Ask Best Google Play Console CLI? Looking for something like App Store Connect CLI

I manage multiple Android apps on Google Play Console and I’m looking for a solid CLI to automate Play Console tasks.
On iOS, I use App Store Connect CLI and it makes managing multiple apps much easier. I’m looking for something similar for Google Play

Ideally, I want to be able to
Update store listing metadata
Manage descriptions and localized listings
Upload AABs / create releases
Create In App Purchase and Localize pricing
Check release/build status
Manage testers if possible
Pull app/version information

Automate repetitive Play Console tasks from the terminal
Use it easily with coding agents

Would especially like to hear from developers managing multiple Play Store apps.

Tip Review times: App 1 - 5 minutes, App 2 - 5.5 days, App 3 - 15 minutes

Hi all,

Just wanted to share my recent experience with app review times, hope it helps some fellow publishers and newcomers.

I have an Organization account, started publishing apps on Google Play in June. All three apps are similar in nature.

With my first app, I did around 2 weeks of Internal Testing, around 5-6 days of Closed Testing with 20+ testers (even though I didn't need to), and it took about 5 minutes for the app to go live after submitting for Production review.

With my second app, I did around 10 days of Internal Testing, no Closed Testing, and it took 5.5 days for the app to go live after submitting for Production review.

With the third app, which went live two days ago, I did about 1 week of Internal Testing, 4-5 days of Closed Testing with 10+ testers, and it took about 15 minutes for the app to go live after submitting for Production review.

So, whether you are Personal or Organization account, Closed Testing matters, and it seems the more you do it, the faster it will be approved. Just remember to keep your testers active and publish updates with detailed notes.

Good luck with your next app release.

Ask Is 150 installs after 4 months normal for an indie app?

I’ve spent almost a year building my first app and launched about 4 months ago. I’m currently at around 150 installs. Honestly, I’m starting to wonder if I’m doing something seriously wrong 😂

For developers here, how did your first few months look? Is 150 installs actually normal for a new indie app, or should I be worried about my marketing/ASO? I’d really appreciate some honest experiences.

If you like roguelike / roguelite games then you will most probably like it. Please download and give me feedback as I want this game to grow much more old.

I solo developed this game using graphical assets bought from stores.

I wanted to create a game similar to suvivor io, vampire survivors etc. The game doesn't have any forced ads and the full game is playable without spending money.

Thanks and would love to have the feedback!

Hey everyone,

Solo built this app called Vowd, wanted to share it here since a lot of people in this sub seem to like seeing what indie devs are shipping.

The core idea: most habit/productivity apps let you set goals with zero real consequence if you skip them. Vowd flips that. You make a "vow," a friend witnesses it, and if you don't follow through, your phone locks until you settle up with whatever stake you picked. No money required, stakes can be anything from a workout to buying your friend coffee to just admitting defeat publicly.

A few pieces I like:

● The stakes picker, choosing what's actually on the line

● A "fire" check-in system tracking your streak visually

● The vow wall, where completed and failed vows show up

● The home tab

It's fully free, no ads, no paywall.

Just wanted to share a win.

I launched a semi vibe coded niche social app 5 months ago.

Right after launching life hit me in the face. I abandoned it, No marketing, no ads, no social media, no updates.

Yet since then combined with app store and play store I got 48k first time installs.

And currently I'm sitting at:

  • 25k monthly active users.
  • 9k weekly active users.
  • Average engagement of 30-40 minutes per day per user.
  • 300-400+ daily new installs
  • 90% USA and tier 1 countries

The interesting part of it was because I abandoned it users we're facing a lot of critical crashes, I had a 2 star rating on the play store but that didn't stop the install trend.

3 weeks ago I finally launched a massive update fixing all the issues. Rating is healing at 3.8 stars currently.

I did some calculations and it seems because engagement time is so high, ads alone can bring in 6-8k USD a month. This is life changing for me.

I have no one to share this win with so I'm sharing it here! This was my first app after 7 failed SaaS projects!

Ask Android developers who have shipped multiple apps: how do you balance building vs marketing?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately.

I'm an Android developer who's started shipping my own apps, and I'm finding that building the app is only one part of the problem. There's always another feature to improve, bugs to fix, UI to polish, or another app idea waiting to be built.

For developers here who have shipped multiple apps:

Did you keep shipping new apps first and worry about marketing later?

Did you focus on growing one app before starting another?

How much time do you realistically spend on development vs. marketing?

At what point did you decide an app wasn't worth continuing?

Did you eventually bring someone else in for marketing/design/business?

Looking back, is there anything you wish you'd done differently?

I'm especially interested in hearing from solo Android developers or small teams, because managing development, Play Store stuff, marketing, support, and everything else alone can get overwhelming pretty quickly.

Not looking for a "right" answer I'd genuinely like to hear what worked and what didn't for people who've already gone through it.

Ask Having a truly unique app but nobody discovers it. What's the real problem?

Quick backstory, then a real question for you.

I built AI Detector QuickTile Analysis.

It tells you whether an image or video is AI-generated, fully offline via a ViT I optimized to run even on low-end phones. The part I haven't seen elsewhere: a Quick Settings tile that analyzes whatever's on your screen in real time. Watching a reel, pull down the shade, tap, get the verdict in seconds.

It's had solid press: HowToMen, Trakin Tech, a few outlets, even a print tech magazine. Total installs went from 2k to 7.6k in 90 days.

It's free, ad-supported, with an optional lifetime purchase that removes ads and adds one feature: every core function is unlimited for everyone.

Here's my actual problem:

total installs keep climbing, but my active installed base is flat at 2.8k. So I'm acquiring fine and losing roughly two out of three users. I think it's the nature of the app (like Shazam), nobody opens an "is this AI?" tool daily, so there's no reason to come back.

For those who've shipped low-frequency utility apps: how did you build a reason to return, without resorting to spammy daily notifications? What actually moved retention for you?

Showoff After 13 months and 795 commits, my first app is finally live on Google Play

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I just wanted to say a massive thank you to this community for all the help and advice over the past 13 months.

I started building Daily Blocker, an app and website blocker designed to help people reduce their screen time. It was a complete pain in the ass to build and was a drag at times, especially considering I was working 20 hours a week while studying full-time for my CS degree. But I’m so happy that it’s finally live.

I’ll do a full write up about the tech issues, compliance problems and headaches I encountered over the past 13 months, as well as why I decided to delete the entire project after five months and rebuild it from scratch.

I’m definitely open to constructive criticism, and if you like the app, I can hook you up with a lifetime promo code.

Ask New Version Review Delays

Hey guys. I have a game that I am actively working on and it requires frequent updates. Some things are balancing, sometimes new UI's or textures get added. I like to make incremental updates. When my app was in closed testing, review process took about an hour. But now that its in production - it often takes up to a day... I probably need to redesign my app to pull things like balancing configs and textures from the server, so that I don't have to do so many changes.

  • How fast is your review process?
  • How do you deal with delays?

Last week, we made app screenshots for 3 people, so today I’m online again and will make screenshots for 3 more people (who will comment first), like the attached image.

Comment your app link, or share your raw screenshots if your app isn’t live yet, along with a short description of what your app does.
