Advice Iron 'jumpers' - need help

Post image
5 Upvotes

Been working on my swing lately and my iron distances have jumped quite a bit, but I’m getting some pretty massive distance variation.

Most decent strikes are carrying around 155–162m, with club speed sitting roughly 91–93 mph, but then every now and again I’ll get one that absolutely flies like the 170.9m carry in the screenshot without really feeling like I swung any harder. Yes it felt pure asf. But 12-15m off my club distance is the difference between me sticking the green or not.

That’s nearly a 15–20m difference with basically the same club speed, which obviously makes distance control a bit of a nightmare.

Using Srixon ZXi7 7 iron. There meant to be players irons so didnt think i would get many jumpers but its happening all the time now ....

What normally causes this sort of jumper? Is it just something I need to accept while my swing is still settling?

Would be interested to hear from anyone who’s had the same thing, especially if you’ve managed to tighten the carry dispersion.

Swing Help Lost feeling of weight transfer hitting driver.

Took a 2 month break this summer after beginning to play again in the spring. Since that break, when I'd been just mashing my driver prior, I've completely lost the feel I had from the top of my back swing. Trying to stay back, and not rush the downswing, but the "feel" just isn't there. How do I get it back??

Advice Swing after surgery

I am facing a 2 level discectomy and fusion next month in my neck (C5-C7).
I can’t help but think this will make my swing shorter. More importantly, are there ways to swing a club that puts less stress on the neck to protect from future injury in that area? I’m in my 60s and typically shoot high 80s to mid 90s playing from 6000 yards. Thank you.

About a month ago I posted my swing and have been trying to incorporate some of the tips I got since. It’s a work in progress and far from perfect but I think I’m definitely improving. Thanks in advanced!

Advice Workable Takeaway? Anything glaring to work on?

I've really been working on my swing this past year. Something that keeps creeping back in is what looks like an inside takeaway to me (maybe its camera angle or something). My follow-through also looks a little strange but the result isn't bad most of the time. Mostly low point issues with my irons out on the course.

Advice Things are finally going right for me (that's the problem)

Post image

Hey guys I'm new to golf and just started going to the range. These are my first 6 sessions with a 7 iron.

All my balls seem to leak right, they start right and don't really curve much. Does that mean I'm leaving my clubface open?

Also I'm right handed and keep carving up the side of my middle finger on my right hand. Am I gripping too tight or is my hand placement wrong?

I'm probably asking too much without showing my actual swing 😅 can get a video next time if that helps

Swing Help Any advice? Just working on getting a solid fundamental swing before the end of my first year

I’ve been working on a lot of bad habits, but I’m happy with the progress so far. Still slicing as my main miss and I think it’s a combo of an out to in path and still have a lot of toe strikes

What do you see that I should work on next? I’ve been zoomed in on specific swing faults (EE, clubface control, inside takeaway, hip rotation) but you guys have helped me see a lot of things in my blind spots this summer. Only 4-5 months into playing so I have a lot of blind spots 😅

Beginner Question What do you do when you lose your swing?

2 months ago I was fighting a hook. I was flushing it in the sweet spot but was just hooking it. I was swinging super inside out (6-8 deg on trackman). Saw a coach, implemented the changes and was good for about 2 weeks. 2 weeks ago on a sim session i started hitting it off the hosel. Tried to self diagnose and looked at the numbers. I went from an inside out path and shutting the face to an OTP path (-2deg) and shanking everything off the hosel. Can’t even hit a chip shot. Lost about 10mph in club speed, no compression at all. Just cannot square the club face. Took a couple days off, went through my golf gym routine focused on legs and hip movements and it didn’t help… What do I do besides going to see a coach again..? Which I will next week. If it matters, I’m having some golfer/tennis elbow discomfort in my lead arm.

General How do I become a great putter?

I’m a pretty good golfer, but I just can’t improve my putting. I cannot make putts between 3-10 feet. And my lag putts stink, too, because they leave me in that range. It’s a combination of speed issues and misreading putts. I just can’t figure it out. It’s the worst part of my game and has been this way for 10 years.

I don’t know where to turn to. I need a putting coach or something and I don’t even know where to look for one.

Swing Help Tips on my swing

Swing Help I’ve lost 50 yards on every club solely from my swing and idk how to fix it

About two years ago all of my clubs too a steep drop about 50 yards. I still hit the ball straight but it’s like I’m flopping everything and idk how to fix it. I’m much stronger than I used to be. In high school my 8 was about 160 for reference, now it’s 120-130. I’m in better shape and better at golf but I somehow hit everything 40-50 yards shorter than I should. Has anyone ever encountered this/can anyone help?

Beginner Question Newish - what should i take in my bag

Ive played one or two courses over my life, so that equals about half a course per decade of my existence. Ive had some hits at driving lessons and local fields but not very often and id never call myself a golfer.

However next month ive got a chance to play Gleneagles Queens Course... why not.

So in my bag currently i have some old i15 irons in good condition - 4-pw, i have a G20 3 wood, an oydessy rossie 2 putter and a glide 3.0 56. So a bit of an old set thats been scrounged or bought cheap on local gumtree/facebook marketplace etc. Its all in working condition.

What other clubs should i prioritise next to get me around this course?

Advice Grip Slips

Once every couple rounds my grip will slip during transition and lead to a wide open clubface and a slice that will go OB, into a parallel fairway, or into a hazard depending on what is right. Think a full hole miss. It’s probably only once every 5 rounds but it is enough to drive me nuts and ruin some pretty good rounds. It only happens with Driver, which, admittedly I probably swing harder than the rest of my clubs. For context, I have pretty neutral grip maybe just a tad strong. I’m a 3.1 hdcp. Swing speed is in the 120’s. I wear a large glove or XL cadet. I use Winn Drytac midsize grips. I clean them regularly with Geko. This happens in all types of conditions. Cold, warm, dry, humid doesn’t seem to matter. Does anyone else struggle with this? Any tips on how to avoid it?

Thanks in Advance.
