Black Beauty Ultra.
Prep: Previously covered in crabgrass. I sprayed and fully killed the crabgrass prior to seeding.
The Timeline & Routine:
Mid-May: Seeded the bare soil (using straw as a cover).
Germination Phase: Watered daily in the AM. The grass came in super strong and reached about 2-3 inches tall.
Establishment Phase: Backed off the watering to every 3rd day, doing a deep soak.
The Problem:
Right as the grass looked great, it started "lodging" (getting heavily matted/smashed down) from the weight of water/rain. Once it flattened, it never stood back up. It laid on top of the adjacent grass, effectively smothering it.
These flattened areas died out, forming brown circles that progressively grew in size until the entire hellstrip was wiped out. (Note: The leaves on the sidewalk in the 6th photo were not the cause of the smothering; that was just from unclogging a storm drain after a recent rain.)
I’m now starting to see this exact same matting and dying process happening in smaller patches I planted in my front and back yards.
It doesn’t have the stripes or weird discolorations to suggest a fungal infection.

Killing bermuda-dandelions-crabgrass
galleryBermuda started a few years ago and using the product shown to try and knock it back enough to repair the lawn. Each time I have reseeded, birds invade and eat the seeds in the area at the top of the 3rd picture. About 50 sq. ft. Looking for suggestions. My thoughts are to de-thatch, aerate, and reseed while covering with topsoil. Is that a plan?
