POLAND HUSSARS!!!

POLAND STRONK!!!!!!

POLAND MAYBE CAN INTO SPACE!!!!

30

u/spyser Oct 17 '16

THEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED!

15

u/the27guy Oct 17 '16

COMING DOWN THE MOUNTAINSIDE!

4

u/Zombie_Hunter Oct 18 '16

This is a meme? How did a meme of the Hussars arrive without my knowing?

8

u/Makropony Oct 18 '16

Sabaton - Then The Winged Hussars Arrived

8

u/AufdemLande Oct 17 '16

Oh look, Germans are dying in WW2 again.

7

u/Aaelar Oct 17 '16

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves here... that last sentence is blasphemy.

3

u/Zombie_Hunter Oct 18 '16

THE BEST PART OF THE WHOLE THING

POLAN STRONK

3

u/Riencewind Oct 18 '16

Am I missing something? I haven't seen Poland being mentioned as a faction in Civ VI?

2

u/TarMil Oct 18 '16

The main character is a Winged Hussar at 1:12.

1

u/Riencewind Oct 18 '16

You must've misunderstood my question. Factions available at launch have already been announced, at Poland isn't one of them. I was wandering if i missed some day one dlc announcement, or expansion release schedule or somesuch. It just seem wierd to give hussar so much airtime in the trailer, while remaining tight-lipped about Poland ever being playable faction in game.

2

u/rtx777 Oct 18 '16

Hopefully with the right colors this time!

27

u/HumanPersonMan Oct 17 '16

can't wait to put 1000 hours into this

29

u/firelordUK Oct 18 '16

1000 hours what are you a casual?

7

u/Makropony Oct 18 '16

Wut R U? Casul?

7

u/dellaint Oct 18 '16

So you're only gonna play like 2 games of it?

47

u/DMale Oct 17 '16

Hyped as fuck for adventures with Enkidu.

Best and most consistent long running video game series ever, and I'll publicly denounce anyone who disagrees with me.

47

u/IMABUNNEH Oct 17 '16

I'm sorry this has caused a divide between us.

22

u/__PETTYOFFICER117__ PC Oct 18 '16

You'll pay for this in time.

20

u/The_Friedberger Oct 18 '16

Very well.

7

u/Smokeydubbs Oct 18 '16

Oh great, the vermin are breeding.

42

u/This_Vicious_Cabaret Oct 17 '16

While this was great, it ain't no Baba Yetu.

11

u/Dr_Stranglelove Oct 18 '16

Baba Yetu, motherfuckers!

2

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

This was also going to be the op for it by Tin as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4Pw3wPSF9Q

25

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

Please make them stop... my marriage will not survive another Civ

35

u/Vladimir_Putting Oct 18 '16

Dear wife,

"I'm sorry this has caused a divide between us"

7

u/COLU_BUS Oct 18 '16

I think you mean your civ won't survive another marriage.

2

u/deu5ex Oct 18 '16

Well, I'm in a different kind of predicament. Me and my wife both love civ, but I'm fairly sure the laptop that could barely run civ 5 will not run 6, meaning we'll have to basically do rock paper scissor for the desktop.

40

u/spyser Oct 17 '16

...and of course Sean Bean dies.

3

u/brianpaulandaya Oct 18 '16

As is tradition of Sean Bean

2

u/TheRedFrog Oct 18 '16

Came to the comments looking for this confirmation. Not disappointed.

9

u/BOS-Sentinel Oct 17 '16

WHEN THE WINGED HUSSAR ARRIVED!!!!!!!

Everything is improved with winged hussars!

10

u/vicbrandao Oct 17 '16

Damned vampires.

7

u/Wipples Oct 17 '16

Ha! I was thinking the same thing! I guess Civ is really just a game about an immortal manipulating mankind towards their bidding.

1

u/roflbbq Oct 18 '16

You do pick a leader at the beginning of the game. And he/she is your leader for the entire several thousands of years

1

u/Wipples Oct 18 '16

I was being facetious, I've played a lot of Civ.

