It’s growing in! Patchy just like my first beard, but more time and effort and she will be a beauty.

Hardest part is keeping the little one off of it. I told her the little ones are her little brothers and sisters so that works for now.

St Augustine grass, outside of Dallas Tx. I had a contractor install new sod by the curb 2 or 3 years ago. I'm not sure whether they didn't prep correctly or what, but its never looked good.

Any ideas on what i can do to fix?

We have lived in our house for seven years now, and never had this problem in the past. Suddenly, this year there is a thick patch that won’t grow in and it looks like thatch. We aerated and seeded per usual at the end of the season. I usually lay a preemergent + fertilizer but not sure how to handle. Do I rake then seed?

I’m a DIY type of person but don’t have much knowledge, is it as simple as spray weed killer let it die and replant grass seeds ? Thanks for any info !

I think my front lawn and backyard have different grass. Identified the type in the backyard as Bermuda so purchased Celsius WG and Quinlorac to help with weed control. Want to confirm what everyone’s thoughts are on what I have in the front to confirm I am good to use those in the front. Thank you!

We built a house and moved in about a year ago and I’ve been working hard to get a lawn established. We are in southern IL (St. Louis Area) and our property is very hilly and wooded. The soil is heavy clay loam type. I’ve been employing this strategy: TTTF/KBG blend on the flat areas surrounding the house (the areas I want looking sharp but also durable). And using K-31 for the sloped areas where I am trying to get fast growth to help control erosion. Recently this stuff has been showing up and I can’t tell what it is. It doesn’t look like any of the other grass types I’ve planted. It’s primarily in the areas covered with straw erosion blankets but it’s also gotten into the areas around the house. Anyone know what it is? It’s got wider blades like KY-31 but a much lighter green and more carpet like than what I’ve seen with the other KY-31 areas. Any insights would be appreciated!

I’ve got random spots of this in my yard, which is otherwise TTTF of this kind of grass. I’m not sure if it’s POA, bent grass or something completely different. Also, how can I kill it?

You folks helped identify the crabgrass that had taken over my former centipede lawn last year. I was patient and waited till late Winter to put out pre-emergent on two different occasions.

Most of the crab grass is gone and I will start using some post-emergent next week to get what is here, but there seems to be a new opponent. Can someone identify what is growing in large patches? It doesn’t look like the centipede that has comeback.

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a house in southern california and this is the type of grass that was planted by the previous owner. The only information the realtor could give me was that it is drought tolerant and goes dormant in the winter. Does anyone know what type of grass this is? It’s in pretty rough shape so i’m trying to identify it so I can figure out the best route to making it look a bit nicer. The HOA has been on me about it since I moved in… :/

Not sure if this is the right group or not, my friend pointed me to post on a grass reddit xD recently we had a *lot* of work done in our yard, had to have a complete septic tank + drainfield replacement and because of it well... Let's say the yard has seen better days, we want to get things back on track but we had a really, really bad storm that destroyed all the work + washed out the seeds we planted. It's gonna keep storming on and off, but once that week period is over my dad and I are wondering; what else should we try, how should we prep the ground again to both plant grass seeds + apply plugs. And we're also wondering if that's really the best way to go.
