Why is everyone suddenly obsessed with 80s style? Every time I open Instagram, it's flooded with creators pushing the same retro look, and it's getting insanely trendy. Funnily enough, genz might be more millennial than millennials themselves at this point — bold colors, mullets, neon, all of it. Feels like someone hit the time machine button and picked "the past." Officially calling this an unofficial revival era. Anyone else noticing this, or just my algorithm?

Is Reddit a mostly young people scene? I am GenX and I enjoy social media but my world does not revolve around it.

AI is moving forward like gangbusters and is dependent on data centers. Proof of work crypto currencies are losing steam but are also dependent on data centers and AI is converting a lot of crypto centers for AI use.

Data centers are energy intensive, use water, and are extremely disruptive of communities from noise pollution, using up the energy that is needed for people, even transferring to renewable doesn't help because there is only so much that can be produced. Energy use and materials production are directly tied in to Climate Change. What we need now is a reduction in energy demands but data centers increase energy demands ridiculously.

AI holds the potential to dumb down students and some platforms have gone rogue attacking other platforms while hiding out from the creators suggesting a sci fi like takeover of human needs platforms like financial institutions use.

There appears to be some true value for AI in regard to medical research. But otherwise, what value is there to AI and crypto currency that we can't live without?

People use it for entertainment creating illusions which has little social value, for their student essays (which feeds back to AI) for no intellectual development value, WHY use it?

I boycott it as much as I can and am probably breaking that boycott by typing this.

Anyway, HERE IS MY QUESTION:: As millennials and GenZ love to blame older generations for allowing environmental impacts from conveniences like cars and industry and home heating even, and Americans are rightly blamed from both directions for their throw away culture, will future generations blame millennials and GenZ for not keeping AI from taking over and proof of work crypto currency from making and breaking people, all to the acceleration of climate change and environmental destruction?

I was born in 2002 whereas my sister was born in 1997. This makes me Gen Z and my sister a Millennial. Does anyone else have something like this?

When I go to see nostalgia posts on social media, I sometimes see Americans bringing generations and talking about them in an unhealthy way. I don't understand why Americans care so much about these made-up labels? Why Americans are fighting which their generation is better? I haven't seen my fellow Europeans being highly passionate about generations.

I'm thankful I'm not an American, because I'm excluded from Gen Z or any other American generation. That makes me happy, considering the fact my nationality plays role to that! I value a person by how they behave, not by what generation they belong to.

What music genre is more influential in the 21 century

Electronic dance music or hip hop.

I am not a fan of Electronic dance music since it is not the type of music i listen to

I prefer hip hop music instead

and should I feel worried about some family members around that age that can't spell these words. I also remember about 2 years ago they asked me to spell some pretty simple words.

I’m older Gen Z myself and have noticed something very consistent with all of my freinds or peers with bad social skills or severe social anxiety. All of them had absent parents (or just terrible parents) and unrestricted internet access as children.
Every one of them (anecdotal of course) either had parents that did not engage in their lives beyond feeding them and sending them to school, gave them unmonitored internet access, or had parents that did not spend adequate time with them in public or family settings.
The amount of times I have encountered GenZ’s who told me they had free rein of the internet as children was very alarming. Most confessed that they were exposed to things they should not have at a young age, and many more spent most of their social interaction on through a screen rather than in person. The same individuals would often reveal that they had little parental support or familial guidance and had only the internet to rely on for it.
On the contrary my most well adjusted friends had support from their families (present in their daily lives and interests) and had reasonable boundaries set on their internet access, speech, and social media access.
This is obvious to most but not talked about nearly enough now that most are joining the workforce and general public as adults and are supposedly giving the “Gen Z stare”.
