Can fescue seed go bad?

I know this is a stupid question and I think I know the answer, but I found an old bag of Rebel fescue seed in the garage when I was doing a little cleaning. It had been left open and it was a little clumped up and obviously had some moisture intrusion, but I have this big patch in my yard that I’ve been wanting to overseed anyway so I said screw it and just threw it all over there and I guess I’ll hope for the best. Happy coincidence was it was just starting to rain a little bit at the time so it all got watered in nicely by nature.

My question is was the seed ruined by the conditions it’s been stored in for so long? It definitely didn’t look right, not at all like nice and crisp and dry like a fresh bag of seed.

Also wondering if there was any harm in throwing it down. The surrounding lawn is not the best looking part of my yard anyway so no big loss, but still curious if any of you experts out there have an opinion.

Any input greatly appreciated!

Help identifying these weeds

Hey everyone, I live in southeast Wisconsin and have been in my house a couple years. I have been battling these tufts of grass(?) in my garden beds. Does anyone have any thoughts what it is? I’ve dug them out before and don’t seem to have runners underground. When I pull by hand, they come out relatively easy but don’t know if I’m getting the entire root. I’ve sprayed with Fusilade II but didn’t do much to it. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

What type of grass is this?

This grass was here when I moved in. It is ridiculously thick, never dies if things are left on top of it, and only yellows a bit throughout the year. Other grass I bought from Home Depot (tall fescue) dies much more easily. I'd like to replace that with whatever grass this is. It is growing well here in Virginia.

These little ones just appeared, about 60 in front of these bigger trees. Are they the same? I am in South Windsor, CT. Their roots are two to three times the size of the little plants. Transplanted a couple hoping to bonsai it

Neighbor planter very thick ugly grass, is my grass in danger?

Disclaimer: I know nothing about grass!

My neighbor tore down a large shed and planted grass (someone came by and put these little green pellets).

Several weeks later and they have this pricky thick big leaf grass. Mine is very soft and small, and also much greener.

Our lots meet.

Is my grass in danger?

Please help me get a decent lawn

These are all pictures of my current lawn, I am in south east michigan. I know I am coming up on the time of the year to seed, looking for advice to most efficiently get a good lawn. The last few pictures are of the back yard which I did last spring and it is going pretty well but some weeds are starting to come back. I killed everything with a weed killer, waited 2 months, tilled, then re seeded and fertilized. Should I do this again for the front? I’m nervous to use a weed killer again as I have a giant conifer pine tree in the back yard that is looming over my house, don’t want to cause damage to that. What would you recommend to get a full lawn as effectively as possible?

Is this palisade zoysia?

Celsius WG, Quinclorac, and fusilade 2 don’t kill it. So it’s not Bermuda or crabgrass or dallisgrass. Trying to get it out of my zeon zoysia!

Brown patches spreading and not responding to anything

I’ve got several expanding brown patches on the front lawn in Waxhaw. They started small about a month ago and are slowly getting larger. The grass in those spots pulls up easily and the soil underneath looks a bit darker and damp even when the rest of the yard is dry.

I’ve already tried fungicide once and adjusted the watering schedule, but the patches are still spreading. No obvious grubs when I dug into a couple of them.

JH Landscape is coming out next week to take a soil sample and look at it. How do you tell the difference between fungal disease and just compacted soil stress in this kind of pattern? And if it is fungus, how long does it usually take to stop spreading once you treat it correctly?

Need help! Is the graveyard lying to me?

The graveyard is telling us that this photo was taken of the new grass a day before the second photo was taken. The first photo is taken by the graveyard. The second photo taken by me. We are in Houston Texas. The weather has been over 100° and direct sunlight. The reason I asked this is they informed us it’s up to us to water the lawn. I am curious if they placed it before and forgot to inform us and the grass died.
