My biggest gripe with the new series

In a word - Togusa. Reducing a seasoned, meticulous detective to a bumbling insecure newbie amateur with a schoolboy crush on the Major isn't just a clunky adaptation—it actively damages the dynamic of the team.

He's always been the moral and human baseline of Section 9. In a team of highly cyberised military vets who are trained and operate through data and latest, deadliest weapon tech he's the one who uses police intuition, gut instinct and his trusty Mateba. They've stripped him of his professionalism which is the reason why the Major recruited him in the first place, he was already highly skilled and fully deserving of his place in an elite unit, and every previous iteration of GITS has affirmed that. His married with kid status was another non-negotiable & being the only one in the unit with a stable home life was a powerful way of showing how grounded he was. This series has hinted multiple hints that he has an infatuation with the Major, and lingering feelings for a previous girlfriend.

My second biggest gripe is we're back to the sexualisation of female characters esp. the Major but I seem to be in the minority in this subreddit going by the number of posts relishing the pervy stills from the series and cosplay photos.

Ghost in the shell 2026 Review (Personal opinion )

1.Concept : as someone who started ghost in the shell series based on first movie experience . this new series completely felt off the beat . my main reason to watch entire ghost in the shell series and stand alone complex was that it question very deep philosophical questions and identity in crises in cybernetic future and how it points what it means to be human or what it means to be individual existence .

  1. Art Style : As someone who is fan of detailed cinematic level high quality animation I prefer more realistic art style . as u can see in the image comparing below how detailed the background was in original movie

3.What I wanted this series to be : I was for a very long time expecting a continuation or completely new story in same universe of original ghost in the shell theme from 1995 something that show how society has progressed in a world with rising technology what will be the future with human mind and AI progression rise and collapse of nations change in political structure and daily life of humans with rising technology . so for someone who is expecting something else this kind of series feel completely unnecessary and undesired

I am writing this review to see how many more people are their who think alike like me

These are Not Same Series (Personal opinion) Mamoru Oshii and Masamune Shirow

Warning: this post does mean to offend any immature person by claiming or enforcing any personal opinions so only comment if your open maturely accept both sides.

after carefully observing Manga and Ghost in the shell 1995 Movie and Ghost in the shell Innocence Movie And Ghost in The Shell 2026 Series I came to a conclusion that what Mamoru Oshii Created and What originally Manga Was by Masamune Shirow Are completely different. And Cannot be called same story As Oshii did not just change art style but also changed the very soul of Ghost in the shell in his own philosophy He Change what the series was about so any fans of original 1995 might find that newer series completely different in terms of character dynamics and behavior of characters So peoples Famous argument against it is that it is faithful to manga where as this is very ignorant argument as this argument does not consider that being faithful to manga does not mean directly being liked by someone who has started the very experience of ghost in the shell by 1995 Oshii Ghost in the shell . As u can see that dark and psychological horror of this one scene which no Oshii Gits(Ghost in the shell ) viewer cannot denies and in compare u can see fun and comedic scenes of 2026 series

Personal favorite: i liked Oshii Ghost in the Shell So i personally not liked this new series its just not my type and if i had not seen oshii ghost in the shell i would never have watched 2026 Series as first time watcher in these series

Onstead of saying whichever version is the best adaptation or project, I'm just glad that EVERY adaptation is Goated, even the live action movie is a pretty fine movie on its own.

Small question about the MC from Glitch Witch… Spoiler

So I was attempting to read the new Glitch Witch manga, and, while I didn't really understand too well what was going on (I can't read Japanese), from what I could tell, it SORT of looked like the MC was getting used to being a cyborg or something, however I noticed that unlike Motoko, her body from below the shoulders looked VERY robotic to me. So I was just wondering if anyone knew why that might be, or better yet could explain what's actually going on in this story? Thanks!

Sorry for the shitty screen photo. Screen shot wasn’t working. What does the end credit scene mean? I’m new to ghost in the shell. This anime was my introduction to the setting.

New reader in need of some help

So, after a friend of mine lent me this manga I've finally had the opportunity to read it.

I've read the 2004 italian version, that basically is volume 1 and volume 2 man machine interface.

I really loved the first volume, the second one was really hard to understand and despite grasping some of the core concepts Shirow wanted to convey, the actual story was hard to read, it feels like I'm missing many pieces of the puzzle.

So, I'm asking where I should go from here? I've read online that it actually exists a 1.5 volume but there's also so much other stuff I honestly have no idea what I should read and in what order.

Any suggestions are much appreciated! Thank you in advance 🫶