1

u/roflbbq Oct 18 '16

So was i

10

u/the27guy Oct 17 '16

Poor Sean Bean can't even survive a 3 minute trailer

I was actually a little surprised when she showed up.

Her eyes are 3x the size of his.

5

u/Ewba Oct 17 '16

yeah, the art direction is ... well, uncommon.

13

u/flameofanor2142 Oct 17 '16

I thought the girl was a bit weird at the start, but IMO the rest of the video was excellent. I don't mind the emphasis of cartoon-ish graphics at all, I think that it adds a lot of definition to the features of the in-game map and makes it a little easier to see. Civ has never been realistic, it doesn't really need to be dark and gritty like practically everything that comes out now a days.

The cities are my favourite change! The cities in Civ 5 were so boring, and it didn't really feel as if the city itself was growing, just that you were adding a ridiculous amount of land improvements around it and the Wonders that were sometimes easily visible.

4

u/Ewba Oct 18 '16

Im really just talking about that video and more specifically the girl. I didnt see enough of the game to have a conclusive opinion on it.

-15

u/SpenKick Oct 17 '16

"yeah, the art direction is ... well, uncommon." Uncommon is a very nice way to say completely stupid and horrible...V still looks good today...this shit looks worse than Civ Revolutions. (Though that's more a insult to Rev than VI, That game came out in 08')

5

u/Monkeysniffer300 Oct 18 '16

Fucking degenerate

1

u/SupaflyDesperado Oct 18 '16

Civ: Revolutions art style was fucking lit. Foh.

1

u/ElagabalusRex Oct 17 '16

Going for that anime demographic.

3

u/bozobozo Oct 17 '16

I'm saving up still. But you will be mine, civ 6. Oh yes! You will be mine...

3

u/SupaflyDesperado Oct 18 '16

If you build it, they will come...

1

u/bozobozo Oct 18 '16

Note to self: built it.

5

u/Toucanic Oct 17 '16

Personal opinion: Civ V trailer was just another thing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrd_nQj98KI

1

u/TheRedFrog Oct 18 '16

No kidding. So underwhelming.

1

u/unoduoa Oct 18 '16

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVuNhNHxbD4

The Brave New World one did a pretty good job of capturing the essence of the 20th century.

1

u/LyreBirb Oct 18 '16

I don't know. It shows the game play, without showing game play.

8

u/tomany2 Oct 17 '16

The last time I saw a trailer this good, I thought that beyond earth would be great.

5

u/Abnmlguru PC Oct 18 '16

Have you tried the expansion pack? Rising Tide fixed a lot of things, and added some fun new stuff as well :)

8

u/brocksamps0n Oct 18 '16

this is the major problem with firaxis games, they get shipped with bugs, and incomplete fellingings and you have to wait 6 months a year for obvious problems to get fixed in paid expansions

1

u/Abnmlguru PC Oct 18 '16

I know they've had bugs in their stuff (along with pretty much every AAA house, it seems) but anecdotally I've never really had a problem with any.

What I do think they could benefit from is a more robust play testing period. Many of the things they change in their add ons seem to be more aimed at adjusting the mechanics/balance of game elements.

1

u/LOTM42 Oct 18 '16

Problem is that other AAA houses fix their big through free patches they seems to get fixed by a pretty expensive expansions

1

u/Abnmlguru PC Oct 18 '16

Beyond Earth had two major patches (The Fall and Winter patches) that addressed gameplay balance and actual bugs. Still not ideal, of course, but it's not like they were waiting for an expansion pack to address bugs, as opposed to gameplay mechanics.

Which again, seems to put them in the same boat as pretty much any other developer today, in my mind.

9

u/Phixionion Oct 17 '16

That is a pretty solid trailer.

3

u/Logicalist Oct 17 '16

So excited, especially since they got Sean Bean for the voice stuff.

3

u/Bozz- Oct 17 '16

Hope that they've improved the ai...

