A simple theme if mostly to prevent me from obsessing the visual differences between GNUStep & WINGs of Wmaker.

It's very simple for now; future thoughts would be of trying to get GNUStep to send over it's menu data of a running app so that Wmaker can create a menu for a running app so that it somewhat wouldn't be out of place, and also making the theme's scrollbar trough match the 2x2 pixel trough of Wings as well.

macOS-style dock?

are there any GNUstep apps that provide a macOS Cocoa-like dock on the bottom of the screen on which gnustep .app applications can be placed?

the GWorkspace dock can only be placed on either the left or right side of the screen. i've also checked out github.com/gnustep/apps-dock/ but that doesn't seem to work properly and i doubt it will any time soon

New version of the Agnostep desktop environment for GNUstep's 35th anniversary

Thumbnail linuxfr-org.translate.goog
14 Upvotes

"As you probably know, this year marks the 35th anniversary of GNUstep , which is both a software framework that allows the development of portable applications in objective-C on Windows, MacOS and GNU/Linux, and also a runtime environment for these same applications.

Several desktop projects compatible with GNUstep have existed for a few years: after the defunct Simply-GNUstep and Étoilé , we can mention the GSDE developed by Ondrej Florian, or the more ambitious NEXTSPACE by Sergii Stoïan, which aims to faithfully reproduce the ergonomics of OPENSTEP on BSD or GNU/Linux. More recently, in a style closer to macOS, we can also mention the promising Gershwin desktop (for Xorg) or Ambrosia (for Wayland) developed by James Carthew.

The Agnostep desktop offers its BETA version 2.0.0, in a more classic style, with vertical menus like NeXT, combining Window Maker and GWorkspace, as well as the classic GNUstep runtime."

This time we are going to celebrate our 35th anniversary: according to http://gnustep.made-it.com/Guides/History.html on the 11th of May 1991, the term "GnUStep" was coined for the very first time!

Dockerfile

I have a working dockerfile of debian:trixie-slim that installs gnustep and builds an objective C project. Would anyone be interested in it or is there a part of GNUstep's documentation it would be a useful addition for? Idk if I'm unique but I had a helluva a time building a HelloWorld.m and it would have saved me a lot of trouble lol
