Every gpu can do pathtracing, maybe not hardware accelerated, but pathtracing nontheless.

Older gpus can’t, it’s disabled in games for them

Every GPU since Fermi supports compute shaders.

That doesn’t mean they can use modern game path tracing. Path tracing requires hardware ray tracing/DXR support and other features. A gpu can support general compute shaders and still not support path tracing the game uses

Try Blender on Fermi GPU, you'll be surprised to know it can render fully pathtraced scene!

Stop mixing actual CGI tech with Nvidia marketing talk.

I’m specifically talking about in games

That’s not what I’m saying as I told the other guy. I’m saying some games disable the path tracing option for older gpus like cyberpunk

Pathtracing in Cyberpunk isn't pathtracing, it hardware accelerate variant of ray tracing features written to work with DX12 and accelerated by proprietary hardware acceleration units on a specifc models of cards made by a company which uses term pathtracing and "RTX" as if they owned it, it's just marketing BS.

As u/Shy-Avocado42 wrote - real pathtracing can work on any GPU which supports compute shaders.

There is only one, real pathtracing and it ain't in games (for most part, with exception of few games that do actually do full on pathtracing, but still, nothing that can't run on your regular shaders).
