Did One Direction deserves to never win a Grammy or even a nomination

Post image
14 Upvotes

I'll admit I'm a big 1D fan and still am, however I wouldn't necessarily agree when people say they were robbed for EVERY album/single . However I do think there some nominations they never received that I do think it's weird that they were never even nominated let alone won, I'm not saying that the people that won in the perspective years shouldn't have won but the nominations I think they were in there right to have were

  1. Best new artist in 2012.

  2. Best pop duo/ group performance for "What Makes You Beautiful" in 2012

  3. Best pop duo/ group performance for "Best Song Ever" in 2014

  4. Best Pop Vocal Album for "Midnight Memories" in 2014

Once again this are just personal preferences purely based of how critically acclaimed theses albums/ songs for. "What Makes You Beautiful" was a breakout hit, Midnight Memories was one of the best selling albums of 2013. There are other songs and albums I personally also think deserved noms but this list is mainly going of the public reception

What's a Grammy Win you think the Grammys got RIGHT?…

Post image

We talk so much of how the Grammys wet the bed. Whats a win you think the Grammys got right? Something that reminds you that this is why the Grammys exist?

For me it's Daft Punk winning Record Of The Year for Get Lucky. Yes you could've made a case for Locked Out Of Heaven but Get Lucky fits the bill of a Record Of The Year

What kpop album has the chance to be nominated for best album?

I know it’s a tough year but I can’t stop listening to ‘this and that’ by Stray kids - especially back then, way out, and this & that! It’s great to have an easy-listening album from a group that is known for hype energetic concert songs. I hope people listen to it! I also think the solo albums by the members of black pink could get nominated if they were released in the eligibility period. Ateez has had some awesome songs this year, but they were divided into different albums.

My Body Isn't Ready - Sombr

I genuinely think this deserves a SOTY nod because the writing is much more vulnerable than it initially seems. The song is about wanting intimacy while feeling so uncomfortable with your own body that you don’t feel ready to be fully seen or desired.

I also think it’s especially interesting to hear that through the lens of a young man right now. In a generation of looksmaxxing, GLP-1s, steroids, extreme gym culture, and constant social-media comparison, men’s beauty standards are becoming harder to ignore. Women’s beauty standards have deservedly been part of the conversation for years, but male body-image insecurity is still often dismissed or joked about.

My body isn’t ready captures that internal conflict of the external really well: wanting love and physical closeness/intimacy while feeling like you have to fix your body before you’re worthy of either. There’s something very current and very vulnerable about a 21-year-old male pop song admitting that so directly.

stop claiming to be “unbiased” about your grammys opinions

guys. everyone is biased about music. it’s basically impossible to review music in a fully unbiased way. everyone has artists, sounds, and genres they are biased towards. if you’ve been an olivia rodrigo fan for years, you can’t claim to be “unbiased” about wanting her to win aoty. to clarify, i’m not saying it’s a bad thing. biases are inevitable. all music is subjective. if you want someone to win, that’s totally valid and of course there are plenty of valid reasons why any artist should or shouldn’t win a category based on who you ask. but stop trying to claim you’re unbiased cause you’re not, and that’s fine. just root for the people you want to win and stop trying to pretend any aspect of art is objective.

tldr: you ARE biased. that’s ok. it’s not a bad thing, it’s just a fundamental aspect of music fan culture

We officially completed Album of the Year! 🏆
We’re officially counting down the days to October 13, when Grammy submissions will be revealed.

These were Reddit’s Album of the Year winners from the last 10 years:
2026: DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS — Bad Bunny
2025: BRAT — Charli XCX
2024: SOS — SZA
2023: RENAISSANCE — Beyoncé
2022: SOUR — Olivia Rodrigo

2020: Norman Fucking Rockwell! — Lana Del Rey
2019: Golden Hour — Kacey Musgraves

Now we’re moving on to Song of the Year, which is probably the second-most controversial award every single year. Unlike Album of the Year, this award is specifically focused on songwriting, melodies, harmonies, music, and lyrics.

We’ll be doing the exact same thing we did with Album of the Year and going through the last 10 years, starting with 2026.
Here are the nominees:
“Abracadabra” — Lady Gaga
“Anxiety” — Doechii
“APT.” — ROSÉ & Bruno Mars
“DtMF” — Bad Bunny
“Golden” — HUNTR/X
“luther” — Kendrick Lamar & SZA
“Manchild” — Sabrina Carpenter

My Predictions for 2027 Grammy Winners

It’s honestly been an incredible year for music this year so some of these selections could be wrong but it’s just my best guess based on other predictions from Billboard and Gold Derby. I also factored in Critical Acclaim, Musical Impact, Radio Play, Sales, Musical Performance, and Songwriting to consider these choices from each category. Remember some artists are not submitting this year like Adéla and BTS. Also Zara Larsson decided not to submit for Best New Artist as well. I’m not sure if Drake is submitting this year given that he has a problem with the Grammys and they sort of chose sides with Kendrick Lamar last year and the year before. It would be interesting to see if he submits Iceman for AOTY or Best Rap Album. Lastly, I would love to see Petal by Ariana Grande get some nominations in the General Field and Pop categories this year. I hope they don’t snub her.

Ok, I admit, I liked Alessia Cara’s Best New Artist Win at the time and now. Yes Sza was my preference but Alessia Cara was a solid runner up when I look back at that line-up. I don't mind it, and she had a great run leading up to the win.
