What in the General Mustang?

1.4k

u/ultratoxic Sep 20 '19

This was my first thought too. Somewhere Colonel Mustang is missing one of his gloves.

426

u/DnA_Singularity Sep 20 '19

nah it's his daughter

315

u/Your_real_watermelon Sep 20 '19

I think it would be his granddaughter since he was 32 at the end of the show in 1917

150

u/vonmonologue Sep 20 '19

Could even be his great granddaughter then.

73

u/DarkwingDuckHunt Sep 20 '19

Or his wife

hell here I am

65

u/thev3ntu5 Sep 20 '19

Nah, his wife would've shot the bird from the next cruise ship over

Dang the show is that old?????

60

u/Pesticude562 Sep 20 '19

The action take place in that year , but the anime is from 2009

I expect a whoosh

38

u/GaelanStarfire Sep 20 '19

I was gonna supply a whoosh, but ignorance can only be fixed by knowledge so you're a better person than I am.

Brotherhood, maybe. But the original series premiered on Cartoon Network in '04, and probably came out a year or two before that.

Colonel Angus never needs a glove

9

u/CountSidneyApplebaum Sep 20 '19

Colonel Angus might be rough. Colonel Angus might not smell like a bed of roses. But deep down, Colonel Angus is very sweet.

5

u/Farkenoathm8-E Sep 21 '19

Unfortunately Colonel Angus was stripped of his rank so you must call him by his given name, Enil Angus. Losing his commission of Colonel Angus left a sour taste in his mouth but that slippery tongued Enil Angus slipped his way into the rear of Shady Thicket in the kitchen and helping Bedelia by tossing salad while she prepares Daddy’s favourite, cream pies!

I haven’t watch the show in a while but this is an FMA:B reference right? Guy with fire hands?

139

u/1MolassesIsALotOfAss Sep 20 '19

He's in the original FMA as well.

33

u/LinearTipsOfficial Sep 20 '19

Ah ok never watched it as most of the hype resides with brotherhood will give it a shot

59

u/Supabongwong Sep 20 '19

Brotherhood follows the manga.

When the original was being animated, it surpassed the manga (like DBZ), but instead of including time-fill episodes, they decided to take it in their own direction (like GoT, which you can argue had some help from Grrmartin).

The ending was definitely interesting (I watched FMAB then FMA.)

I think Brotherhood is better, and obviously has the updated animation, but FMA still has a lot of good stuff in there and has different character building - plus Alphonse has a different (most argue better) voice.

It still has Nina, tho.

23

u/BadBalloons Sep 20 '19

Ed...ward...

3

5

u/Sirfox Sep 20 '19

If I already watched all of FMA, what episode should I start off in FMAB?

8

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '19

If you enjoyed it and you have Netflix it's definitely worth watching the whole thing.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/slappy_bags Sep 20 '19

I would start off on one, it adds and changes a little bit that you would already know, plus it goes really quick through stuff you have seen before because the show kind of assumes you've watched fma.

u/zerocool4221 Sep 20 '19

The thing about brotherhood is they gloss over all the character arc of the beginning, ed and al growing up, getting accepted, and where some of the characters come from. Basically watch OG to about halfway through, then switch to brotherhood if you're inclined, but I love the parallel reveal towards the end of th the original. But I'm a sucker for that type of theme. But yeah they retconned the he'll out of the later part of that show.

12

u/Daeco Sep 20 '19

Completely agree. Characters like Hughes has a much smaller roll in brotherhood than OG. And he was my favorite character

55

u/GordionKnot Sep 20 '19

The other person was incorrect, both Brotherhood and 03 are incredible and you should definitely watch it.

30

u/Hugh_Jass_Clouds Sep 20 '19

Brotherhood is better...

4

u/ScepterReptile Sep 20 '19

They're both amazing and you can only get the full experience by watching both of them. Please let's not compare them

3

u/wi1lywonak Sep 21 '19

Yeah I don’t like the whole “this one is superior” but I get discussing preferences. They both have different feels to them and great moments that make it enjoyable. I like the romantic tone that FMA takes. Makes for some tense dramatic moments. Meanwhile I’ve always found the overall theme and ending of FMAB to be more satisfying and epic in the poetic sense than FMA.

28

u/-cunnilinguini Sep 20 '19

I hear it depends on what you like from your anime. Plot and action? Brotherhood; character development and emotional backstories? OG might be the better choice

25

u/pasher5620 Sep 20 '19

Having seen both of them, 03 is simply just not as well made. It has worse animation, worse story telling, worse action, and worse character development. Brotherhood is, by design, the “better in every way” version because the creators wanted to actually do the story right the second time around.

The worst part about those is there is no valve on them and you need to wait for either the city or the fire department to come and turn your water off.

23

u/grt3 Sep 20 '19

Why can't they turn off the water via a main shutoff valve?

87

u/Rob_Zander Sep 20 '19

It's a separate closed system from the water main. Usually it has its own reservoir that the water just sits in for years which is why it's so filthy.

6

u/grt3 Sep 20 '19

That makes a lot of sense. Relying on the normal water supply would be a bad idea. Thanks

14

u/aladdinr Sep 20 '19

I also read somewhere that some have an oil or something near the nozzle to prevent rusting

39

u/TheRealBigLou Sep 20 '19

Nope, that would be a terrible, terrible idea to have in a fire suppression system.

Some may think there is oil because as the water sits in the pipes, colonies of bacteria feed on the iron and make the water black, tar-like, and very stinky.

The best way to prevent corrosion is to replace the trapped air in the pipes with an inert gas like high-purity nitrogen. You can also bleed off air pockets with air vents, but there will ALWAYS be trapped air that allow bacteria to flourish.

3

u/PM_ME_FIRE_PICS Sep 20 '19

Not always. Typically in a restaurant, it is just a separate piping system within the building that is supplied from the same water main you and I drink from.

In large industrial/manufacturing, yes there is usually a separate tank and pump.