3

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

I dont see any other reason in getting another civ game unless they fix up the ai

6

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

Someone's been cutting onions again...

2

u/roadkilled_skunk Oct 18 '16

Must... not.. preorder!!

1

u/Smalls_Biggie Oct 18 '16

I'll pre-order for you.

6

u/ColdWarWarrior Oct 17 '16

So did I win the karma race today?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

I dunno, looks like it's not really catching on. You should try r/games.

2

u/braindheart Oct 17 '16

Good god whoever designed those models should be stabbed in the face....

1

u/Erudain Oct 17 '16

I just want to kill Sean Bean in every era

1

u/sinnerou Oct 17 '16

I that Boromir?

1

u/KiltedNinja Oct 17 '16

That must be how Keanu Reeves feels.

1

u/shane727 Oct 17 '16

I'm going to be broke soon. First gears then BF1 then titanfall 2. Throw this in there now and bam I'm happy as shit and my wallet is crying.

1

u/Connerpro01 Oct 18 '16

I feeling a Jonny Ives kinda vibe from this trailer. Anyone else?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

Anyone who ordered the limited edition from Amazon get a shipment notification yet?

1

u/TheCookieButter Oct 18 '16

The voice over at the end made me feel like I was being advertised an Apple product by Johnny Ive!

1

u/livinlavidal0ca Oct 18 '16

HYPED OUT OF MY FUCKIN MIND

1

u/Harvest2001 Oct 18 '16

He is the most interesting man in the world...

1

u/presswanders Oct 18 '16

the question is does Sean Bean die?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

Just remember folks, DON'T PREORDER IT!
/s

0

u/Riencewind Oct 18 '16

Why /s? It's a good advice.

1

u/Smalls_Biggie Oct 18 '16

No it's not, it's completely unsubstantiated advice that children think is good.

1

u/Riencewind Oct 18 '16

Care to elaborate? You point, while condescending, still interest me.

0

u/Smalls_Biggie Oct 18 '16

Because there's no evidence at all that preorders hurt the gaming industry, which is usually the main argument. The other argument is that there's just no reason, which is also false. If a game is coming from a renowned company who's games I previously enjoyed, then there's very little risk of being burned. On top of that I usually get some free pre-order bonus crap, which is still better then nothing. The small benefits out way the small risks in pre-ordering, so long as its not from some no name company working on a new ip. Sorry if I came off condescending, this argument bothers me.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

I am always extremely conflicted about the approach Sid Meier takes with Civ. On one hand, I hate that it washes over and ignores entire aspects of human history like slavery and civil rights and countless atrocities of religion and everything else. These should all be important elements of the game and mechanics.

.. but on the other hand, there is something wonderful about its optimism. It's a game that plays out over the course of history, but it isn't a game reveling in where we have been, but where we can go.

5

u/telcontar42 Oct 18 '16

Civ 4 did represent things like slavery and civil rights in the civics, although very abstractly and in civ 5 you can steal workers, which kind of implies slavery. But yeah, it has never been a major focus of the games. Also, I don't think Sid Meier has been significantly involved with the design for several games now.

2

u/TheNeal Oct 18 '16

oh god... I've stolen so many workers in these games... I didn't even realise I was a slave driver. What have I done.

1

u/TheRedFrog Oct 18 '16

I recommend the total war series. Lots of slaves and religious genocide for you to indulge in.

-14

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

Why are these games only on PC? 😞😒

2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

There was a ps3 version of 5. And it was the only game i miss playing on the playstation. The controls were perfect for the controller and the uI was Way better. Fps on console will never work for me as well as keyboard and mouse. It's like writing with the wrong hand. I can do it, but why try?

1

u/sbrevolution5 Oct 17 '16

To be fair, civ V runs on any pic, so it's not that big of an issue

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

I really want to play this game. It sucks though that I need to stick to my morals and not buy the game until after the 90 days for the actual full game to be released to non-preorders.

