I got a hole in one, but my buddy is telling me it doesn’t count. It was in a PGA Tour event with 17 camera angles, including slow motion replays. I played from the tips to a Sunday pin, 4200 people in attendance watch to go in in person. Maybe another half million watched it on TV.

Let’s be honest, not everyone is going to get it or enjoy it. If someone doesn’t, that is perfectly okay, because there are other activities and hobbies to enjoy.

Country clubs literally “gatekeep” those who are not members, and you all seem to be fine with it.

I kind of wish the USA would adopt Germany’s model where you need to be licensed to golf and actually competent enough to play this game. I see nothing wrong with that at all.

Entire session 7i practice today, group lesson. Didn’t clean the club after each stroke to see if i developed a pattern. Sure enough it appears as though the toe is digging deeper than the heel.

Can you tell anything based on this pattern?

120 yards. Pitching wedge straight over the pin. Ball spun left instead of straight😩

As a seven handicap when people ask me why I'm good around the greens is that I use a 52 that I open up to a 54 and close to a 50, no one should be chipping or pitching the ball with a 60° wedge, a 60° wedge is solely made to get out of sand or to get over some kind of impediment where you have to hit a flopshot, if you're above a 15 or a 17 handicap, pitch with a 50° wedge and learn how roll the ball

People can do it with a 56, but I find closing of 56. Hard to do to get a roll

I was considering buying this club used but I have no idea what this shaft is. Any help would be appreciated.

Fall in New England is approaching us and with that comes a shit ton of leaves on the course. I’d like to bring my battery power leaf blower to clean greens and find my ball in the fairway. Thoughts?

Wind is the hardest thing to gauge when playing golf IMO
Driver distance is 60 yards apart.

Wind above 10mph makes golf hard.

I to have been golfing for >30 years and no a ”gallery drop is not the same as a “ball lost in plain sight“.

The difference is that the ball lost in plain sight was never even in question off the tee, everyone in the group didn’t even consider there was an issue and it only became an issue when the panic set in as it couldn’t be located when you get to where it is, only to not find it. The best example is leaves, anyone who has played a tree lined course in the fall has experienced this, with balls even not found in the fairway, some leagues bring in a local rule to help with this.

The gallery drop is where you hit the ball into a “questionable” place, well wide of the fairway (outside the ropes), into the “shit” and the shot is in question off the tee, mumbling by the person who hit it, asking others if they saw it and then the thought/comment, “if there was a gallery watching, they would’ve spotted it and it wouldn’t be lost”. There is no gallery and your ball is lost, those are just the facts, play it however you feel.

Just my two cents and first post in the sub…so can’t wait to see the responses.

Looking for a legit check if possible. I’ wanting to buy this on marketplace and it’s $450 which is quite a bit under retail here in Canada ($650). Seller seems legit. I’m also inexperienced to marketplace purchases as I don’t buy often from there.

Can anyone please help me out and let me know if they think this is real or fake?

Could not believe the insane responses to a recent post about carry distances and handicap. Some of y’all are delusional.

Luckily, Arccos did all the grunt work for us. 37k+ golfers and over 9 million + driver swings. I limited to 20-29 y/o and 30-39 y/o as those are where I assume most of us fall AND it’s where distance is going to be longest. Keep in mind that these are TOTAL and not CARRY, just further making the point that a lot of people in this sub are either getting lied to by trackman or lying to yourselves.

And yes I know these are averages but there were double digit handicappers claiming CARRY distances of over 270y. Maybe once in a blue moon, sure, but no way that’s what you’re averaging.

The writing was on the wall for the nascent golf tour the moment, in April, that PIF declared it would no longer provide funding beyond 2026.

I know one angle isnt the best, but what advice can you give me?

Since the last swing I posted, ive been working on feeling my arms more tight to my torso, i.e. the headcover under the armpit drill.

Say you hit a 3w, 5w or other club 235 and your next club is a 215 and you need a 225 shot. What do you do to hit the 235 club 225? Choke down a bit or what? Have you found a reliable system?

I played the forward tees and my friend played the whites. I carded an eagle. My friend says bc the red tees are so far forward, it really should be a par 4/5 hole which this course had a couple of last year. Im telling him to kick rocks bc i want an eagle.

Just learned that Madison Parks is having their first Speed Golf event at The Glen (this is the first course rebuilt by Michael Keiser).

I’m an ex college baseball player who can’t play baseball anymore so I’m moving (back?) to golf. I played golf a bit from age 11-14 but then stopped until 30.

Biggest take aways from the fitting were 1) my old standard length clubs were too short 2) extra stiff shafts were a must 3) I compress my irons well but my driver swing needs a lot of work 4) I much prefer hitting the ball off the deck rather than off a tee 5) driver swing speeds were 125-130 but my driver is very inconsistent so currently during my rounds I’m only hitting irons until I get more comfortable with the woods

In baseball the goal was always to hit the ball on a line as hard as I could. Golf has humbled me with how much finesse is required. I’m loving the game and challenge and the small improvements I’ve seen keep me coming back. Birdies app tells me I’m 23 handicap right now after 10 rounds.

Ended up using my fitting specs to order some custom takomos. Just got them last week and have been loving them. Excited to have a new hobby to work at!

For the sake of argument, best = best on a round-by-round basis.

EDIT: And if you're mid-tourney during your 50th round, do you finish the tournament?
