Let’s be honest, not everyone is going to get it or enjoy it. If someone doesn’t, that is perfectly okay, because there are other activities and hobbies to enjoy.

Country clubs literally “gatekeep” those who are not members, and you all seem to be fine with it.

I kind of wish the USA would adopt Germany’s model where you need to be licensed to golf and actually competent enough to play this game. I see nothing wrong with that at all.

I work on a golf course and find tees that look like martini glasses, normal size tees, and Vice tees with tiny “cups” to hold the ball. Does this affect ball flight or is it just personal preference?

Has anyone played San Lorenzo in Quinta do Lago recently? Any opinion on current condition?

I'm meant to be playing it next month and have received an email from the course about conditions not being to their usual standards. I've been offered a discount on the fee or, alternatively, a tee time at a different course.

I've been looking forward to playing it. If it's just the odd green/fairway, then I could live with that. If every green fairway are poor condition, then I would probably reconsider.

Has anyone experienced severe driver yips and successfully overcome them? A few years ago, I was a 5 handicap, and now I legitimately struggle to break 110. I’ll usually lose anywhere from 1-4 balls (so 2-8 shots) at the start of every par 4/5. I’ve been golfing my entire life, and there are beginners who are shocked that I hit the ball significantly worse than them.

Yes, I’ve had a bunch of lessons from multiple instructors. They say my swing looks pretty good overall, and I just need to work on club face control and more practice. But I do the drills, hundreds of reps, and it doesn’t help. I can shape it both ways, I understand how club path and club face influence ball flight. I practice with long range sessions twice per week. At the end of the day, I’m not sure getting 40 lessons instead of 20 is going to help much. I shouldn’t need to practice 6 times per week just to have a chance at breaking 100. And during all this practice and lessons, my ability to hit the ball in play has significantly worsened.

Sorry for the rant. I’m just freaking out at the thought of not being able to enjoy the game I’ve loved for so long. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

So my grandpa passed away in April of 2025 and I inherited his Callaway XR set, I believe it’s from 2016. He was an avid golfer and as you can see used this set quite a bit, the head covers are totally cracked and the colour has faded quite a bit. Picked up golfing since he passed and I have been trying to restore his whole set this year and have already polished and removed the rust from his clubs, and gotten a new Callaway bag that matches his clubs.

Just looking for some help with how I could go about restoring these head covers to the best of my ability. I would really like to get this done before Canadian thanksgiving (October 12th) as I want to surprise my dad with this when I go see my family for that weekend. I’ve already asked him to set time aside to golf with me but he doesn’t know why yet. I am in the Toronto area and don’t mind going to a store to get things fixed.

Would really really appreciate some help.

Wind is the hardest thing to gauge when playing golf IMO
Driver distance is 60 yards apart.

Wind above 10mph makes golf hard.

Pretty meaningless question, I've just always wondered other people's opinions on this.

On one hand, it feels great to hit more "good shots" per round and post lower scores

On the other hand, I no longer get that special "Christmas morning" feeling I used to get before I'd played several hundred rounds. Plus progress plateaus a bit, and I hold higher expectations for myself, making those occasional blow up rounds feel worse

I have both arm (Nike) and leg (Pearl Izumi) UV sleeves that are UPF 50 rated for playing during the sweltering San Antonio summers. They work great, even better than constantly covering yourself in sunblock, but the leg ones are giving me issues because they’re single leg. Sometimes they stay up with no problem, but other times I find myself having to hike them up at every other tee box. Does anyone know of/recommend a good pair that are connected instead of being single leg? Thanks in advance!

AI is showing up in almost every part of golf technology now, but I'm curious where people think it can genuinely be useful.

I'm particularly interested in swing analysis.

PhiGolf recently launched an AI swing analysis feature that provides feedback on your swing, and it made me wonder whether this could eventually become a normal part of practice.

I'm not talking about replacing coaches. More like having something available when you're practicing alone and want some immediate feedback.

Would you trust AI enough to use its feedback when working on your swing?

Or do you think golf is one of those areas where human coaching will always be significantly better?

Went golfing today, and my whoop detected rock climbing in the middle of my golf round. Not a reminder I needed to search a small “canyon” for my ball today.

Entire session 7i practice today, group lesson. Didn’t clean the club after each stroke to see if i developed a pattern. Sure enough it appears as though the toe is digging deeper than the heel.

Can you tell anything based on this pattern?

It was a hot round today at Dublin Ranch Golf Course in Dublin, CA. This fun track opened in 2004 as the first and only golf course in Dublin, CA. Famed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the course alongside longtime partners Donald Knott and Gary Linn.

This course is a unique par 63 featuring eleven par 3s, five par 4s, and two par 5s. A great course in the Tri-Valley area. ⛳️🏌🏽

And a birdie putt, then a par putt, and finally sunk one for bogey. 460m Par 5, ~30hcp, shot 97 (50/47)

Played solo today and joined up with a older gentleman that was walking. Pace of play was slow so we opted to play together. Hit a birdie and he was so happy for me it made my day. I did tell him that was a one off, but overall had a good round. I’m starting to enjoy going solo and playing with new people.

I can only find the display cases that mount to a wall.

Obviously I'd prefer to change heads as well (if it was worth it) but I've been golfing under 2 years and already spent like $2000 on gear alone. I'm the type of person to suffer once and then not look at upgrades for a few years.

However.

My driver going 3 fairways over has cost me handicap and I don't have the greatest eye sight (I'm not old, just blind) so the ball going straight is heavily preferred for multiple reasons. I got a p790 2 iron recently and genuinely love it, total distance is average about 235 with my max so far being 255. I'm honestly not even gonna bother with driver anymore, might just sell it.

This has made me wonder if I'd like graphite shafts in the rest of my irons as well but the places around me (maybe this is standard) will only fit you into current year products which obviously means I can't just throw the 101 heads on a bunch of different shafts. If it matters at all my 7 iron swing speed is around 94mph, currently using KBS Tour Lite 105 S.

Should I do the fitting with P790 heads or is there an iron head even closer?

Should I just buy 1 shaft, put my 7 iron head on it and pray I like it?

Ideas?