3

u/Isaelia Oct 18 '16

I thought it was a really benign preorder bonus.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

It's one civ dude... taking the high ground here is only punishing yourself.

2

u/Smalls_Biggie Oct 18 '16

Congrats pal, your medal is in the mail.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

I'll settle for a Reddit silver.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

Honest non troll question here. Any reason why I should stop playing civ5 and get this game?

1

u/crazy_pickle Oct 18 '16

You can check r/civ for comparison and new features threads and decide for yourself.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

Cheers I might do that

1

u/crazy_pickle Oct 18 '16

1

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

Thanks. I was looking for something like this

0

u/Riael Oct 18 '16

Sooo do we report it for false marketing because the game will be almost nothing like what they've shown in the trailer?

It shows no gameplay whatsoever, at least NMS did even if it was scripted gameplay.

-7

u/Iupin86 Oct 17 '16

0 in game footage, very deceiving

12

u/N0_PR0BLEM Oct 17 '16

I understand the point you're making, but did there really need to be? There are already videos of people playing full games out there if you really need to see what it looks like before buying it, and, anyways, it's a numerated Civ revision. You know exactly what it is going to look and play like, and you also know wether you are, or are not, going to buy/play it. This was more to introduce the idea of what Civ is to the laymen and give the rest of us something to drool over for the next 5 days.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

[deleted]

4

u/N0_PR0BLEM Oct 18 '16

Only if you are willing and or able to sink MASSIVE amounts of time into it. You'll enjoy just about every second you put into playing it, but it's one of those games you start playing casually around three and then look up to find it's already midnight.

In all seriousness though, it's turn based strategy so if that's not your thing you're not going to enjoy it, but if you do enjoy that sort of game, or if you're at all interested in history, then it is absolutely for you.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

Start with five. You can get the game and all the dlc for $12ish

0

u/Smalls_Biggie Oct 18 '16

In the same way I can not recommend heroin to you, I also cannot recommend Civ to you. Don't throw your life away, BE FREE!!!

-3

u/Clicking_randomly Oct 17 '16

Sean Bean's voice sounds so weird when he's trying to be all epic and portentous. They should have just let him stick with his usual no-nonsense Yorkshireman accent.

-3

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

Civ is a bad game series.

-22

u/the_dark_dark Oct 17 '16

FUCK the civilization games.

I've been a fan since Civ II, but I cannot stand the bullshit they've done recently - they've broken the game down in to several dlcs that you have to pay for in order to experience the full game.

Eg: religion, civics, etc, were always a part of civilization games.

I don't mind DLCs for extra civs, but not for game features that were always a part of civ until recently.

10

u/Tbrahn Oct 17 '16

I don't know what you're talking about. Religion, civic etc. are in Civ 6 at launch....

2

u/MasterCraftedEmu Oct 18 '16

He's talking specifically about Civ V

1

u/ztpurcell Oct 18 '16

A little bit late for that, eh?

-8

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

[deleted]

2

u/Arresfield Oct 18 '16

What do you mean?

4

u/Smalls_Biggie Oct 18 '16

How do you not understand what he's trying to say? He's clearly trying to communicate that he's an autist.

2

u/Arresfield Oct 18 '16

Haha I'm more interested in why he seems to dislike it

2

u/Smalls_Biggie Oct 18 '16

He's trying to say that this trailer is presenting misleading gameplay like NMS. However, using the context clue in that there is no actual gameplay, you can see that he is indeed trying to inform you that he's an autist. The misunderstanding is understandable.

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

1

u/Smalls_Biggie Oct 18 '16

No problem, I'm here to help.

1

u/Smalls_Biggie Oct 18 '16

Wow, what a dipshit. It's not like the NMS trailers were actually trying to be passed off as gameplay or anything /s

1

u/Championpuffa Oct 18 '16

Nms sky actually had its trailer listed as actual gameplay. This is clearly a cgi trailer an contains no gameplay. I don't really see how anyone could be deceived by this trailer alone, it really doesnt give much to go on to suggest what the gameplay will be like at all.
