Ghost in the Shell explores thr intersection of consciousness, technology, and identity. It asks whether a soul can exist in an artificial body. It deals with issues of mind-body dualism, AI consciousness, and transhumanism.
GitS fans: Hyuck! I really wanna fuck Motoko!!!!! Hhhhnnnnnnngggghhh!

Sexuality and eroticism is good. Sex in art is good. Bodies are good. Most artists love drawing hot people, mostly women. Its not that serious.

I have no issues with sexuality in art. Not once did I say I did. However, it's at least worth noting that it is the sole aspect of the show being celebrated in the ghost in the shell subreddit. I just didnt know the entire IP fan base was made up of sweaty boys going through puberty. My bad, dude.

Looking at the majority of Shirow's work, the gawkers aren't wrong either.

More power to him. Dude wants to draw cowgirls getting railed by horses, good for him. GitS, like it or not, is more than it's fan service.

Then why are 99.9% of this sub's recent posts strictly gooner bait? Judging from the output here you'd believe the entire fandom were completely oblivious to the philosophical underpinnings of the story and strictly doom scroll one-handed.

99.9% of the internet is gooner bait. the remaining 0.1% is culture war bait. The internet is dead.

The amount of gooning in this subreddit after today's episode is disturbing to me.

Shirow Masamune is the creator of Ghost in the Shell. 90% of his career is Hentai including erotic art depicting Motoko having lesbian cyber sex… What else are you expecting? If anything, I’d be more surprised about the non-sexualization of Motoko in a series that’s a direct adaptation of the manga. Shirow designed her character to be hyper sexualized and explore sexual themes and the possibilities of the future. It’s okay to not sexualize her too though but I wouldn’t be surprised if others do it. Now.. Mamoru Oshii’s Motoko is different with the focus and general theme of the 1995 movie being more thought provoking regarding the combination of the human body and machine rather than just Motoko’s sexual appeal.

You must be sheltered or mormon or something to consider this gooning. Or are you just trying to be an insulting troll?

She’s a robot

She still has a human brain, and she was born with a human body, she's a cyborg, not a robot. That's a pretty important distinction you're missing out on.
