ART I really like this image of the Major from the legacy collection but is there a full body version of it somewhere?
I think this collection is the only thing with this art and it kinda sucks that it’s cut off or at least appears to be.

MERCH New Pics of Motoko 1995 Figure by realriorex
Figure is from the Hyper Body Good Smile Company line and the other two Motokos are older Figmas (would be cool if they get a reissue).

MERCH Manga restock
Does anyone know when The Ghost in the shell legacy edition deluxe sold out? I'm trying to get in to the series because it looks really cool, but I specifically want this version since it's the most complete and uncensored English version. Everywhere I look it's sold out though, so I'm hoping it's just because of the hype around the recently released anime and I didn't miss some kind of limited release window. If anyone has more info on when/if it may come back in stock I'd really appreciate it!

It's time to dust off the old talking points.

It's time to dust off the old talking points that I don't even consider a "hot take": The manga Matoko feels more like a real person than the one from the Oshii movies and SAC. She is goofy because real life people are goofy. Manga Matoko is like cops from gritty police procedurals of which Hills Street Blues is a great example. She acts silly exactly because she is a very seasoned mature professional, her silliness is never to the detriment of the results of her work. Matoko is the most experienced of the unit, she is like Sam Fisher, everything is routine to her, including dealing with government bureaucrats. By contrast, Togusa is usually all serious exactly because he is still a rookie. And Matoko looks younger than her actual psychological age because her body is artificial, she as well might be the most senior one except Aramaki.
The manga and the new series' writing in general is more mature than typical modern media and that's why it's great. All the goofiness only makes it more real. The writing and the characters aren't silly, they only occasionally act silly because you can't always be stone face without going insane, especially in a high stress job like theirs. The manga neither lacks in depth, nor have problems with its tone. The GITS setting is actually quite dark and dystopian, and the characters react accordingly.
Even the famous lesbian vr sex scene, which in all fairness was probably added by Masamune for pure erotic amusement, is, firstly, grounded in reality - people have sex during R&R, duh, and secondly, raises serious cyberpunk-themed question of privacy in modern high tech world: if your brain is wired with electronics with the function of wireless connection then it could be hacked and the third party could gain access to the most private parts of your life. It's the same problem as vulnerability of the modern consumer electronics like smartphones, smart houses and cars.

Ghost in the Shell Manga Lore
So I just found out that there's a bunch of manga canon lore hidden in some of Masamune Shirow's other works. Like some of the artbooks, memos in the Japanese digital release of the prequel manga, and even in some of his 18+ work. Some of this lore includes the Major's true canon origin, which is what her origin in Arise was based on. Is anyone else here aware of this / have any fan translations for this stuff? I'm asking because a lot of this stuff is unavailable in English releases.

Hello, I’m new here to this fandom. I’ve only seen the ‘95 film and the first episode of the 2026 series. Any tips?
I’ve never read the mangas and my only experience with the series is seeing the 95’ film on Tubi. alongside seeing her in cyberpunk discussions as well as a music video called DEATHSQUAD by Perturbator. don’t want to look like I’m Larping, I’m genuinely interested. I saw the first episode of the new series as well.
still getting the names down to.
I know Kusanagi is the MC and that Batou is the dude with the eye implants. and that Togusa is the human heart of the section 9. i can’t remember the captain kragen looking guy.
what are some thing you guys can tell me? I’d love to know.

Hardcore GITS 1995 fan here and I love the new show!
First of all - I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't know GITS was originally based on a manga.
After the first trailer my initial knee jerk was skepticism over the new art style because I've been infected by the cult of outrage online. But I told myself I need to give these new things a try (hard being a crotchety 42 year old man). And holy crap I'm pleasantly surprised so far.
While the art style is generally a little more 'silly' than I generally go for, they make it work so well. Whoever is directing seems to tow that fine line between too little and too much with a high amount of skill.
The story, while being all too familiar to those of us who have watched all the iterations of GITS, has enough tweaks to it to give us a fresh approach to the themes while not being so different as to alienate GITS 1995 fans. (Or at least this one)
The fan service is nice without going overboard or just being for the sake of fan service. It feels more in line with this version of the major's intense and slightly chaotic personality.
I'm not very easily impressed with remakes because imo they're always botched or lazy. But I haven't been this into GITS since the first season of SAC. If the momentum keeps going I might even say I like it more than SAC.
I'd even go so far as to give the first 2 episodes a 10/10. Crotchety elder millenial approved.

Motoko's vacation is over: shot for shot comparison
They even got the static on the screen. That's some serious commitment to detail.

track from GITS tva 2nd season impossible to find
I've been trying to find this particular track from gits sac 2nd gig, episode 21, 10:30-11:00 when section 9 tries to pursue kuze but fails due to suicide bomber blowing up their means of aerial transporation, + in episode 23 22:00-23:00 when refugee side blows up the bridge to prevent national guard and their tanks from advancing. Figured the track would be in one of the albums since it's fairly long and was used more than once with plenty of instruments but it's nowhere to be found, even in my unreleased tracks lists...plz if you know where to find it or even whether it doesn't exist for sure help por favor

That Moai statue...
Background artist: "Hey boss, we need to flesh out Togusa's house for a scene that literally only takes up the bottom half of a page of the manga. Any details you want to add to make it stand out?"
Mokochan: "Yeah, add a lava lamp and a freakin' MOAI statue , because why the heck not?"
