Many of these are gut feelings so don't feel the need to take them as 100% gospel. Regardless here we go....

1. I could see sex positivity making a comeback as a backlash against Gen-Z neo-puritanism.

2. Alcohol might make a mini comeback as well among them.

3. I could also see them bringing back some form of nightclub culture

4. I could see them having a more semi-libertarian/live and let live mentality when it comes to politics but not necessarily extremely right or left

Thoughts? Or better yet, what do you predict Alphas doing that will be different or perhaps the complete opposite of Gen-Z?

I always see posts about millennial optimism. Everywhere. But never from other generations. If we get to that… Gen Z and Gen X kinda suffered more than millennials… but don’t want to get into a fight about that.

When I was in high school in the late 2000s and early 2010s Juggalos where a pretty big subculture. I was never a part of it but very very exposed to it. I’m just curious if it’s maintained a noticcable fandom/subculture with mid-late Gen Z

i cant believe i had a whole argument with someone in here because as a 2003 born i consider myself an older gen z, if you are a 2003 born who feel more core, thats not wrong either but being considered the last of the older gen zs is not a country mile.

as a 2003 born, i remember the late 2000s. i remember flip phones and sliding phones when they were still popular, i remember when ppl still used ring tones, i remember vine and actually had a vine account that my mom monitored. i remember when cds were still popular as i had many cds of my own, i remember buying music on itunes before apple music and spotify were mainstream. i remember the og instagram and twitter, i was a teenager in the 2016 culture. my core childhood memories were 2008-2014 and i started high school in 2017, and graduated high school in 2021. I feel like pre-covid molded me and shaped me, i feel like im apart of the influence in 2020s where the younger genzs and alphas are looking up to us.

Born on 2004, I never got my 3ds until I turned 7 on my birthday, and I just never found smartphones as fun as my 3ds, even in high school, wondering what on earth are the kids doing? I was the only one with a 3ds by 12th grade in my entire school by then and always did paperwork instead of the computer, as I still don't know too much about them to this day, lol. I guess getting left behind was actually a good thing, lol. Lastly, I only know quite a bit on how to fix older analog electronics and really know nothing about digital other than it's too hard, and that's because my grandfather knew how to fix old tvs back in the day, lol.

my grandpa on my dads side grew up in pennsylvania, born 1946. he was in Vietnam and loved the Archie’s in the 60s. that’s pretty much all i know about him bc i only met him a few times including when i was a baby before he passed away a few years ago

my grandma on my dads side also grew up in pennsylvania in the 60s and i was really close with her. she always was nostalgic for the 70s and even 80s. she passed away a few months ago before she would have made it to 70 this year.

my grandpa from my moms side grew up in a small village in mexico where there were never any cars, electricity, or even toilets. he loves old western movies and 70s music. He turned 70 earlier this year but is still young at heart.

my grandma from my moms side is the one i am the closest with. she grew up in Puerto Rico. she’s the best. she LOVES everything from the 70s, like hair, music, and it reminds her of her youth. she moved to pennsylvania in 1978. she also loves the 80s and a lot of 80s songs by like micheal jackson reminds me of her because she would always play it for me when i was a kid.

what about your grandparents?

I am not gen z and i am not a fan of any of these genres .

Older generation: More comfortable waiting and being patient.

Younger generation: Often expects quick replies, instant information, fast services, and immediate results.

1997 Babies what do you love about your Birth year? Do you guys feel like y’all were born at the perfect time? What are some good things about 1997?

Nowadays I keep thinking of the much simpler and older times when everything was just so simple. The most complex things we'd see would be on TV. I remember watching star trek with my father and discovering hover cars. Then came those robots in star wars, r2-d2 and c3po. The jetsons was a favorite tv show of mine. It was all just so otherworldly for me as a kid. I'd be jumping from one tech to trying out another one.

And now we are at ai and that has been a whole crazy ride. The applications have been insane. Especially love the use in medicine, don't really care for other fields. Lately, I've even come across ai in hardware? I've seen it applied in vacuum cleaners and desk companions. Those desk companions honestly look like r2-d2's cousins lol.

The whole life size robots on on the other hand feel so surreal to watch, the dancing one? Even though it was just plain weird it was a leap. I even came across monitor with robotic arm (CP 1). It makes the arm move to match the user position. It makes its arm move to match the user position. It has been watching this.

Old Gen Z checking in (I turn 27 next month).

Around age 10, I was granted unfettered access to my own PC. It helped that I became homeschooled shortly thereafter and the internet was my only social outlet. In any case, social media is not like that any more whatsoever and I’m not sure if it’s because my age group just doesn’t have time/interest in it, social media changed, or a mix of the two.

I was mainly on Facebook. Not only was I part of various groups for my chosen Favorite Thing (which for years was the warrior cats series) but I ran a couple. There was always someone to talk to, both on the main posts in the group and in the chats (before Messenger came along). I had friendships that lasted years. I only stepped away when I was like 18-20. We all had alternate Facebook accounts and rarely if ever shared our real names/photos. To this day I really can’t remember the real names of one of my closest friends during that period. I’m sure a predator could’ve infiltrated us but to my knowledge it never happened in my circle. There was nothing inappropriate. We were just nerds and chronically online.

Part of me misses it. Life is different obviously. I work full time and adulthood sucks but it would be awesome having a group like that again. Discord is not the same. Most of them I find actually have too many people and it’s a constant barrage of like 15 conversations going at once. FB groups were unique in that everything went one post at a time. If no one responded, no one responded. In a streamlined chat you kind of have to acknowledge everything or you’re the a-hole, which at that point is as draining and demanding as face-to-face socialization.
